I could, but Lindsey @insidethehem has already has two and there are several others out there. Not to reinvent the wheel - here's Lindsey's tutorial: ruclips.net/video/bwnxITy2z7U/видео.html and another one she did: ruclips.net/video/x4YP3zrvL7U/видео.html Hope these are helpful!
Very helpful. Thanks so much. I am back sewing after a break of OMG 35 years and amazing how much I have forgotten. I really enjoy your videos and the dresses you wear.
This is how was thought to make pockets my grandmother taught me to do this for my toddlers pants pockets. She explained that they were stronger for little ones to put things in. She also used this on aprons. She said that if the pockets were to use that this method made them hold up better. You explained it well.
Thanks Margie - your grandmother was a wise woman! She probably taught you to cook, too. I wish I'd paid more attention to that . . . my Grandma could make pie like nobody's business. AND she had a green thumb! I think sewing was the only thing I really got from her -
That’s a great idea! If I have enough fabric to splurge, I put on side on the fold, but I rarely have that much fabric left over except for little dresses. I hope you and all your family are well. Stay safe and sane.
I have been sewing for 50+ years and I have never sewed pockets that way but I can see it would be more durable. In my experience the pocket seems to out last the rest of the garment and that is only one layer.
Isn't that always the way it goes? You'd think the pockets would go first. I just hated messing around with all that clipping and folding and pressing - I think this way they last even longer!
Genius!!! Best tutorial, I’ve found for ‘patch pockets’!!!!! Than you tons!
Glad it helped!
Hi Jen,thanks for the video. Could you do one on side seam pockets for patterns that do not have pockets ? Love your videos.
