    I found the ending less confrontational in the series than in the book. In the book, Marianne seemed to be quite jealous ...”who suggested you apply for this grant? Was it that tutor? Were you sleeping with her?” sort of thing, whereas that bit was toned right down in the series. She may have asked who, but not jealously (it’s 8 months since I last watched it).

    This was absolutely beautifully written. I know most of the script came from the book but it did need a lot of tinkering and she did an amazing work.
