    • @niriacachimbombo1557
      @niriacachimbombo1557 4 года назад +11

      Nick SKR Yeah true but the point of learning it in medicine is to be able to understand the medical expressions, disease names and their roots which is very helpful when it comes to memorisation,to read medical texts(at some point in ur academic life they’re gonna ask u to read those ancient Latin tests or even if ure into medical research and you want to produce a paper you’ll need it).Its useless in the practical world when ure in contact with your patient though.

    I was learning some words of Spanish and I deeply felt it may have been so strongly linked to Latin (I was just assuming not sure ,but then I confirm it and its so true )

    I'd just like to say, religious or not. Thank you. You are a blessing. My first language in high school was assigned Latin, I knew it well and got high-scores but did not read/write it much. Thus, I forgot how to speak it. Latin I love because it's barebones and a perfect place to start because of it being ORGANIC. Also, I am going to keep learning on my free time and get this done! I will speak it and know it. Thank you for the motivation! Anyone reading this, just know your hard times will turn from sour to sweet. I am going through many things, yet learning can be my escape and can only help. Thank you!

      Learning Languages Hello, I have a question (two, actually.) What type of Latin is this (I've heard there are several different types of Latin) and how is it different? And is there any books/websites where I can study Latin more deeply!

    • @learninglanguages3996
      @learninglanguages3996  8 лет назад +14

      Olivia Macagba I think the two types you are referring to are Classical Latin and Vulgar Latin.
      Classical Latin is the type we are are studying, it was used by politicians, philosophers, poets and other educated Romans.
      Vulgar Latin was spoken by ordinary people who had no status. It was also the Latin taught to people in the provinces (places conquered by the Roman Empire). Modern Romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese,...) have their origins in Vulgar Latin.
      Here are some articles on Vulgar Latin:
      www.britannica.com/topic/Vulgar-Latin
      www.nativlang.com/romance-languages/vulgar-latin-basic-grammar.php
      Here are some useful websites for learning Latin:
      en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Index:Latin - the Latin section of Wiktionary
      www.hhhh.org/perseant/libellus/aides/allgre/ - for grammar.
      ephemeris.alcuinus.net - News website in Latin
      The National Archives Latin tutorials:
      www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/latin/beginners/tutorial/default.htm
      www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/latin/advanced/
      I hope this helps!

      Thing is all this Neo-latin languages are not based on classical latin, there based on the vulgar dialectes spoken in the regions. Beeing that Romanian evolved isolated i can grasp most Latin, its just incredible how a language can evolve in 2000 years.

      You shouldn’t learn sentences that way you need to start off by doing that with small words or animals then you need to go to a better resource to learn more complicated things

    Beyond reasoning, to learn Latin is to learn the most unique dialect in the world... it'll take you to books, schools, libraries, museums and even movies... in context, it's not about impressing your friends, it's about testing who you are as a person, who you are... as in, are you ready to learn this language which will change everything in your life, accordingly. Vae Victus, Vae Personale, Vae Victorium.

    I would probably make one of the first videos about how to pronounce the alphabet in Latin, along with the pronunciation of long and short vowels.
    Also maybe if you said “um” less and it also sounds like you are sucking on candy when you talk.
    But other than that I liked your video and I’m going to continue with the series.
