    my Transmission band went also on a 2008 buick lucerne at 100,000miles. A reputable transmission service place did a crap job and still have some slight jerking back and fourth....I am going to make a video of it and post the transmission place that ripped me off $3200, Took it back a total of 6 times....still did not fix it right!!!!!!

    WOW! This is fascinating; I can't believe all the steps involved. I guess I'll be keeping my 2020 Chevy Spark with just over 10k miles and a manual tranny. I really appreciate my local mechanic shop I discovered that can do anything/everything; I stopped with the dealership crazy prices. Liked and subbed. (Scotty would be proud of you!)

    So it took you an hour to take it out, but you charge 4hours?

    WOW! This is amazing. So this is what the Buick Lucerne looks like underneath and the transmission! It is huge - isn't it? What are the dimensions of this thing? Eddie, perhaps you can throw some light on this question: Can worn out wheel bearings / hub cause a transmission to falter and even get messed up? How do you think that forward movement circular part get broken? Can the car hitting a pothole cause this? Great job! Well done!

      @user-qc7dr3cd3q 4 месяца назад

      Wheel bearing hub unit will not affect transmission. Pothole will not break band.

    i have a 2008 lucerne with 114,000 miles, My transmission band went out at 100,000 miles. The people that did my transmission{complete rebuild and new torque converter they said they did at $3200} but i still have jerking from 3rd to Drive sometimes and some jerking a little when driving. They are still in denial that it is the transmission. I have had just about everything new replaced on car since then with an extra $2000 spent since the rebuild, . They are just a horrible transmission specialist. People have told me its probably the torque converter. These cars a love them and hate them relationship, But alot of cars need work all the time these days.

    Interesting video. I'm assuming the same will be done to my 2011 Lucerne CXL soon :( Four weeks ago I came to a full stop, went to accelerate and the car jerked forward like someone rear ended me. Took it in a couple of weeks ago for a transmission fluid/filter change and everything ran great for about a day before the same thing started happening. Then it started slipping and hesitating. Seems to be acting up mostly in 1st and 2nd gears. Driving over 50mph everything feels fine. Not sure what the problem is since I'm not a mechanic but I'm taking it in soon and I have a baaaad feeling its going to burn a hole through my wallet. Just bought it a few months ago too and only had 70k miles on it (currently about 74500 miles).

      I have the same exact issue. Let me know what you find

    • @a1m4thah3d
      @a1m4thah3d 5 месяцев назад

      @@WhiskeyInspekta I chickened out taking it in because I really can't afford it right now but the bucking and slipping issue went away. Shifts aren't the smoothest but it's doing ok. Sometimes when I have to slow way down to go around a sharp corner it feels like it takes longer for the gear to engage so I just give it a second before I apply gentle pressure to get it going again. Same when I'm at a stop. I let my foot off the brake and let the car move on it's own for a second and then apply gentle pressure to get it moving and it's fine. It'd be nice if another fluid change made it go away entirely but with my luck, probably not lol.

    I have the same car, How do I change out the transmission mount ? Car shakes when I'm at the stoplight

    • @justcallmeeddie1
      @justcallmeeddie1  Год назад

      There are two transmission mounts. One behind the drivers side front tire and the other is deep down under the engine and between the trans and the subframe. Unfortunately thats the one that sounds like you have bad. you have to drop the subframe down to get to it. Not an easy job.

    • @chaseww
      @chaseww Год назад +1

      @@justcallmeeddie1 There are actually 4 mounts total, One in front engine of car, behind radiator, one in rear of engine. and one on top called the strut mount and the other is a transmission mount, Total 4.

  • @chaseww
    @chaseww Год назад

    i should have you did my transmission if you were close to me, I just had it done and it still shifts hard sometimes and wiggles sometimes in gear. Its going back 3 times now....There telling me its the front engine mount which they installed the first time as new and now they are saying its bad after 5 weeks, making it hit hard sometimes in gear. Well, it better be it cause i am tired of it not working correctly and the money and the aggravation. The engine does not even sound the same like it was. I am a person that knows my car every square inch and is OCD with it. I never every sound and crack and cranny..... So it has never been the same since this has been done. The cars transmission was so smooth always right until the band broke and now the trans is not smooth anymore....This really sucks.....I am so fed up with mechanics.....
