Aito Iguchi is finally 5 ft tall! Always fun meeting up and challenging this guy. Even though he doesn't speak the language well, he does what everyone who is looking to get better has to do to get better - focus's on every little detail.
Just want to point out for all the idiots commenting, I was 5'1 when i was 14, by the time I was 18 I was 6'2. Aito will finish off at 5'11 to 6'0 and he will be a water bug out there. You know more than I do Pav but now that he's 14 it might be time to figure out what direction he wants to put his game in. He should start to put extra time into his explosiveness in the legs to maximise a deceptive acceleration, CHL scouts will not be factoring in his puck skills 100%. Keep doing what you're doing, you're making so many Canadians proud that we get to ambassador this great game to these talented kids from Japan.
not everyone grows at the same rate as you. You can never tell how tall you are gonna be. You can be a Anthony Davis and grow 11 inches in 1 year or you can just stop growing at 16
Geno_Grondin21 That's true, I'm just stating my case because my mother and father are both 5'5 and 5'6 respectively, and even shorter heights for both sets of grandparents. I should have said I *assume* he will be around 5'11 - 6'0
Anyone who even says that Aito or the other two kids will "get rektd" once they enter the checking age is ridiculous. These kids are building such a good foundation of skating and stickhandling skills that even when they reach that age where checking is legal they will have the great lower body strength and coordination to help absorb body contact better than most kids. And I'll also add that these three kids including Aito are probably 10x better than you. To Pav's keep up this great work. They clearly love working hard with you and doing some really unique drills.
GingahNinja Also everybody adjusted to checking when they got into it, it won't be any different for them. It's just a part of hockey to adjust to hitting, everybody did it/does it
That's awesome I didn't know you guys were already checking but again my statement still stands. Too many commenters are putting down the skills these kids have and it just isn't right to me.
denys nov I meant size wise, in terms of skill it was mainly just a Pavs showcase, but I get your point, he didn't stand out as being that much better than other two
These drills seem incredibly fun but also very challenging. The one of the coolest things ever in my opinion would be to have you as a coach or at least go to a training session like this
btw i hope when they both hit 18 i see both of them in the draft, i'm rooting for some new countries to bring in the sport of hockey and these 2 kids are the gateway for that.
The 2021 entry draft to the NHL is already set. Pav, talk to him about different routes to go when he turns 16. I was thinking playing in the OHL so he can stay close to you and continue to train. It worked for David Levin from Isreal
Luke Woodworth not necessarily. obviously that'll be a challenge but look at for example rnh. Whether or not you agree, he was a huge part of the oilers playoff run and he's playing a checking role and he's barely 6 feet. Another (and probably the best) example is tie domi, Tie was 5'8 and is considered by most to be the greatest enforcer in nhl history. Being so short will definitely prove a challenge but I don't think it will completely throw off his career (that is assuming he has one)
Paul Kariya was 5'10". and yes he did get killed out there but that was during the era of the NHL where there were no rules on hitting. If Aito can reach a height like this and put on the muscle, I think he will be fine
This is what he needs, real competition in Canada. Sure, he’s really good in Japan but get this kid on a competitive AAA Canadian hockey team and it’ll change.
Nathan Z. Ottawa? Gang. I was asked to play in Beijing and had to turn it down. Family issues :/ got diagnosed with cancer during the progress. Can never play again. Rip my career.
The American flag is always supposed to have the field of stars in the top left. So when the flag is hung vertically the stars should be in the top left. If you see the way the rink is hanging it, they have it vertically with the stars in the top right, if they flip the flag around so that the stars are in the top left, the flag will be hung properly.
The challenge that I see is that some of the Asian kids can skate very well technically have decent enough hands like Aito, but they overwhelmingly struggle once the physical element ramps-up (which is at Bantams here in the US): roughly 13 to 14 years old as our local leagues AA and AAA tier go.
You should collaborate with Devin from 10000 hours it seems like you've been in similar situations training smaller players in your respective sports, it would be interesting to get a cross over :)

Thanks for posting, Pav. Nice mitts! By the way, his "other friend from Japan" is Hayate Abe

Philliam Jond I know right
I could barely tell which one he was, he's gonna be insane in a few years hopefully
Alex Cross exactly, you put him with 2 other kids and u can't even tell who he is, he's nothing special now
denys nov I meant size wise, in terms of skill it was mainly just a Pavs showcase, but I get your point, he didn't stand out as being that much better than other two

All three were incredible.
Aito grew quite a bit, too.
Awesome! Love you guys.
Hey it's Adam Grenier the number 88 !! this guy is so cool
Aito is a god at hockey i really like watching him play with Pavel
Is he playing in a tournament in Vancouver soon? I'd love to watch him live.!
Major respect to pavel for understanding that stick handling isn't going to get him as far in contact as it is in the younger age groups
It's pretty crazy to see someone with his skill playing hockey from japan
btw i hope when they both hit 18 i see both of them in the draft, i'm rooting for some new countries to bring in the sport of hockey and these 2 kids are the gateway for that.

Good for you man keep up the work
Let the haters hate, hoping Aito goes far
this is awesome! you should give chances to train with you to more players from not so big hockey countrys like belgium or the netherlands or africa
Do an interview with him!
His voice is so deep!
Omg aito is so tall now
Owen Martinez you must be short
denys nov lol no he just used to be rly short
Luke Woodworth I was his height at that age... I'm 17 now and 5'11
Luke Woodworth not necessarily. obviously that'll be a challenge but look at for example rnh. Thanks Pavel!
Where do I sign up?Haha that guy has some talent!
Adam is good
THANKS! I appreciate
Nice vidéo
That’s a beauty Riverman jersey huh
Good stuff, Pav. Enjoy watching your videos. Quick question: are the goalies not allowed to pokecheck?
So satisfying
This is what he needs, real competition in Canada. Sure, he’s really good in Japan but get this kid on a competitive AAA Canadian hockey team and it’ll change.
Future #1 pick if he keeps it up!
this kid is Sickly skilled!

Ottawa. BTW congrats on the 2nd place. You guys are a great team. Best of luck in the future.
Nathan Z. Ottawa? Gang. I was asked to play in Beijing and had to turn it down. Family issues :/ got diagnosed with cancer during the progress. Can never play again. Rip my career.

yes I love iguchi
This video should be renamed “Pavel Barber Being Shown up by Aito”
Cool vid:D
Number 88 was amazing
Played in the same tourney as that kid I Cali just the year above him
Awesome vid Pavs! One sidenote, I know it's Canada so the rink might not know this, but their American flag is hung improperly.
GT16 Paintball how so? I am just curious
GT16 Paintball I think its because of the camera cuz most cameras are actually backwards
That Grenier kid is pretty good.
Nice pav I am coming to your camp for training see u then
