Extremely easy to believe aftermarket charge tubes don't add any power, I thought the main point was for them to be more rigid so they didn't blow off as easy... But, I have a really hard time believing they reduce power. As long as they don't reduce boost (why would they), how would they reduce power? As far as the Whalen adding power goes, the dyno example was on a nearly 300whp car. There's a lot of stuff that adds power to an extremely built car. I would be very surprised if it added any power to a stock/stock+tune car. Simplifying of the system though, that's cool.
Just a couple things with some wrong info in this video. lol Treal Performance 2.5 charge tube kit has that map sensor adapter deleted and has been that way for a good 4 years..
Good info. I didn't know the intercooled X3's have a slower timed throttle body plate and that's why a BOV is delayed on vacume. I run a base model X3 with an RPM SXS charge tube and BOV. The vacume is very instantanious when I lift so my blow-off sound is very reactive VS my buddies RS with the same RPM BOV kit which sounds good but the delay is annoying. I'm also aware that the BOV causes some slight delay for power, however my rig is for the trails not the track.

I make 90% of my parts I've been a welder/fabricator/. Machinist for 34 yrs and yes I'm a old feller but still going strong at 51yrs old. I actually was doing all that for another 8 yrs on the family farm then I was hired as a fabricator at Ivor j Lee's worked their for several years then I was hired as a formen at another fab shop but I also learned to be be a machinist while I worked at these shops
51 isn't old man. I've been a welder/fabricator for ten years now. Learned in high school and got a job as a shop helper then worked my way up. Love it
