    I always thought there should be a better way to join the twin beds than the retail items they sell that dont work! This is a great idea especially if you have a guest room you want to have this option. Our retirement purchase came with "furnished" cottage. That really meant we got to throw away most of it. The twin beds were pushed together with a lumpy rubber insert and they had put some fleece type over it. Nothing was better. But we pushed beds apart. Eventually trashed the beds, they were bad, when we officially moved and set up our own twin beds. I will keep this idea in mind!

      Thanks so much for watching. Great if you each prefer a different type of mattress support. Cheers!

    My husband and I just got back on trying to work things out after sleeping on separate rooms for 3 or more months, I recently got a new mattress and he doesn’t feel comfortable sleeping on it because is to soft, now I told him we can get 2 twin beds and make it a king bed one soft one hard for him. Your idea gave me hopes that we will be able to sleep in the same bed after all 😊

      I really hope this solution works for you. I believe you can also purchase comforters that are different thicknesses if one of you prefer to be cooler….😊

    You’re doing the Einstein thing again , Angela !! Lol …that was very clever 😊.
    2 Twin mattresses cheaper than one king , I think .
    Great idea for my children to consider when they have young kids bed which is usually twin . They can join it up later to make one larger bed when they become teens.
    The topper is great idea to put over the mattresses after they are joined.
    Well done 👍👍👍👍 !

    Upholstery needle (curved) would help

      Thank you but Nope. Unfortunately it was much more awkward to do with curved needle. I spent a full day to work out easiest method😊

    Probably HAND SEWN. COOL IDEA.
    I think BACK IN THE DAY…I saw someone but the box springs one way AND the mattresses the other way…so the bed wouldn’t separate. I’m trying to remember…if it worked.😮😮😮

    I love this method! Was there a reason that you used a shorter zipper (60") rather than a full length one (72")? I appreciate your honesty about how long it will take, but it has to be easier than resewing a tent trailer zipper by hand when it's opened up for use. (haha).

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 года назад +4

      Thank you. I just used a shorter zip as I saw no reason to use a longer one. There won’t be stress at the very top or bottom ends of mattresses anyway. I am not the fastest hand sewer so could very well take a lot less time . The pliers are a must for tightly woven fabrics!! Thanks for watching. There’s something called a Speedy Stitcher if you need to hand sew much heavier items. Cheers!

    Do you think i could do this with 2 kings to make a family bed?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Год назад

      Can I just say that we once put 2 king beds together ( we were renovating another room) but not with the zipper and it was so big for two of us that it felt like we were in different zip codes! Would probably make an awesome family bed! But you’ll have to join the sheets to fit

    • @DuttyBoi
      @DuttyBoi Год назад

      Yes i am goin for the family bed cuz i have a growing family. Im sure they have extra large sheets since those size beds are technically real. I hope lol. U should do a video lol

      @NotchesSewing  Год назад

      I’ll pass on the video. I thought this video was going to be quite popular but I thought wrong………. I see so many bed bridges for sale online and I thought this was a better solution that doesn’t move or come apart.

    I love this … I wanted to buy an Alaskan king bed 108x80 but I can put together two twin XL 54x80 and two of this m is the same size for the Alaskan and is gonna cost me a lot of less money

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Год назад

      It’s a good idea just to try out the size first anyway and it’s just a small investment with your time. Not hard to do but will a couple of hours total. Have fun!

    Crees que seria mejor utilizar un cierre de 72"?
