    kakuno is my first ever fountain pen that i bought. bought 3 of it for me, my sister and my father. we got the fine nib and the nib is smooth with feedback and friendly with normal paper. i like the grip more than a lamy safari. it is comfort to write in long duration of time.
    now i own several model of jinhao's, monami olika, lamy, daiso fountain pens which the transparent plastic ones is great with it small sized nib and a few of those transparent chinese pen which i forgot the brand. it is fun playing and collecting the pens. but general mentality of people seeing me using fountain pen is that it is use only for signing documents. maybe in malaysia fountain pens is not used by students, general worker and usually used by top people, bosses. yes, i am from malaysia, your neighbour :). thanks for the review.

      Thanks so much for your comment. Yes the grip area of the Kakuno feels almost "soft" as they round out the corners and thats a big reason why I prefer it to the Metropolitan which has a similar nib. The perception of the fountain pen as a signature pen was more because of politicians I guess. I use fountain pens nearly all the time now for all my writing and drawing, it will be hard to go back to ball point for me..

      @@WrexelsWorld thanks for the reply.. i would like to buy metropolitan someday, but i am working in the field and commuting by motorcycle. even my jinhao 35 had the paint stripped, I will be sad if I ruined my metropolitan.
      i agree with your opinion on the fountain pen perception. but it is surely fun using the fountain pen and i am using it everyday. swapping between my 'several' fountain pens. now i am eyeing for the hongdian metal bodied pen. hongdian black forest. i saw a shop on shopee sells it for RM38 from china. now i cant stop thinking of it...

    Very nice review! Thank you!
    I assume, maybe I'm wrong, the Pilot Prera nib can swap with Perkeo? What about with Lamy and Kaweco nibs? Which nib is smoother, wetter between this 3 brands student level pen?

      Pilot nibs are swappable between these models, they all use the same nib and feed (Kakuno/Prera/Metropolitan/Penmanship). It is not swappable with other brands.
      I have used Kakuno , Lamy Nexx M , Kaweco Perkeo and in my mind Perkeo and Nexx perform much wetter. My grip suits best in Kaweco Pekeo and plus it accepts full size standard international converter.
      PS i really can't stand Lamy Safari for its horrendous grip section.

      @@dr_ink7268 Thank you so much!!! Your explanation is what I have been searching and so many have no idea. Also, you just answered 2 other questions:
      the Perkeo nib and grip are better and yes! Lamy has, in my opinion, a horrendous grip design (plus I'm sorry but I don't like the design). I know is hard to build a youtube channel and followers, but your videos are very good quality sound, image, zoom; Elegant presentation; not rushing and detailed information. As a viewer, I apologize for some people with no education, I trust your judgement but sometimes that's why many give up.
      I heard from youtuber OdE (Portugal) about overseas taxes and I hope here in USA we don't get that. I'm not well informed how they work and as far as I understand, youtube pays a tiny money accordingly to the number of followers, subscriptions,etc(?) and I heard that some share part of that bit of money, to a specific group as a Donation or Charities and in Ex-Change, they watch,subscribe, Like the videos so everyone wins. I thought on sharing it since I'm not into making videos, hehe, I just watch them and enjoy them!
      I'm sorry for my long comment. Looking forward more videos! Please take care🙂🖋🎨📖

    Thank you for the wonderful review - simple and to the point. I think I'll give this pen a go - one with the medium nip since it's smoother to write with. 🥰

    Thanks for this video! I just purchased one and am starting out on my fountain pen journey! I might have missed this - which converters work with this pen?

    • @WrexelsWorld
      @WrexelsWorld  3 года назад +2

      Quite a lot of Pilot converters will fit, the most common would be CON40 and CON70.

    • @marcosmartins2537
      @marcosmartins2537 3 года назад +1

      @@WrexelsWorld yes that is true. The con 40 is not the greatest option, since it is already small and it is not possible to fill it completely with ink (wich can be a pain for everyday writers). If that doesn't bother you, it's a solid converter.

    More of a question- could you compare the screw vs. piston converters for the kakuno pen.

    • @WrexelsWorld
      @WrexelsWorld  9 месяцев назад +1

      The thing about converters is that the fit isn't always the same on every pen i.e. some fit loose - so I would advise you to try it out if possible before buying. That being said, I know they are pricier and can be a pain to clean, but I prefer the CON70 every time due to ease of use to fill. Hope this helps!

    How does this ef compare to faber-castell's loom in ef?

    Wouldn't the pen dry up if there are holes in the cap?

    • @WrexelsWorld
      @WrexelsWorld  Год назад +1

      There is another anti-ink drying sleeve inside - you can just about make it out (its in white) in the clear pen. I do not understand the decision to have the holes in the cap though, it should be sealed.

    • @radiofreealbemuth
      @radiofreealbemuth Год назад +1

      @WrexelsWorld wow, I didn't know there was a sleeve inside the cap! I also found out the holes are in case the pen is swallowed, because this kakuno is made for little kids. But I feel like if theyre old enough to write, they're old enough not to swallow pens. I just received my kakuno yesterday. It's my first fountain pen 😊

    • @LittleKikuyu

      But kids leave their pens lying around for their little siblings to choke on the cap 🙈 better safe than sorry 😅
