  • The Pilot Kakuno is a great fountain pen. I think they had a put a face on it just to tell everyone it's target audience.

I was searching for Platinum Carbon black reviews and I've watched a couple of your videos now and love you sense of humor. Thanks for injecting yourself into what could just dry/technical reviews. You're great (and I love the way you express yourself in your art, too).

I think the pilot kakuno is very cute! I think the marketing sells itself that way too. not just for kids. but for people with wonder in their hearts.
that said... I don't own one. I use a Muji

      Aah dude so same....
I too own muji, as it was budget friendly and wanted my 1st and only fp to be something costly and fancy looking haha...
After a long time, now I'm thinking of getting kakuno, but confused should I invest for lamy safari instead...
I don't want to burn too much money on pens but also want complete enough experience

Thinking back to my formative years, I can picture myself asking for a pen like this and thinking I'd be the envy of all the other kids in my class the next day at school. And upon arriving at school I would be quickly reminded that school children don't give a crap about fountain pens and are more interested in sports, and games, and what have you. With that said, I think I shall see if I can get me one.

The Kakuno has, i believe, a very similar nib to the metropolitan, and my metropolitan has the exact same inversion problem.
Smooth as butter the normal way up, but quite scratchy when upside down.
    Good vid, amazing art!

without any shred of a doubt, the best delivered review of a Kakuno on the planet
I have a Safari EF that I use for taking a lot of notes for studying, and have ordered a Kakuno EF, because the Lamy is simply wayyyyy too thick for my writing

One of my favourite fountain pens. i wish it was my first pen (I had a Lamy Safari), and used it copiously for over 12 months with repeated fillings of Platinum Carbon Black. It now has lots of staining from the ink, but it's the best pen. My now dedicated PCB pen. :D Love it.

Excellent review and great drawings. You have a calm and relaxing voice. Is it a story you are telling or just random drawings? I learned to use fountain pens back in the early 80's, around age 12, in France at secondary school. Have a great week.

Thank you for the nice review and interesting drawings. I have a Kakuno pen but I didn't dare to fill it with carbon ink. I prefer the "real" Lamy Safari over the Chinese one because it's not as "flimsy" and the cap doesn't have a sharp edge. My favourite is the aluminium version. One person only needs one pen but I like to collect them in different colours🥰

Out of my sub $12 pens,.this one beats them all. Compared to the Shark, the Preppy and cheap Jinhaos.

I love this pen. Will probably end up with 16. Currently have 10. Now, it's time to begin my ink journey.😅

@izzyg8316 I've been watching videos and reading r/fountainpens post. It turns out that there is a similar EF nib experience between Kakuno EF and
Custom 74s EF. When I do plan to purchase up with Pilot pens, it'll be
      Custom 742 EF.
Bought Pilot Blue Black 350 ml. Next purchase is Diamine Three 30ml bottles:
Oxblood, Oxford Blue and Green Black + a 62ml Pelikan 4001 Blue Black.
