I totally agree with everything you said. It is what it is. I think that the reason why people are so angry or upset with it, it's because it goes against everybody's grain and of what a granny square is and how they've been taught. When we get comfortable doing something a certain way, especially as long as the Granny square has been in existence, then, you'll get resistance and push back if anybody tries to change it in any shape of form. And that's kind of exactly what I've seen happening with this yarn. It seems that all the traditional crochers are the main ones crying foul because it goes against their grain of what they do to make a granny square and traditional idea of it. I had never made a Granny square in my life until this and was really really mad at it in the beginning. But after I forced myself to keep doing my first couple of squares, then I fell in love with it and now, I'm addicted. I've bought at least four colorways of the yard and I intend to continue for as long as they carry it.

Saddly at my Wall Mart they started to pull them off self and I got the leftovers at clearence.I maneged to get 3 of of each remaining color for 20$. Im sad becuse I really liked the effect it has even if you don't make a grany square its great for abstract pieces you never know what you will get.

New subscriber. I think this is a great idea even if you weren’t going to follow the pattern to get the squares out. I would just do a continuous granny and love the outcome. Thanks for the video!

I have been crocheting for yrs. Basically from the time I could count. Back then red heart was a top brand. I think they are trying to update their name and get back out there. For me the yarn is super bulky and 4 is actually a 5 and the feel. Every one crochets different. Some tighter some looser so even with the size hook it’s not an exact science and that’s the problem with this yarn. It’s great you got it I’ve also seen a few others but that’s not everyone. People’s granny scares are different. What works for one doesn’t work for all! The durability of their yarn is insane. I have blankets that have been washed 59 times over the past 30 yrs. It’s just a new generation would love to see them work on other issues at hand

I’ve used this yarn and it did come out perfect. I had to get my tension and hook size correct first

I'm a mostly beginner crocheter, but I can make a granny square. I am working to make this yarn work, and I've watched a number of videos that are a bit defeatist. I've bounced back and forth between trying it an H hook and an I hook. I've mostly struggled to have enough of the last round color not being long enough. But your suggestion of doing 3 & 2 dc in the corners might be the trick. Despite not being in camera most of the time, even as a beginner I was able to get what you were doing. Thanks. I too have osteoarthritis in my hands.

I got it to work without a whole lot of trouble. Yes, it’s fiddly at first, but once you get it…it’s awesome. And no, it isn’t how I make grannies. However, there are creators have modified that 6 chain to a stacked sc, dc instead it got it to work with other types of grannies.
I hate changing a lot of colors in squares, so this is def for me.
And no full price for me either!!!
I did it exactly as instructed with recommended hook size. I did notice thickness if yarn varied a bit and there was some bleed spots in the white making it look a bit grungy in spots.

@@cillasstitches update: I used Bagoday no seam granny square design and it worked on first try. Long initial tail at least 4”. I’m a tight crocheter so I think it’s geared toward that

I haven't tried this yarn but then again since I love working with scraps it doesn't bother me to have ends to weave in or crochet in. Great Video Priscilla.

Great comments! You’re absolutely right it’s all about the fun. I’m using a different method than yours & the pattern square with wonderful results. Check out my vlog from Jan 23rd if you want a chuckle at my 1st time crocheting on camera. Enjoy your weekend & your granny Square yarn. 🧶💜

The one I am using requires a larger Guage for first two colors and down one for rest. Way too much for first two colors. Guessing next lot may be different.

I am subscribing but you need to figure out how to stay in the camera view for your tutorials so we can watch what you are doing instead of just listening to you talk. On the last orange round if you would have put two sets of three double crochet clusters in the starting corners instead of just two dc in the one cluster, you would have started the white round perfectly. You did a better job of getting the right colors in each round though than most videos I watched on this yarn.
