His sunsword was one of a kind ( minus 1 episode) i thought it was given to him for saving a wizard & his people... wheres ookla in this mosh up? The tall werewolf guy?

OOkla was totally not a wookie, and the sunsword wasn't a lightsaber....LOL....still loved this cartoon as a child, and own it now.

no sun sword? alien invasion? someone didn't watch any episodes of the original.
They are there. It is very difficult to find a novel sun sword adaptation that doesn't rip off a Star Wars Lightsaber. The movie has to overcome the elephant in the room: What's the difference between a Sun sword and a Star Wars Lightsaber? The Noah clip around 3:24 may be a path forward. The concept that the weapon is a truly a miniature fusion reactor like a sun. Able to project lethal flares in addition to searing heat attacks. I agree Thundarr's sword never displayed that ability in the episodes, but the introduction sequences He did perform a circular flourish with a trailing aura of radiation followed by an explosive boom. So, I thought, What if a weapon mechanic caused an "thunderous" ignition and behaved like a mini star - instead of plasma like a lightsaber, a fusion reactor with microexplosions so to speak. The wielder bound to the weapon can cause changes in fusion intensity and even its movement and shape. Much like mood jewelry can change color. Thundarr somehow could affect the workings of the miraculous sun sword and cause it to open a valve and release the energy (igniting it up). An emotional state perhaps closing a microvalve to shut it down. A state of mind or sheer force of will to unleash a solar flare, etc.

Everyone knows that The Herculoids "protect their planet....from sinister invaders...". And now everyone also knows that George Lucas was a robber and stole Star Wars from Thundarr. Sword, The Princess and even Ookla The Mok is the Wookie.

This looks like it had potential, but I think I'm with everyone here in thinking that it strays way too far from the original. A reboot that used about half of this material, and kept the rest of the material closer to the original would be awesome.

@@dorakinwarhammer2946 Well the cartoon was a definite "have to watch" for me as a kid. Honestly, I would personally like a new cartoon version which holds to the same premise. If something was done tastefully in the same spirit it would be huge. The particulars doesn't have to be exactly perfect for it to be a huge success.

2019 Some one went to a whole lot of trouble to creat a box office bomb! In no way shape or form is this about the cartoon, Thundar.

This is a clumsy garbage mashup of scenes from existing films, and an affront to the memory of the cheesy but charming old cartoon. Thumbs DOWN.

Chris Hemsworth is the perfect man to wield the fabulous Sun Sword against the forces of evil! He's great with kid fans, his belief in women is incredibly strong, and his physical presence is awe inspiring. Thundarr the Barbarian would be epic for fans to see! Anything to forget those "other" barbarians of film like...Arnold WHO???

Thankfully thie scenes shown here don't appear to really be for a Thundarr movie. But it would be great it one were actually made, accurate to the original cartoon! Unfortunately, I don't think Thundarr is well enough known for that.

A 3:50 trailer is WAY TOO LONG.. the episodes were just 18:30 each. I would have liked to seen this "cut" the same way as the original intro, and just save the extra material for another trailer.
You should have thrown in footage from the Time Machine (Morlocks & the apocalypse) , 2012, an actor who resembles Thundarr and maybe that chick from Scorpion King as the sorceress, etc.. Anyways, I think eventually Hollywood will make a movie from this or something based on it. It's too good of a concept. There was one episode I remember from childhood where these ghoul priests drained people of their life force, the cartoon was pretty dark, maybe that's why they cancelled it. I'd like to see Hollywood make a Devil Dinosaur movie also.

THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN, OOKLA, and PRINCESS ARIEL had it all - - literally everything poured into one cartoon series.
Easily a 3 movie franchise, just populate it with good writers and some big names, tight action, and heavy F/X, as they SAVE THE WORLD !
Classic - might as well come out with a full triple A video game title side by side.

Would love to see something like this that draws heavily from the original, but I seriously doubt there are any writers around that could make it without sacrificing a good story for pushing some boring agenda.

Never make him Live-Action, the voice actor had the best comedic timing. I would've been all for live-action, but that bridge is totally rickety from Ghost In The Shell, Speed Racer, Rocky & Bullwinkle.
