I bought an AR7 in 1964 when Armalite made it. I recently bought a Henry AR7. I put a cheap scope (OMMO 3-9X40 Rifle Scope) on it, but it took me some research to find the correct quick release rings (Redfield 47327 .22 See-Thru Dovetail Rings). The gun shoots great, 1" groups at 100 feet (with some brands of ammo). I know exactly where to mount the scope on the built-in rail, but I must slide it on before attaching the barrel. I only wish that Henry had made the inside storage compartment of the stock able to accommodate a scope attached to the action.
Just found this video. I have this rifle, and I like mine. Out of the box at 25 yds mine shot "a hare" to the right, slight adjust on the front sight and it was dead on. Same at 50 yds. Never tried 100 yds other than plinking. But it will put food on the table at 50. Thanks for the video.
Nice video. Don't pay any attention to the guys spewing negative comments. I have a feeling that most of them spend a lot of time in their Mom's basement staring at the computer, or feel crappy about themselves so they like to bully people on-line. Keep up the good work.
I live in an apartment with minimal storage I love this little rifle easy to conceal from visitors who may not be comfortable with firearms and great for home defense
Nice video, Thanks. One suggestion which may or may not help, don't use the barrel or barrel nut for a support point... or a sling point for that matter, either. I totally agree with @TraditionalFun for the most part... though, @M M does have a point. ;-) I really love my AR-7 and my 10/22, both offer fun at a really low price. Keep up the good work @GearGuy0100 !!
Thank you for your interesting video. I can tell from your cadence of shooting that our styles of shooting are similar. On your second series i think you may have rushed that third shot.
Interesting, that those that are making negative comments, will be the people starved to death, out of gas, in a McDonald’s parking lot. After two week without electricity. Good job 👍
I know that everyone just wants to show how a new rifle or pistol groups to show accuracy. Do you think we would get bored watching you make sighting adjustments to get that Perfect grouping? I know i wouldn't. It would also show how easy or not sighting the rifle is ion real time. Please consider it. Liked.....Subbed.....Rang Bell
That was a fine vid, And dont pay any mind to the negative, you know whats up, The funny thing is ,The guys with the neg. comments probably go to the range 12 times a week and still are not shooters. LOL Thanks
I've put a few thousand rounds through mine. Never rest the barrel like you're doing. That affects accuracy. CCI minimags result in 1" groups prone at 125 yards for me with the rear sight flipped to the smaller hole.
Questions, since I'm a "FNG" to hunting: Doesn't one need to zero-in a firearm before target practice? (If the gun is inaccurate at first, wouldn't you have to adjust for windage & elevation?) My guess is, once you've corrected for the initial problems, your groupings should then be in the kill-zones. Then one might know his/her own idiosyncrasies & develop proper sight-picture, form (or stance?), breathing, etc. Then & only then would I believe I'm ready for target practice on moving targets. Yes/no? Thanks!
nice video job but its a survival rifle and you didn't hit the rabbit target at all ,so if it were a real survival situation you would go hungry. is it not accurate?
Good point. The rifle is precise because it shoots tight groups. It is not accurate because I didn't hit the target. If you learn where to hold it is a good rifle. Thanks for watching!
GearGuy0100 Good Video. The front site is adjustable for windage the rear for elevation. You should be able to adjust them so it hits where you are aiming. AR-7s can be great little guns when they are tweaked a little.
Not bad for iron sights, very lite weight, take down rifle. No, its not up to an Anshutz ...DUH. JUST NEEDS A SIGHT ADJUSTMENT and "zeroing" at 50 yards with your intendd ammo.. Now I must have one...lol
Funny all the bench comments. Like your going to find a bench in a survival situation. I really want to like this rifle but I'm torn between it and 10/22 or a papoose.
@Jeff Scuderi I ended up with a marlin 795. Shot it a couple times and never used it again. Really didn't like the detachable mag on it. 10/22 is limited to 10 rounds in Canada, as there is a pistol that uses 10/22 mags, so it wasn't any better of an option. Ended up trading it and a Mossberg 500 towards a 590a1.
Nice "practical" accuracy test. Not a target rifle. It would be interesting to see what this gun is capable with optics, etc. Barrel is a pipe wrapped in plastic, so what is the opposite of "bull" barrel? Maybe we'll call it "calf".
Ohsplat Really are you a shooter? Or like to play like one? Yeah I carry one every where I go. or do i need to esplain Lucy the 10 reasons why the kid did not need a fixed mount. you people amaze me.
There is a difference between mechanical accuracy and practical accuracy. His test is just fine for giving someone an idea of what to expect from the rifle in it's intended purpose. What use is a bench rest accuracy test using match ammo in a rifle meant as a backpack or survival rifle?
@@nimbly1693 Because many people, myself included, are curious how accurate this gun considering you unscrew the barrel to store it. I'm mainly interested in how the POI changes from removing and reattaching barrel. This is why I searched "henry ar-7 accuracy". Sorry, but this video is NOT an accuracy test.
Young man you did NOT read the manual for this weapon before you set out to do a vid on it. If you had you would have known the mag held 8 rds. I will be 60 yr. old my next birthday. Let me give you some advice. ALWAYS read the manual first. If you are taking a trip with your future wife in the car with you, buy a roadmap and read it. If you get lost STOP and ask for advice or better yet get one of those satellite things to help you. I know couples that got divorced over that . Good vid anyway.
That's a terrible marriage to begin with. Whoever that happened to probably shouldn't have married the first girl who was willing to climb in the back of his truck.
IF YOU ANOUNCE THAT YOU ARE TESTING ACCURACY ,,,,THEN DO JUST THAT...THIS WAS A PLINKING SESSION....please use a bench and give a more "accurate" report ..Thanks for the vid we hope to see a proper test session from you soon!...
Ur happy with 8 misses out of 10 and the two hits weren't even kill shots at 35 yards? buddy you should be shooting at least a one inch group at 100 I have the same rifle with drastically different results
MAN YOU CAN'T SHOOT!! 30 yards? A friend of mine who analyzes video for the police confirmed my suspicions. That was less than 20. Your groupings were nice but why didn't you compensate after your first two shots? Tight groupings don't mean jack if you can't hit the target area. The problem here isn't the gun it's the shooter. Learn how to compensate for accuracy. Bunnies everywhere are laughing their fluffy asses off.
Wow! You went though the trouble to get someone to help verify the distance? Honestly who really cares how far it was. Look, buy the rifle. Make a video of your own. He never claimed he was a marksman at shooting. This rifle does pack a little punch for what it is. But if you have nothing good to say. Then just don't say anything. Gosh! Lol

Nice video my friend. I own one of these rifles myself. Very fun to shoot! ;)
Ha, that's what I was going to post about. The trigger reset is louder than the shots in the video!
Nice video, Thanks.

yes, that was the trigger resetting. Thanks for watching!
The rabbit survived
Thank you for your interesting video. I can tell from your cadence of shooting
that our styles of shooting are similar. On your second series i think you may have rushed that third shot.
When is the table top review coming? Great video!
No, the chamber & feed ramp are part of the barrel. If you watch my review I show the rifle being assembled and you can see what I am talking about.
Those were just a "hare" low of a kill shot
Why didn't you just adjust the sights and then shoot at the heart again?
"hand holding" I lol'd
Interesting, that those that are making negative comments, will be the people starved to death, out of gas, in a McDonald’s parking lot. After two week without electricity. Good job 👍

Interesting idea. In my country it is impossible to buy.
I've put a few thousand rounds through mine. Never rest the barrel like you're doing. That affects accuracy. CCI minimags result in 1" groups prone at 125 yards for me with the rear sight flipped to the smaller hole.
Keep it up bro
son , you're gonna starve out there

Son of a gun, this thing sounds whisper quiet! Is that how it sounds in person?? The birds around you are equally loud to these gunshots on the video.
If anyone is looking, find Slim River slings for your AR-7 on ebay or ecrater.
FELLOW SHOOTERS...just buy one !!!! It's my SHTF shooter. I've never had anyone ask to "try" a gun before this one.
what is the click 3 seconds after you take each shot?
That is the trigger reset
I thought I was hearing an echo or something. Thanks

thanks i went to gunshop and decided on the 10/22 both have pro and cons thanks for vdo.
Dave Schmeh Can't go wrong with the 10/22. Have fun and stay safe!

i have watched many accuracy tests. this rifle is more accurate than this video makes it to be. theres some very in depth reviews out there.
You cut a sapling down! Why?
Not bad for iron sights, very lite weight, take down rifle. No, its not up to an Anshutz ...DUH. JUST NEEDS A SIGHT ADJUSTMENT and "zeroing" at 50 yards with your intendd ammo.. Now I must have one...lol
كم المدى القاتل لهذه البندقيه
Just adjust your sight for the ammunition you choose to hunt with. If not that rabbit or squirrel will be long gone.
Rage,George C Scott!

@Jeff Scuderi I would get a marlin model 60 if I was going to do it again
I want one

Ha ha. A "hare" low!!! Genius!!
Us old guys need a scope. : - )
hermosa arma la quiero
Santiago Ruiz
me gusta la rifle tambien.
Nice video. When you "accuracy" test a rifle use better grade ammo, and the rifle should be in a fixed mount.
Ohsplat Really are you a shooter? Or like to play like one? Yeah I carry one every where I go. or do i need to esplain Lucy the 10 reasons why the kid did not need a fixed mount. you people amaze me.
+harry barbour 0-100 real quick

That kind of looks like that German WW2 weapon.
Thats a bad group even if that was 30 yards.

You need more practice to hit target better
Ur happy with 8 misses out of 10 and the two hits weren't even kill shots at 35 yards? buddy you should be shooting at least a one inch group at 100 I have the same rifle with drastically different results
