Wow man... 😶😯 Already knew this game was gonna be special, but after this interview, I'm 100% convinced that *Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is gonna be a GAME CHANGER!!!* 😃🙌🏾💎✨️ I'm truly honored to have my music in this game 😊🙏🏾💙✌🏾🎨⛅️
Dope interview. A trick system inspired by THPS but with no bailing is gonna be interesting. Also nice to have confirmation of 3 Naganuma Tracks, Steam Deck verified, and an official soundtrack release. 👍
Dude I want this game so bad that everyday I look up multiple videos about it every day over and over again just a few more days.....ugh the anticipation is killing me! 😆
I've been hyped for this game since I first saw it. I would've Loved to submit some art had I'd known about it. Nabbin this BRC as soon as it goes live on Steam! Much Love and Appreciation for the video!
I think I’m gonna buy it just so developers know ps2 style sports arcade are wanted. I normally don’t like skating game, but gah damn it I’ll take any sports arcade games that have some style. Looks so fucking cool.
14:50 Coming from grinding all of the score events from JSRF and THIS, THIS gave me such a sigh of relief, and I am so happy that he's taking this approach compared to the "skate in a square and press buttons" restriction from JSRF scoring. Much love brother, thank you for taking the time to let us see whats cooking in the kitchen! Happy 50th Anniversary! 😊🤙❤
So glad they did an interview with you not that guy who made that bullshit pretentious youtube documentary, the one where they projected their gen z ideological beliefs onto JSRF, even tho it had jack shit to do with it. Very excited for bomb rush, feel as if sega will mess up the new jet set by ruining the art style and just dropping the ball on it.
My favorite thing to do in JSRF is to chain tricks together. Bombing was cool but I could just vibe to the soundtrack and skate around. This being trick based is exciting me to no end. I skateboard and aggressive inline in real life. I might just cry. Finally a single player game I can enjoy.
True connoisseur talk!! One of the most unique and stylish manga out there, def amongst my favorite, and the anime adaptation was really neat too, I hope they will animate the rest of the story. I hadn't made the connection at all before you mentionned it but Dorohedoro this game and the Jet Set titles that came before it indeed all do carry this DIY HIP-HOP spirit and sense of style in beautifully inspired ways. Great taste friend!
To me this is ABSOLUTELY the Jet Set Radio Future sequel we never got -- but from the sounds of it, it's probably slightly more accurate to call it JSR 6 or 7. I say that NOT to minimize the hard work, love, effort, blood, sweat, tears, and unique flair that Team Reptile put into this. In my mind, I'm going to simply pretend this is in the same universe, just in New Amsterdam instead of Tokyo-to. I think its evident that Dion especially, but the entire crew, is making this not just because they want to make a new JSR but because they genuinely enjoy all the themes that JSR just happened to include too. That said.... I DO hope it's moddable though because integrating some -ahem- 'visitors' from Japan, customizable characters, and adding -ahem- extra tracks from Japan.... would be amazing.
This dev is doing Gods work. Jet set radio was a huge moment in my life and honestly not sure why. I remember playing it and just loving every singe moment. Something about it just pulled at me, I'm so happy to see some one share that love I'm expecting great things from this and honestly would love if the dev made this into a series maybe a bomb rush 2?
My excitement for this game is very similar to when Capcom announced that they were finally bringing Darkstalkers to PC. I never got to play Jet Set Radio, but I always saw it in gaming magazines back then and its style and concept was never replicated in the past 2 decades. The only thing that came close was Sunset Overdrive, but it was more of a shooter than it was a movement style heavy game. Bomb Rush is a style of game this generation needs
Ofc different game is different game. But it's a similar genre of movement and grinding around a city to graffiti against an authoritarian government to the sound of funky breaks @@sweetieswifey627
Its amazing to think that in a year full of games releases like zelda, FF16, fire emblem, resident evil 4 remake and even Baldur gate 3 this one is my most anticipated game of this year.
im in the small crowd that never played jet set radio or JSRF ( i mean i tried emu JSRF but emu seem to hate it on my end) but i got into the funky music and ive been into graffiti for years, tried getting to skating a while ago im not a good skate boarder, but jet set concept got me to buy some blades and pick up skating a bit. but ive had the game on my wishlist on steam since 2021 and i all was looking at it for a release date (and when i say on my wishlist it has stayed on the top 3 games) ENA is 2nd place to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk which is 1st
I am hyped to get this game on the Switch. My only wish; was that this game also had some form of splitscreen coop or a small vs mode on the Switch). Will get this at some point.
Would love to see some multiplayer / coop options. Love the game as a single player experience, but i think in this day and age adding co-op / multiplayer would be huge in a game like this and creating your crew/squad in game.
Well for PC there's always mods, I personally have never been that into online multi-player so it's not a loss to me, but I can definitely see the appeal of some kind of online options. The game is pretty easy just on it's own with a lot of the challenges usually done first try with the harder challenges maybe taking a handful more tries. Not a knock on the game because that wasn't what I was looking for or even expected with this game. I just wanted a fun stylish game and it feels great to just skate around listening to the music. All the challenges you do against the NPCs would actually work really well against other people. Like the race and high score ones are obvious but even the kinda silly "repeat the line" one could be converted into a game of horse basically. Each player takes turns trying to follow a difficult path the other just created, with maybe as the game goes on the amount of time you have to create a line gets a little longer. Idk you could probably play with the format but I think it would make those kind of boring challenges of follow the NPC into something actually interesting when having to imitate another human who might pull some utterly ridiculous jumps. It would be a clever way of learning new tech and lines within the community that you might not of thought of on your own. I could see a challenge where it's a 3v3 or 4v4 where the goal is to see who can bomb the most spots and gain the most REP in a set amount of time. It would be interesting since not only is it about finding different spots it would be a frantic tug of war since you could spray over each other's work and steal REP points. There could even be an extra point system for individual players after the match counting not just how many tags you threw up but the variety of tags used as well. There's also usually at least one spot in each level that's harder to get to, so those could count as a little extra as a risk and reward incentive. If you fail to make the jump then you just wasted time better spent getting easier REP but if you do get it, it would be worth way more REP than a more accessible spot of the same size. Then the other team would have to think about sending someone to try and steal it or not. Even outside of the competitive stuff though being able to just chill out and skate through New Amsterdam with friends would be cool. Maybe even have customizable hideouts on the online mode for players who like that sort of thing. You and your friends make your crew and you can go to that hideout whenever you want and customize it together. Even a feature like JSR where you could make your own crew tags and assign it to some analog stick movements. Once again though mods will end up filling a lot of gaps some people might feel the game has. In a way though I think it will help the community come together like a lot of heavily modded game communities do, which feels appropriate since one of the key themes of the game is coming together as a crew. Kind of sucks for those getting it on console only and want that stuff but that's something you just learn to deal with as a console only player.
I feel like this has just coopted everything that Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future were. It is really odd to see them claim the idea as their own and not acknowledge that it is a spiritual successor. Then when they get excited when they say it's influenced by Tony Hawk Pro Skater is weird.
Just by seeing some gameplay I know the game's fire. My main concern is the music department, the original soundtrack for both jet set games are critically acclaimed and personally some of my favorite ost ever, and the music plays a HUGE role in the vibes of the game, this game needs killer music to properly scratch the itch the jet set games left
I've been waiting 3 years for this game and these last 8 days will be the hardest. I don't give 2 f's about a Baldurs Gate or a Starfield. I want my Jet Set itch scratched
Great interview! I'll be picking up the Xbox version. Hoping there'll be a physical version but doubt it, and am excited either way (I hear ID@Xbox has a program for physical copy distribution for smaller teams, but don't know how that's going). I'm very happy to hear that the release is only a couple of weeks after the PC/Switch version too! I heard September 1st in articles, but hearing it from a dev is much more affirming for me. Good stuff!
After playing Jet Set Radio Future as a kid this is awesome to see especially with the BMX bike and other new features. Just wish the character designs were more like JSRF. Maybe they can get the JSRF people to collab and get them as a addon characters. Still can’t wait!
It would be nice if you could do a comparison of performance when the game launches, between switch, Mac and ps5 (I think windows pc is not that necessary since it would be the best one)
