BRCF definitely GOTY and one of the best games of the decade in my opinion

Hey Chromerot, I just found your channel a few days ago and absolutely love your humor and taste in games. I hope your channel continues to grow, thank you for giving me a good chuckle in these trying times ❤
Dude you brought it to a point! BattleBit's artstyle was such a huge turnoff for me that I even refunded the game. The gameplay may have been fun, but I felt so much boredom just looking at those ugly menus and the "basic 3D" graphics it sucked all the fun out of it. I couldn't bear it. I have to say the same about games that try super hard to look realistic. It's sort of the uncanny valley of modern graphics, where RDR2 or Stray for example absolutely mastered it, but games like Starfield, the recent Far Cry games and many others try so hard but ultimately never achieve style or graphical fidelity and just end up looking bland and boring. Older early 2000s 3D games (probably up to the Wii era), even if they tried to look "realistic", never really managed to and sort of formed their own art style in my eyes. It's hard to describe, maybe you understand what I mean :D
They didn't have the processing power to make realism, so they all found very different workarounds which created different artstyles. Now that we have the processing power, it shows where artists can mess up the details and really fail realism. Restriction breeds creativity, and we lost that default restriction. Artists should either go for realism, or restrict themselves. Me personally, I make 64x64 pixel art so that restriction always challenges my abilities and creates cool or unexpected results.
Bomb rush cyberfunk. Discovered this one through DF. I've been frustrated and exhausted watching the games industry, so glad to see you've found another game to enjoy. P.S. I haven't even watched the video yet...
youre genuinely such an incredible writer, you put into words exactly how i feel about this game. endless, unapologetic, spontaneous fun with a crap ton of style on top. i hope this game inspires more developers out there to prioritize fun again.

A big part of style is textures and shading and animation. 3D models are only a small part of the style and themes of the game. A low poly model combined with stylized textures can be super cool.
10:50 the funko thing was so relatable, this guy is just the best 😂 I love your channel man... I have been waiting for this game for so long and knowing you've been there too it's so cool. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like because we have such a similar taste, even I might not be interested in some type of games at first, hearing you speak is able to change my mind or in this case just reinforce me to eager even more about playing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Thanks for making videos
Only four months late to this video. I'm old enough to remember the original hype around JSR but I never played it, as absolutely nobody I knew owned a Dreamcast. The game really typified what was "cool" in the 90s. Basically a fusion of the attitudes of Bart Simpson and the TMNT; combined with extreme sports and "underground" subcultures. Basically all the stuff the conservative parents of the era hated! This still looks cool to me today even though I have grey beard hairs and have started to require reading glasses. Great video by the way, I'm definitely going to pick this up at some point.
What you said about art got me thinking of things like: People are forgetting to express their individuality way, way too much. It's unacceptable, and they need to remind themselves that if they're doing something like making art, you can't play it safe by not being shockingly original. You only live once. Honestly, you are no artist if you play it safe, go work at a warehouse and move boxes, that's much more valuable. The biggest problem with gaming companies is that there's no soul put into the games. As a result, there is no true confidence in their product and they must copy everyone else to give them a shallow confidence in their sales and in the quality of their games.
That disdain for the basic low poly 3D artstyle is how I feel about true realistic games. Like I get it, you have more poly's in that tree than the entirety of a roblox map, but man it's just so boring. If I wanted realism I'd just look outside, I want the art of a game to tell a story of its own. Lost in Random is the last one I recently played that stood out to me.
Yooooo!!! finally another vid from the only objectively correct gaming youtuber (btw, check out sludge life 1&2 if you haven't, thickest vibes in recent history)
Bomb Rush is definitely way better then starfield. Sleepfield more like it. But bombrush is literal video game perfection. It's a real game. Like something we would've got in the golden age of game development (the ps2/gamecube era).
As a person that loves the art style of outer wilds, it is completely reasonable to dislike it. I know this guy tried to add some objectivity to his opinion by throwing out words like "generic" and "too smooth-looking (?)" but it all boils down to whether he finds the style appealing to his eyes or not.
i followed BRC for years, never played a jet set radio game, and i didnt like BRC. Looking back if i just played a JSR game i probably wouldve realized this games not for me. Love lethal league and the team, but i couldnt get myself to play brc past 4 hours. I was very disappointed in the gameplay, it already felt repetitive after 15 minutes :/
Hard agree with that point, if you make a game and you can't say it looks good then it's not finished. Only exception is free games in which case...go off. Idk why I'd make a game if it's going to look like a gd childs drawing. If you are bad at it just throw on some basic textures and filters at the minimum. Or ask for help, so many indie devs will make a game with cool mechanics and art and ask for help with music, so why don't indie devs ask for help on visuals? I think there's often a mindset of "function over form" which is a really shit mindset because you can just...have both. Why choose? A game with no style is a game people forget about, and it shows no passion imo.
Yoooo wtf!! RUclips hasn't sent me notifications about your new videos, I had to check them out myself. Can't wait to watch these last 4 vids, I know they'll be great as always. Btw have you played Hi-Fi Rush? Idk if you tried it but it's hella fun!
Yeah this is really weird considering Outer Wilds has so much going on in art style, shading and lightning in particular are amazing To me it sounds like saying Firewatch doesn't have an art style because it's low poly
This game looks fun, it reminds me of Tony Hawk on the ps2. My brother played it a lot and I occasionaly battled him but he was way better cause he was way more into it. He also skated for real and fingerskates up until this day. Idk man, modern games just play it so fucking save, it's like you already played them. I didn't bother with Starfield for that reason. I guess Baldurs Gate 3 has a soul but the D&D type battle system has always put me off of games that looked otherwise pretty cool. It's hard to find modern games that interest me anymore. I also look back into the past to find some games with that nostalgic something. Tomb Raider being anounced on the switch triggered my nostalgia, with those blocky ass graphics. But I almost feel like I just wanna go to simpler times.
@@chromerot I think for me it's definitely real, because life got harder the older I got. It was a gradual thing.
