Great video - question on when to use major vs minor pentatonic - if its a 12 bar blues that uses dominate 7 chords - major, minor, both?

I wonder how standard guitar tuning ended up on G Major (E Minor) Pentatonic? Customs are weird. Nice to know I can play E Minor Pentatonic without touching the fretboard though (as long as my guitar is in standard tuning). All I gotta do is strum

I know this is a dumb thing to get hung up on, but coming from piano and violin, I'm really confused by these pentatonic scales... why not just learn a "normal" scale with all 7 notes? why leave some notes out?

I understand and it's a common question I get asked. Penta means 5, so it's a 5 notes scale, and is one of the oldest scales we know. This scale has no half-steps in it, so in theory, it makes it easier for you to play. Its cool sound is found in jazz, rock, etc.
