My father-in-law used to make maple syrup every year and I still have a jar in the refrigerator from his last batch before he passed. I have never been able to bring myself to use it. Nor could I bring myself to throw it away. It sits on the shelf on the door and serves as my little reminder of “Dad” and what he enjoyed doing every year! He has been gone 27;years.😥
So pretty! I'll eat the sides you took off. My daddy was from Maine. When we'd visit there from Texas he would always buy me maple candy from a sweet, older lady that lived in a big white house. That was 60 years ago. Such a happy memory. Thank you for this video.
YUMMY!! I used to eat that as a kid, don't really like it anymore, plus I am diabetic!! Looks good though! Stay safe my friend's.🤓👍🤓👍 Randy.
That was cool. Bring on the pancakes.

That's awesome! I got to see the whole process, from beginning to end! That's maple leaf shaped candy! Beautiful! Please give Melissa a hug from me Joe.
That was awesome joe...loved it
Omg! I just asked yesterday on the Northern seclusion channel if they ever sold any of the homemade maple syrup and I was completely star struck when I got a reply back! Now after discovering your channel and seeing how Mr. Joe made the syrup, I can make your candy recipe! I can’t tell you how stoked I am! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Up next Joe, make some maple cream. Growing up, my neighbors made syrup, candy and cream. I've spent many hours in the sugar shack boiling sap. I used to help tap the trees and their collection system consisted of plasctic tubing connected to each spile which all emptied into a huge holding tank. They had a pump at the tank sucking the sap from the tubing. If you have any large trees, they can support more than one tap.
Cool looks really good
Boy , That is a lot of Work ! Very Educational. Thank You for sharing
Throwing some baking Soda in while it’s still hot would make some nice maple sponge toffee.
Sending love and prayers to Melissa and her family.🙏🏻
My mom used to make candy from cane syrup down South. // Sympathy to Melissa and the entire family on the loss of their sister/daughter.
Thank you Marsha
That is so cool!:) I'm quite sure you'll have plenty of maple trees on your property! Semper Fidelis

💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 to you, Melissa, and family. And, so jealous of all those maple trees! Yum! Much love and admiration from snowy Alberta.😉👍🇨🇦 p.s. LOL re " I'm never doing this again!" 🤣
Oh my that candy looks good. Great syrup too. My late husband was from New York and had great memories of making syrup when he was young. Thanks for bringing back memories . I enjoy thinking on them.

Candy From maple Syrup.
Maple syrup..soap.
Lucky you both have each other
I'm not a big candy eater or a baker. I was sitting here thinking that looked like a lot of work when you said, I'll never do it again! LOL I bet it is good. My sister made salted caramel one time. I couldn't stop licking that bowl! Put nuts or fruit in something like that and it becomes my favorite. LOL HUGS~Donna
LOL, we live in the desert -- no maple trees here! But years ago a friend sent me some maple syrup, candy and sugar and I've never bought fake syrup again. It was such a great gift that I'm going to send her a link to remind her how much I appreciate her generosity. Please give our best to Melissa and let her know how much she is missed. She's a strong woman but dang, we all reach a limit. Thank goodness she could take off work to spend time with her family. Great job on the syrup and candy Joe. Most impressive. Those jars are going to look fantastic on those shelves downstairs.
never seen this done before....thanks! and to think I have tonnes of trees outside my door too 🇨🇦
Very impressive 💥
Man you are killing me. All that syrup looks so good but then you add the candy 😋
No way we could do that on the Gulf coast.
Now for the art of making the perfect Belgian waffles & the perfect fluffiest pancakes to enjoy the Maple syrup. 😊 I just found your new channel, well, it actually found me.

Our thoughts and prayers for Melissa and her family during this difficult time. Joe, I was thinking the same thing about the work it took to make the candy. But after hearing your taste test I changed my mind. Enjoy!
I am gonna have to add this to my bucket list. I would think a little would go a long way. Looks very good.
Ohhhhh I'm sick Joe, send me some candy. 😂 Looks so good.
That was the perfect video! You got right to the point and no long introductions. I just finished making 8 gallons of syrup. My goal was 4 gallons. It is just a hobby but very rewarding. I may just try some maple candy. Thank you for the video!!
Looks very lovely!!!! Thank you for sharing this!
That looks good.
That looks so yummy
Looks a lot like caramel. Never had maple candy before. Yours turned out perfect Joe. Looks delicious.
I live in the wrong part of the country to tap a maple tree. Darn. I've heard of kept sugar too, but have never tasted it. The maple leaves were perfect - those slicing molds work surprisingly well. Nice job.
Thanks Melissa the only thing I won’t have is your green achilerda sce , but l know that it’s gonna be great. Blessings! 🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏👏💯💯💯💯
Thank you for showing all of us how much work goes into making syrup and maple candy plus all the good editing you kept up with....
Yum. Love it.
That looked delicious!
Yum
Amazing. Looks so good
Thank you 😋
What a great video! So interesting, I never realized it took so much sap to make syrup. I was told a good tip when making the candy all the loose bits that are left from the molds you can add to a food processor and pulse away to get lovely maple sugar, so yummy in coffee and teas! Thanks for the video.
👍 From Cadillac Michigan
Awesome!
Now you can get a cotton candy machine and use some to make cotton candy! LoL
That's why I'm watching- to learn to make candy for the cotton candy machine.
That candy looks delicious! Great job Joe!
Neat ooooooooooo
If you do this often, you should get a candy thermometer and just hang it on the side of the pan. It is a lot easier to manage the temperature with one of those.
Great video. I'm going to try it this syrup season.
What a delight!
Wow! I had no clue the amount of work it takes to make my favorite candy. It looks so delicious. What a process from tree to mold. You make it look easy.
Well done! Safe travels & prayers Melissa!
Joe that looks so good, thanks for the video.
Good video I know it’s a lot of work but it is worth it 👍
Great video- Joe
Your house has to smell sooooooo good! Great job Joe

Looking good Joe. If you ever want to send me some in California I would be much obliged haha.
Thanks Joe l bet that it’s so delicious!!! 👏👍👍👍💯💯💯
I’m trying black walnut syrup this year. It’s fun watching your videos, I’m getting antsy. Couple more weeks 😊
Wow the candy look good ... the maple we get in the uk is nothing like the US or canada
Thinking about you at this time x
This is so amazing! Wow a lot of work! Well worth it! Praying for Melissa family!
👍👍
My Brother and Uncle and me use to tape 1,000 trees it was a lot of work they would make candy also. I found that the candy was way to sweet for me. Good luck with with the syrup.
Nice video! Using a metal dough scraper across the back of your candy molds would flatten and take off the excess nicely. Enjoy your candy 🤗😁
I’ve never had home made maple syrup that’s was gotten from the sap on ones own trees. Sure takes a lot of sap to cook down to syrup. Long long process I’ve never really had maple syrup but I’m sure in making your own would taste much better than store bought. I really liked the jug you filled, how much was in it? I really enjoy your videos showing processes that go thru making your own in place of purchasing from the store. You are a very knowledgeable man, Joe and it shows by the number of subscribers you have! Thanks again for taking the time.
You sure set my sweet tooth longing for some maple candy .🤣🤣😍👍👍
Yum!
tip for molds. We use wax paper w 8x11 with pleats going the length. It makes long tube shapes candy. We cut the long tube shapes up into bite size and wrap in individual sized waxed paper and twisted on the ends for the candy dish.
That was awesome thank you
Looks SO good! HINT: After dropping into your candy forms use a BENCH SCRAPER and run it across the candy form to quickly remove all the excess...just FYI...I can almost taste it from here in Oregon! :)
Im definitely going to be trying this! Wouldnt be much of a canadian if i didnt 😂😂
oh yum! you could dip in Chocolate bark too! ;)
My uncle used to make syrup with a sugar camp built back in the woods and his syrup was so much better than what we buy in stores today. I wonder what they put in it or if their process is different that makes it taste less strong. We loved when he would give us little boxes shaped from birth bark and full of snow with thicker syrup spread in swaths over the snow and it would be delicious and chewy, like a toffee. Yum😋 we call the candy you made maple sugar and then there is maple cream and that’s my favourite, spread on toast. 🤤
Joe your a great man and your Melisa is a great women...;]
