      Last year they pumped out like 2 years worth of content in one year. This is why the packs have so many bugs. Cus Sims devs simply don't have enough time to finish them and the packs end up rushed. If sims devs would actually have time to finish the packs properly they would be much better and with smaller bugs (cus there isn't a game that when an update happens or a dlc come out that there would not be any bugs)

      @@nina-thi that's definitely sounds like small-brain investor logic because a lot of people watch reviews to decide which packs to buy so the packs been so broken is what is actually causing them not to be bought. They made the basegame free in order to get people to buy more packs but what's the point if there are no packs worth buying for the still-new players who just got the basegame like myself (and I consider myself new because even after two years of owning sims 4, i still haven't bought any packs since they are so shitty.) If packs were worth buying, people who don't own those packs would buy them regardless of how old they are. Electronic Arts is notorious for buying up very good video game companies with novel or popular franchises, then turning that entire studio on its head to make as much money as possible. They're notorious in the video game industry/sphere for buying up video game companies with novel or popular franchises and squeezing out as much money from them as possible at the expense of quality and fun. And when the studio is no longer profitable because people hate playing their games, the studio is shuttered. You hit the nail on the head; they don't care if the game is fun or even presentable.

    You’re so right about the tags, we desperately need more with how much content is in the game now! For example, maybe divide up the decorations further, into dividers, posters, wall decals, hutches, etc. I’m tired of scrolling through dozens of wall stickers to find one painting lol

    Hi, in regards to the weight loss and horses thing: back when i played with horse ranch i made a medium sized sim to be a horse riding expert and spent all the time with her riding her horse. This was also a rags to riches so she mostly just ate things she scavenged around. But soon enough her weight bar was all the way to the top. I found this confusing because all of the other exercise types in the sims make the sims get more athletic, but it was almost as if the game was not counting it as a sport? I think that is the bigger issue because if one wanted their sim to keep the same weight for one reason or another and they wanted them to ride horses, the sim would have had to pick up another sport. Which makes no sense. I think the way they worded it didn’t get the point across and turned out weird (ps. I’m sending the best wishes to you and Snap❤)

    • @gisela_oliveira
      @gisela_oliveira Месяц назад +13

      Yeah, this was pretty visible in James Turner's horse ranch LP. His sim was horse riding everywhere but she ended up really big, just as much as sim that don't workout at all. Sims do gain weight really easy, but it makes no sense that a horse riding champion that also spends half her time stomping on fruits to make nectar is just as big as a mother of 5 kids that just paint canvas all day (his growing together LP, in this case)

    • @bookcat123
      @bookcat123 Месяц назад +17

      Plus the bug report was at least initially focused on the fact that active sims were getting the “bored/stressed from no exercise” moodlet after spending all day riding a champion horse and jumping and so on. Really hoping they fixed that too, not just the weight gain.

      @Eleyrica That reminds me, I'm still irritated that the actual CC skin tones have never been updated since the last time skin tones were changed and I doubt they ever will be because it's been a year or so now. I especially miss the Bare set by Lamatisse. (Edit: to clarify I don't think anyone has figured out HOW to do so because the first two times we had some major updates to the skin tones they fixed the CC ones pretty quickly and CMar even created a program so you could update old abandoned ones too.) This isn't the same thing as the skin overlays which have been repaired multiple times lol default and non-default.

Basically if people stop complaining then it obviously wasn't "bad enough" to really bother them. 🤦‍♀️

    idk if it was a contractual obligation w dark and lovely and ebonix, but it would've been cool if they'd bundled the hair update with the kit release update. I guess technically it's better that we got the new hair swatches earlier, but it could've made for a more impactful promotion of the collab kit, and I'd like it if there were more eyes on that kit. also it would've made this mandatory game update a little more exciting lmao

    The wording on the weight update definitely read a bit weird but it definitely has been an issue! I don’t think it was meant to come off weird.
    The weight system seems to have a lot of weird holes that don’t make sense, and if you’re trying to keep your sim looking like they did when you made them it gets annoying. Another creator had a sim that ran a huge ranch full time, but because gardening, horse riding, nectar making, etc, don’t count towards calorie burning their Sims’s body changed very drastically and it made no sense. Definitely was a needed thing! ❤

    • @notllikethat
      @notllikethat Месяц назад +18

      In real life people ordinarily don't change all that much throughout their life unless they are purposefully trying to do something about it, so why would sims gain weight after filling their hunger need to the full state or losing weight after a couple of running sessions
      As a person who had ED, I find a lot more triggering this way and I REALLY don't want to deal with this in the Sims

    • @IzzyHendrix
      @IzzyHendrix Месяц назад +10

      Weight GAIN should be based on time spent sitting and/or sleeping, weight loss based on high activity skills, and if they have the right ratio of inactivity:activity should stay consistent. Always annoying when they change body types SO drastically SO easily.

    Kayla's explanation of how the 'yippee' feels a bit yucky was spot on! I find it really weird the kind of language the sims uses for a teenage targeted and young adult audience when referencing weight in the franchise, not just in the sims 4, i remember being like 7 years old watching the sim make a grossed out face when you would click on the 'bigger' body size in the sims 2 and remembering it now in my mid twenties- I also feel like it was just a not needed patch 'fix' to add in, if anything why didn't they make it that it increases the fitness skill as well as the horse riding skill because weight has nothing to do with either of those things? just a very odd thing for them to fixate on all around, very well put and pointed out by simsie tho!

    • @PointsofData
      @PointsofData Месяц назад +5

      The weightloss connected to horse riding was something people wanted. Horse riding is a very physical workout, esp if you take into account caring for the horse, and while there are definitely overweight riders it makes no sense for a Sim who starts out thin to be gaining weight while _managing a ranch_ or yeah even horse riding (when taking into consideration the simplified weight mechanics of the Sims.) Cheerleading is also not considered a physical sport that helps you lose weight yet cheerleading is a combination of dance and gymnastics that is VERY physically demanding. There's just weird decision making on what is considered a physical sport and what isn't.
      The wording absolutely could have been better tho.

    Considering the size of the company and the SIms 4 team thse laundry lists/bug fix liste are absolutely hideous. Absolutely ridiculous, incompetent team. Take games such as Baldurs Gate 3 as an example, for weeks they'd push patches regularly that fixed thousands upon thousands of issues. Sims 4? 10-15 tiny things every 20 years.

      Seriously, since getting BG3 3 months ago I swear I have to update the game like once a week 😂 It's great tbh, Larian is amazing. They have singlehandedly raised my standards for what a good dev company is and does, EA doesn't even hold a candle to them in retrospect.

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie Месяц назад +13

      The team isn't that big if you break it down by which bits the people work on. They have lot of people working on graphics (double digits), far fewer working on game mechanics/coding, and even fewer working on bug testing and fixing (single figures). They also have their bug fix team separate from the original coders. Normally bug testers throw the bugs back to the coders to work on. But EA has the coders start work on the next packs meaning the bug testers are having to fix the bugs. If you've ever had to debug someone else's code you'd understand how hard that is. Very serious bugs that require the experienced coders as opposed to bug testers (often only interns) then end up having to wait until they are done on the next pack/s as EA execs won't let them work on things which aren't bringing in money unless its hurting the brand image (which upsets investors).

      Please trust me, this is not the Sims team. It is Electronic Arts. They are notorious in the video game industry for buying up video game companies with novel or popular franchises then squeezing as much money as they can out of the studio before shuttering them because no one wants their games anymore. The fact the Sims has any heart or fun in it at all is testament to the fact the Sims team is doing their best, but they're being given impossible deadlines and likely being worked overtime to meet them.

    With the way weight gain works in TS4 (with no base metabolic rate, all sims gain weight from eating any kind of food if they don't regularly exercise) it is important that anything which would be exercise in real life counts as exercise in the sims. Sims who ride horses regularly should be able to maintain a consistent body shape without having to also regularly run on a treadmill. However, the phrasing "yipee" is a bit gross. They're just fixing an inaccuracy bug. YeeHaw! would be better
    Also, gardening and cleaning should count as exercise.

    My childhood cat sadly passed away last year, due to blood clothing. Probably something you should ask the vet to check because when they catch the enlarged heart early it is quite cheap and easy to treat but sadly it is not something that is routinely done.

    Oh Kayla I completely understand watching your fur baby go through something like this and worrying about what can possibly go wrong. Its ok to cry if you need and thank you for the kitty update❤.

    Thank you for always being very sensitive with the words that are used when talking about someone's appearance. It means the world, you have no idea

    I love that you take the time and effort regardless! It makes me feel like I've got a friend to look through the patch notes with. So thank you!

    i’m so happy to hear that Snap is much better! Sending you tons of love. I also had a kitty named Holly. We found her in the middle of a street when she was just a baby. I was about 11 when we found her. She passed in October of last year and it was really hard. She was my best friend for 10 years. I agree that it is the most hardest thing to witness your cats in pain and not being able to do anything or explain to them. I’m so happy that Snap is doing well 💕🩷 I hope and pray that you guys have many more years together 💕🩷

    I didn't realize this was posted minutes ago lol. I'm already playing. As far as I can tell... this update changed literally nothing. My mods haven't broken even slightly. So... yeah. Remember!!! BOYCOTT THE SIMS!! The packs will be there when they fix the game(and cheaper). And I'm someone who liked to preorder everything. SOO

    I wonder if that thing about some maxis sims being previously not allowed on the gallery is about Nighat Caliente, cause I know her first name/part of it was blocked? Although that might have been fixed already, I’m not sure

    I often get plants that LOOK like they need care, but are completely fine : No weed, no insect, properly watered and close to be able to evolve, yet, they look like plants that desperately need tending.
    Hand weeding mostly work, but, using the weeding machine is totally broken. Currently, I have my spell caster cast the Floramodial spell a LOT !
