To be fair, I agree with what she's saying BUT her delivery is doing the opposite of what she intended it to do. Nobody likes being preached at, they will automatically get defensive and once that happens, you've lost them. Honestly, I feel like she did it like that on purpose, cuz I refused to believe she lacks so much self awareness that she doesn't know how she's coming across.
PS: I saw a video a few days ago of a young lady that stole a very expensive wig from a wig shop and I was just sad honestly. That is what it has gotten to.

I'll just drop my two cents: As someone with AA (Alopecia Areata), i've recently started experimenting with pop on wigs and lace fronts to gain some confidence back after so much hair shed. I had pretty much a full head of hair three months ago, and wash n gos and mini twists were my favorite styles. I was growing my hair out with these styles and was on my way to achieving bra strap length until...AA hit me like a truck. I know lace fronts don't look real, but right now, I don't know how else to cope. I'm hoping I can have some growth by spring or summer. In the meantime, I'm trying to put the least amount of stress on my hair as possible.

Thank you for sharing this!!! I truly understand your frustration and im so tired of this mean girl culture within the natural hair community. My natural hair was down my back until I had a horrible allergic reaction to braiding hair. Within several hours, my scalp was on fire and scarring. I was in agony! I took the hair out immediately and went to urgent care and dermatologist, diagnosed with allergic contact dermatitis, prescribed pain medication and topical steroid. About 25% of the hair in the rear of my head is GONE bc of this crap! This occurred in July 2024 and thankfully it’s finally starting to grow but my scalp still aches from time to time. This completely derailed my natural hair growth so im starting over. Until it’s what I WANT, glueless yaki color wigs, it will be for now. I wish you well on your hair journey and don’t let anyone deter YOUR path.

    • @LoveHumble24
      @LoveHumble24 День назад

@skindippedingold Thank you so much for sharing your story as well. ❤️ I'm so sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you're on the road to recovery. What I wish people would realize is that this wigs vs. natural hair argument is not as black and white as people think, just like many other issues within the black community. Some seem to forget that others wear wigs not because they want to, but because they feel they have no other choice. I'm not choosing to wear them bc I hate my natural texture (I LOVE my curls). I'm wearing them because my kitchen area is nonexistent. 💀 As for those who wear wigs bc they may not like their hair texture, you really just have to be uplifting and encouraging at that point. Attacking someone for their own life choices will just make them retreat even more. We, as a whole, just need to be more loving, respectful, and vulnerable with each other.

Also mine look natural I buy $600 units and have professional stylist do my installs while also taking great care of my natural hair. To each their own. You missed the point of the video. She was not comparing frontal and natural hair. She was comparing frontal and every other hairstyle. What is stupid about a frontal is the fact that you put so much work to make it look like it’s growing from your scalp but we can still see it doesn’t. Al hairstyles are fine, including weaves, braids, etc. frontals are weird. That’s all.

Because debates like these often involve external exchanges of internalization, I find it important to emphasize the value of empathy and understanding. People live vastly different lives, but could be rooming right next to each other. Battle your frame of mind, challenge your ways of thinking, expand your point of view. Without making space to discussed nuanced topics like this, who would be interested in entertaining another's comment vs. making the comment. Insults aren't a necessity, challenges are.
There is peace to be found in acceptance, and there is acceptance to be found in self love. But what you can't see, you can't internalize. The media (amongst many other things) has put so much hatred, division, and confusion in the face of our communities. Because in a country like America, the dollar is what makes the effort and nothing's more profitable than capitalizing off of humanity.
I can't blame people for not knowing, education and empowerment are tools to make a better life for yourself. But I do condemn ignorance, even if I myself become ignorant, it means my ego got too big and I need to practice humility. I hope videos like these continue to inspire more discussions, that provide a number of different perspectives, loved it!

Frontals always look like helmets, even the most expensive ones. Just wear your hair out. If you have a full head of hair irrespective of length, just wear your hair out

You were doing so well until you brought men into it. Why do we have to narrow down a woman’s opinion to men? It’s not always about them fgs. How did we go from lace frontal to embracing your natural hair, to "men won’t pick you?"

I feel like her delivery was fine. Everyone is so sensitive these days. She was keeping it very mild and nice if you ask me. So many women are walking around here in denial about their disdain for their hair and walk around looking like literal freaks with these lace wigs that look horrific like something out a horror movie with the lace wigs. And even when you try and say that in a nice way you are met with the defensive denial talking points. So if she wants to talk about it that way I think it’s fine.if you feel offended then don’t listen and keep walking around looking like a freak. That’s just how I feel.

Okay but what about hair loss?!?? Why aren't people leaving grace for women who literally are balding due to the stress we have to deal with in life AND ALSO colonised hair care that cause people to train us to damage our hair as children. In my case, a racist person who wasn't trained to do 4c hair burned me so badly my hair scalp never recovered. Hair often doesn't grow back. What is this shaming and blaming going on?

Why do people bring this up?! Of course NO INE IS TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO NEED THESE TYPES OF WIGS. It’s the people who actually have hair they are hiding while trying to portray that this wig install is growing from their scalp. And, a lot of the installs are contributing to alopecia and balding.

LACE FRONTALS ARE STILL NEW TO ME. I've BEEN DOING HAIR SINCE THE 60S I USED TO USE PEOPLE OWN HAIR EDGES WITH WIGS AND IT LOOKED SO MUCH BETTTER. LACE WIGS ARE FOR MOVIES. If YOU GET A WEAVE, USE YOUR OWN HAIR LINE LIKE WE DID 15 YEARS AGO IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER. Don't GET MAD AT BLACK FOLKS, MY SISTERS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO GO OUTSIDE WITH OUT THEIR HAIR PRESSED AND THAT CAME FROM OUR AUNTS And GRANDMOTHERS THATS HOW WE WERE RAISED AND IS PART OF TRADITIONAL BLACK CULTURE. YOU DONT HAVE TO RELAX YOUR HAIR IT CAN BE PRESSED AND HOT CURLED AND THAT LOOKS BETTER THAN A RELAXER!

I love my natural hair, but I will use wigs (glueless because I love my natural baby hair) for when I want to add color (I don't want to damage mine), or recently I plan to retain length using Chebe the original way and use a natural wig as a variety option to my turban. However, I usually wear my natural hair and feel most confident in it. Her delivery was terrible. Not everyone that wears a wig doesn't love their natural hair. Thank you for your commentary!

Yes, condescending and immature delivery. I was happy when lace fronts came out. It's not that I don't like my hair. I like being able to change to straight hair without ruining my own hair. They helped me to grow my hair out. I never had nice edges so even when straight my short beady edges were not. I received negative comments about my 4c hair my entire life from family, friends, schoolmates and in dating. I put on a wig and people ask what country I am from. In my natural hair, there is no question I am of African descent! I wish things were not this way

Babe, why does one have to be forced to wear the hair that grows out of their scalp? How can a person be “forced” or “coerced” to do what their hair does naturally? People are born natural, what do you “everyone should go natural in their own time?”, they were born that way. Idk why a person has to be convinced to wear the hair that grows
out of their head. People had to be coerced to NOT wear their real hair for so long that people get offended when they say your real hair is better 😂

What is she is saying makes sense but no one will like to hear it. It is silly we are the only race that will wear someone else’s hair, but on top of that why do women feel the need to make it look “unclockable” when we all see the grid. I’ve seen the video and the lady wears wigs because she is an actress and people won’t hire her with natural hair. In my opinion her issue is this need to compete on who has the best wig, whose own looks more natural meanwhile you sacrifice your own hair and we all know that you are wearing a wig. So I agree with both of you but I don’t think her method is helpful.
