Have a blower from Walmart an displaying the same symptoms. Thought it might be a build up in the jets .. Giving this a try later this am Thank You
This worked great. I thought I was going to have to clean the carburetor, thanks!
Worked like a charm, thanks! Definitely gonna try burning it off next time
Glad it helped!
Not only was it the spark arrestor clogged so was the muffler replaced with a new OEM muffler and arrestor and works like new thanks Mate
Awesome!
Helpful and gets to the point.
Good👍job keep up the good work
Awesome job brother 👊🏼. Ty
Yes always check spark arrestor then fuel filter. After that check spark plug and air filter
it worked mate
Thanks! The hardware store repairman wouldn't tell me about this simple fix because he could charge $8.00 per minute to fix this. I'm old and I hate noise so I put the gizmo back in.
My blower won't idle but throttles fine. Any advice?
Easier fix, take a lighter and burn off the carbon deposit. Takes about 2 minutes and no brushing required. I do this annually on all my Stihl equipment.
I took mine out and it still bogs down ??
mine bogs down but I removed my spark arrestor and IT WAS CLEAN. NOW WHAT? BG55
What's the name to this. I always thought it was a muffler tail pipe thingy. lol also can I order this on-line? I have the stil blower also. ThxDallasCityOfChampions
Easier way to fix...Cut off that screen with a hacksaw! It will never-ever clog up again!...I cut mine off 2 years ago and never looked back...SH56c blower works like new ever since!..........You may be able to just remove the spark asesor all together and be just fine, but I opted to cut the screen off and stick the plug back in.
Incidentally this leaf blower is the exact same as a Mountfield MBL 270V.
And has the same issue.
My advice for best solution to clean it is to use caustic oven cleaner. And allow to soak for an hour. P.s avoid spraying oven cleaner on aluminium parts.
Also use oven cleaner to clean turbos and egr valves. Or better still delete your EGR valve completely but keep the turbo.
Mine bogs down when its cold
Use a torch on it and it will burn the carbon off
Good video, but next time you don't have to bring the object so close to the lens, it makes it out of focus. Just kind of hold it up and people will see what your talking about. Good video.
But if that's not the issue check your coil
Blow torch it, cool it down and wire brush after.
Works every time.
You can fix this even easier by holding the spark arrester by the cone end with some needle nose pliers and using a propane torch to heat the gauze area until it glows. Once cooled the carbon will be burned down to ash which just brushes away easily. Make sure not to use too much oil in your fuel or better yet just use the STIHL motomix fuel.
since he’s 16 and married, i’ll take his word for it. thanks mate.
Experience
Thanks! I was getting ready to replace the carb. This fixed my Stihl SH-86C immediately. I hit the mesh part with a propane torch until it got red like someone else mentioned and then took a couple passes with the wire brush. Carbon came right off and looks like new.
Glad it helped
I have a Husqvarna BT150 (backpack) blower. You have to remove four Torx screws to get to the spark arrestor screen. It's a good idea to have a magnet to retrieve screws when you service this. The screen in mine didn't look clogged. I cleaned it and the box around it anyway. The blower seems to have full power now.
What works even better- throw that spark arrestor in the recycle bin
very good problem-solving. However, I would just say instead of brushing the deposits out of the filter I used brake cleaner and it washed right out.
Great video. Fixed my problem in 15 minutes. Glad I saw your video because I was about to overhaul the carb. I didn't know this component existed.
Grab that screen and yank it lose never have problem again
3 minute fix. Worked wonders. I thought it was for sure time for a tune up. Saved me probably $30 bench charge. Thanks man. Awesome!!!
Glad it helped!
Cheers mate, just save me going to get fixed. Much appreciated.
How about just removing the gauze ? Then it’s not going to get blocked up. The odd spark out the exhaust shouldn’t be a major problem. ?
The main cause of this is a rich oil mixture. The more oil in the fuel, the more it will carbon up the arrestor.
I add too much oil to mix, mine will be a bit tacky sometimes. I'll hit it with a torch too, burn a bit out of the nooks and crannies the brush doesn't get easily. Nice vid!
Great advice. Fixed both of my machines. Thank you!
Someone please explain the difference because i have a bg86c and there is no spark arrestor in the exhaust, do i have to replace whole exhaust?
This saved me all the time I would have wasted yanking the carb on my Stihl 86C. Cleaned the spark arrestor and it works like it should. Thanks!
Even after cleaning the spark arrester still bogs down some day it's a weak coil
The steel brush worked like a charm, less than a minute and now my leaf blower sounds and works great, thank you!
Great to hear!
I cut the whole screen off with my hedge clippers 😎
You're just so good honey. Big thanks. 👏👏👏👌
My BG86c went low rpm and bogging after I put in fresh gas/oil 89 octane mix. Thought I had bad gas. The spark arrestor was it! Thank you much!
Right on! This worked like a charm... nice job!
if you're in High fire hazard area you need it otherwise just get rid of it the spark arrestor screen police won't notice
I have not yet tried it. Just a few months ago I replaced the carburetor and a new fuel filter. It ran perfect. When I'm done with the blower, I empty out the gas back in the container. Now it has did the old bogging again. Just now after replacing the spark arrestor and related components. So I will try the micro screw adjusting another time. Two cycle engine carburetors can be very delicate.
Is this just the spark plug or what is the correct term for it.
I have a makita all gas blower that will start fine but when it give it any amount of gas it shuts off
It is the spark arrestor found at the end of the exhaust 👍🏼
Great, I only have one hand.
The video helped me locate the the Spark Arrestor on my Poulan Pro but, the Spark Arrestor is a Screen built into the Muffler, if you have one of those, remove the Muffler, Spray some Carb Cleaner or, Brake Cleaner in it, Swish it around, and blow it out with some sort of Pressurized Air and that should do the trick, it worked for me, Blower runs great!
Thank You !!!!!! Going to try this today.......
I just got a new blower opened it smoking overheating and not hitting full revs
It sounds like its out of tune - take it back to the shop and get them to tune it
I know this is an older video, but I do have a question. My leaf blower only seems to finally get power when it's about to run out of fuel. Could the problem be with the carburetor?
Excellent open my carb and all ......done this and 100 thanks so much now can get back to work mowing lawns lol
Was exactly what it was on mine.. fixed it quickly and work better than ever.. kept overlooking it until saw this video. Thanks for sharing
I have a Craftsman blower that works for about 5 minutes then stalls out and won't start till it cools down they told me it wasn't worth fixing is there something I can do because I don't want to throw it out
Cut the screen off
Heizen und verbrennen ist beste reinigung
Thanks this taught me something it worked and made mine run again thank you
would you not clean or rinse it with gas as well before you put back? just wondering
worked for me thank you
Thank you for this it fixes my BG56
Good evening sir I have a problem with my my husqvarna 125B blower I put new carburetor I prime it it strat then cut out I don’t know what else to do please help thx
How old is it? If youve cleaned your spark arrestor, changed your carby.. have you changed your fuel filter? Im posting another video tonight, on why your 2 stroke engines stop working after a couple to a few years. It has some really good info in it. Stay tuned for it!
I use my tiki torch on the back patio and the flame from it cleans just as good as a butane torch, takes a little longer but burns all the built carbon off of screen for certain.
Thanks! Saved me time and money. No repair shop trip!
Thanks bro cleaned the spark plug and its good
THANK YOU VERY MUCH 🎉🎉🎉
You're welcome 😊
Very helpful video buddy done mine thx !!
Will definitely try this out. Thanks brotha! 🤙🏻
Hope it helps 🙂
Thanks, found this today and fixed my Stihl BG 56 blower bogging down right away!
Glad it helped!
And if the spark arrestor is not blocked?
Hope it works for a Craftsman too!
Great tip. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
My Blower cuts out completely is that the same issue? Not looked at checking that yet.
Yeah mine would bog down and cut out when putting it on throttle. So its a good thing to check first - the spark arrestor
Thanks for the video
I also have an Echo chainsaw that I've been using for a few years with no problems but I went to use it this year and it takes a long time to get it started I have to take off the air cleaner and add fuel to it to get it started do you have any idea what the problem could be? Thanks
Check the fuel filter as well. If it's been a few years that's probably it
Super helpful bro! Cheers from DFW Texas!
No problem! Glad it helped you!
Thanks for the tip . It worked for me.
I am experiencing this problem with a Troy Bilt blower. I installed a new carburetor and that didn't help. I removed the spark arrestor altogether and the problem is still there. Any ideas?
Yes, it starts and it idles, but it bogs down when I hold down the throttle. I also put on a new gas filter, and that didn't help. Going to change the fuel line next. Thanks for your reply.
Thanks. I'll look into that.
Brilliant great fix thanks.
My Echo blower just started stalling out. Thanks for sharing, great video! !
Happy it helped!!
The perfect fix for me! And easy. Thanks!!!
Glad it helped!
I use a blow torch and make it glow red. Burns the carbon away to look like new.
Yeah thats also another good way to clean carbon!
Good on ya mate! Good job with no shaky camera work.
Thanks followed your advice fixed my Stihl today👍
Glad it helped 🙂
My Husqvarna backpack blower has been doing this every time I use it. Going to try this. Hope it works.
Hope it helps Gary
Did it help?
My spark arrestor doesn’t seem to be able to be removed?
Some it seems cant be removed, depending on your model. Another type of spark arrestor ive seen on a trimmer i have has to be lifted off with a flat head screw driver. If all else fails ask your local shop how to remove the spark arrestor 👍
Hope it helps
I get rid of my spark arrestor screens on ALL of my 2 stroke engines.
Yeah thats fair enough. Under some councils it is illegal to have them removed, but i doubt they would check your equipment if you did remove it.
simply cut that Obama manifestation off...Problem Solved
Worked wonders! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Thanks, I am now going to check mine.
Total winner mate! Thanks for that!
No problem 👍
Awesome job! I have a sh 86 c and it fixed it
Awesome, glad it helped!
Great explanation. Easy fix.
Thanks for the video man. It fixed mine!
Glad it helped
dont even have spark errestors in the uk :L
my 346xp bogged down with one here in uk
Thank you. Worked perfect.
Cut the screen bit off
Do you guys in Australia blow leaves on the left side of the road, too?
😂😂😂
Watching Grass Grow all seriousness, I tried cleaning the screen and it still bogs down. Any other ideas what it might be?
Have you seen my latest video? Might be a good help. If the unit is a couple years old could likely be the fuel filter. I explain in the video 👍 Hope it helps
ruclips.net/video/fIB3L25iTKM/видео.html
Just remove it!!!!
Lots of help thanks
Glad it helped!
thanks for posting this.
Mines a bg 56 c and on the exhause where you are unsrewing the spark arrestor out theres no screw head on mine is this normal
Ive got 2 and both have a screw that can be undone with the socket tool that comes with the machine. Then they usually are just screwed off with this
@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial i have 1 and it dont !
Thats really weird! Id take it to the store you got it from and ask them to show you how to move the spark arrestor!
@@WatchingGrassGrowOfficial lol just brought a new one bg 56c and again no screw on the outside of the exhaust to take it out and you cart open it up to do from the inside
Was thinking this is a uk stihl blower thing with them ?? Where is yours from
Mine is from Australia
u dont need it...take it off
Take it off and you risk sparks spitting out to our exhaust and catching the dry leaves you're surrounded by on fire.
