The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Great seeing Keely breaking character and enjoying herself while still singing with those great pipes of hers.

One extra comment, for all of the jazz enthusiasts out there, this can also be classified as a jazz song, as well as rock pop or even easy listening.
    The potential arrangements are endless.
This is a timeless and underappreciated classic.

not a fan of this typical shtick....used by prima......it was actually disrespectful to the singing talent of Keely Smith....and belonged in the past

Yeah, as much as I enjoy the antics, I'm convinced her working with him kept people from appreciating her truly fine and distinctive voice as they would have. For example, she and June Christy and Peggy Lee were contemporaries, but the latter two are strongly remembered as outstanding popular singers of the time, while Keely Smith is not.

I backed Keely on double bass when she guested with the Jive Aces on her last ever shows.. She would always talk very fondly of those times with Louis. It was part of the act. He gave her many solo performances during the shows and on record with out the antics. A fabulous voice and a very funny lady.

@@kensmith8546 , glad to hear that. And I loved the act. But she was so good, I wish she'd made more recordings. And I wonder about her potential as a comic actress in movies? I judge that it would have been extremely strong.
