I was born in Madrid, Spain, and had to become an American citizen. My parents adopted all four of us children while they were living overseas and working for Brown & Boot, Inc. I love American history.
Thanks Steve I really enjoyed these visits to the grave of the presidents I've never been able to go and see their graves so it's nice to see him this away you take care and God bless
Beautifully maintained place! So good to see you Steve! The town is also pretty. Sad this president didn’t support the gains of the civil war re emancipation and citizenship.
One interesting thing about Andrew Johnson is that after he left office in 1869, a few years later he was elected to the U.S. Senate but passed away before taking his seat. The only former President to have been later elected to the Senate. John Quincy Adams as a former President was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Nice job Steve, enjoy seeing all the presidents gravesites ! Not one of my favorite Presidents nor is he perceived popular by most but non the less its history ! THANKS ! Bob
I know I've said it before but when your video are a little longer I get excited because I know you'll have a bunch of interesting facts. Who would think to talk about the outhouses of former presidents? Awesome.
Watch and love this video you did on this nice cemetary in the name of the 17th American president Johnson. I might say very nice place to visit and very clean too. Nice historic site to visit. Never went to this state of Greenville in Tennessee. Watching this video from Paramaribo in Suriname.
Thank you very much Steve for the very nice video ! Really love your channel and all of your videos ! Happy I subscibe to your channel ! Hope youre having a good fun day !
Hi Hoosier, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thank you so much for the generous donation. That's really nice of you. You'll be getting a shout out soon! :-)
Thank you. Enjoying your President series. I will keep my opinions on Andrew Johnson to myself but he was a disgraceful president. He didn't understand the Civil War changed America.
So glad that people like you are making these videos for everyone to see. For someone who is married to a US veteran (we live in Western Australia), I would never be able to visit all these gravesites. Thank you. These days, many people are destroying anything related to their history.
Hi Steve. Very interesting information about him. Impeached and wrapped in a flag . Maybe he wanted to show he was a true American . Thanks again for all your great vlogs! Take care. Deborah Canada
Great information and beautiful place, Steve. I recall back in the fifties in elementary school learning that Andrew Johnson was the only president ever impeached. As you say, that has changed. recall that we thought the word impeached was very funny and inspired visions of throwing rotten peaches at a bad president…kids eh. Take care and look forward to your next one. 🦘
Great job once again. Happy fathers day buddy. All the best. If it gets crazy hot in Palm Springs (like that never happens) maybe do a vlog to see if you truly can fry an egg on the sidewalk. haha
Steve. Thank you. I enjoy the videos very much. Two questions. Would it be the 13th amendment and not the 14th ? Also, with the veterans graves surrounding his site, were they Union , Confederate or both. He was a US President but was from Tennessee ? Thanks again. I look forward to the next trip to the cemetery !
The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and was ratified in December 1865. Steve was correct in stating that Johnson opposed the 14th Amendment which gave all individuals born in the United States (or legally became citizens) regardless of race citizenship rights. I believe that the cemetery contains the graves of veterans from all wars in addition to the civil war. Johnson was originally born in North Carolina, but spent most of his life in Greenville, Tennessee. He was on the city council, served as mayor of Greenville, served in the Tennessee state legislature, and served in Congress as a representative and senator from Tennessee. Johnson was the only Southern senator who refused to leave the Senate when the Civil War started and still claimed to represent the state of Tennessee which had left the union. He also served as military governor (appointed by Lincoln) of Tennessee. After being impeached, he was elected once more to serve as senator, but died before taking office again as a senator from Tennesse. Greenville is a pretty town. I was born about 50 miles east of Greenville in Northeastern Tennessee.
It is great that you are visiting all of the Presidents' gravesites. It is very informative. Thank you Steve for sharing such accurate history. I am a historian and my love is Abraham Lincoln. By the way, I live in a very small town close to Louisville, Ky. I am so sorry that you were locked in Cave Hill Cemetery. The officials of the Cemetery need to be more efficient in running it. Of course, help has been short or not at all do to the pandemic.
Stunning graveside! I am covered my the Neptune Society but now rethinking that, lol. Kidding! Beautiful quaint town of Greenevile. I lived in East TN as a young child, Rogersville. Scenery is gorgeous. Was never a fan of Johnson and to be wrapped only in a US flag...what can I say. Thanks, Steve! 😊
Love seeing all these Presidential monuments Steve…your presentation is way more entertaining than history class 😂
Plus, they're illustrated!
Thank you for your service young veteran, may you never be forgotten.
DOH!
I am not even an American but I love how dedicated you are to this series - very interesting and I always learn something from you.
I was born in Madrid, Spain, and had to become an American citizen. My parents adopted all four of us children while they were living overseas and working for Brown & Boot, Inc. I love American history.
President Johnson's drinking was no secret among Washington politicians. He was visibly drunk during Lincoln's 2nd inauguration in April, 1865.
@ShadowAmongstTheMasses The guy was from Tennessee. The birthplace of bourbon.
Always learn something new in these vlogs. How cool that he was buried wrapped in a flag.
I visited Andrew Johnson's grave back in 99'. The countryside is probably one of the most beautiful of the Presidential resting places.
These visits have been amazing and so interesting. Thank you, Steve! Happy Father's Day! 😊❤️
It teaches us a lesson...If you want your legacy to persist, don't be a jerk !!!
Thanks Steve I really enjoyed these visits to the grave of the presidents I've never been able to go and see their graves so it's nice to see him this away you take care and God bless

Taft, served in the House, president and chief justice in addition to governor of the Philippines and post master.

I was held captive not knowing the allegations for his impeachment ...Thanks Steve :)
They did make the movie back in 1942. It's called "Tennessee Johnson". 2 hours and 4 min.
Thanks for showing. Great job.

President Andrew Johnson was born in Raleigh NC....
Steve - Another great story! Thanks so much!
Thank you. Enjoying your President series. I will keep my opinions on Andrew Johnson to myself but he was a disgraceful president. He didn't understand the Civil War changed America.

Steve did you know president Johnson became vice president because he was against the civil war
Beautiful country! My cousins lived there!
