- Lincoln's Assassination shocked the nation, and there were even rumors that his Vice President Andrew Johnson had something to do with it. Either way, Johnson became president upon Lincoln's death, and every historian agrees he was rubbish in comparison. He was so bad that he was the first president to be impeached. What did he do that was so lame? Watch and find out!

Ugh. If not for Johnson, the worst parts of the Jim Crow era may have been avoided. And he was never even elected president. He sucked so bad.
You can thank the radical Republicans for the KKK and Jim Crow. What they and their carpetbaggers from the North did to the white Southerners was unconscionable. North and South, Americans grew disgusted with those policies. Johnson stood alone against them. He was a true profile in courage.
Abraham Lincoln: Picks Johnson as his new VP
America from 1865 to 1869: *oof*
Ikr why does the best pres have to be in the middle of the 2 worst pres Buchanan and Johnson? And a pres as good as Abe shouldnt have a vp bad as Johnson.
@@abrahamlincoln8037 It was mostly to present a "America United" image in a divided Union. Lincoln, and I assume other national republicans, believed that sharing a ticket with person who they thought represented the south in a would symbol the dire need for peace. However, I think if Lincoln kept Hamlin as his VP he still would've won. But who knows? :P
This decision still impacts us today in a worst way.
That was a terrible mistake Lincoln ever did. The fateful one he did was to dismiss Ward Hill Lamon so he could go to the theater without a bodyguard.
Seriously, how has Tommy Lee Jones never played Andrew Johnson?
He played Thaddeus Stevens instead lol.
An amazing question. Which is insane since he played Thaddeus in Lincoln
I think Josh Brolin is more similar than Tommy Lee Jones, which isn’t much of a difference because Brolin also looks like young Jones
Millard Fillmore looks like Alec Baldwin too
Lincoln definitely goofed picking him as his vice president. A big oops at a critical time.
Lincoln didn't expect to get shot though. Otherwise Johnson was a bone throw pick for Democrats.
Uh oh! This mistake proved to be catastrophic which led to Lincoln’s assassination.
well the plan was to have Lincoln choose Johnson as running mate to show a union between democrats and republicans to encourage votes for him. Andrew Johnson was never supposed to be President
@@matthewhedrichjr.5445 that’s not what led to Lincolns assassination Johnson was supposed to be killed the same night Lincoln was because he was viewed by Booth and the other conspirators as a traitor only Booth successfully carried out his “mission”
This very useful for any project like a president report
I think you meant he vetoed the admission of Nebraska not Kansas. Great video though.
Exactly. Kansas became a state in 1861, about the time the Civil War broke out. Nebraska was the one that gained statehood in 1867.
Andrew Johnson notified Congress & The Office Of Tenure Act only applied to cabinet members of the current administration Stanton was a Lincoln appointee.
In 1926 the Supreme Court ruled the Tenure of Office Act unconstitutional.
Very Shakespearean, Andrew Johnson is basically American Iago
“Do you mock me?”
“I mock you not, by heaven. Would you would bear your fortune like a man!”

Damn, Thaddeus Stevens looks like a sad, shaved Abraham Lincoln.
Arené Lomax although on 12:15 on the fourth fact, it’s kinda accurate about TLJ

Honestly strikes me as a scary dude. Probably would have been if not for his clubbed foot.
He was responsible for the carpetbaggers reign of terror on the South. He hated white Southerners.
Stevens hated Lincoln and Johnson. Johnson tried to implement Lincoln's moderate reconstruction plans. Unfortunately the South suffered as Johnson stood alone against the radicals.
The dismissal was perfect. 😂
Johnson followed Lincoln's reconstruction wishes much to the chagrin of the radicals and carpet-baggers. He stood alone against hate. A true profile in courage.
Finally, he's been one-upped. Ergh. I wish he could remain champ.

😬 Ehhh...
IDK... Johnson was _pretty_ bad, though...
Although he may be ranked one of the worse, I still think it's cool he's my distant cousin.
lol
How was Thanksgiving at your home in 2008?
Oh
I don't believe you lol

its pronounce ra-lee
1:23 actual imposter. its all so obvious now...
As President - AJ was going to make all appointments to offices; almost anything is forgiven - in his beginning he was pro-north - the south must pay
Abraham Lincoln should have kept Hannibal Hamlin as VP, and stayed a Republican en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_presidents_of_the_United_States
He did stay a Republican, do your research. The Republican party started March 20th 1854 when a group of politicians separated from the democratic Republic party and joined with the WHIG party to form what is now known as the Republican party running it against slavery I say again against slavery anti slavery. In this video it clearly shows the South all covered in red. Now do tale how the republicans party started in 1854 and then in only 11 short years it converted the entire South to Republican. How was this possible? It's not possible, into purgare prove the truth what you're saying is wrong. Just look up in your little faithful I can always go to week of pedia and search the KKK. It will point you to far Right organization that is against African Americans, leftist, etc. Then go to the historychannel.com and look up the KKK, it'll show you the complete opposite. Now as most people who are anywhere privy only Internet at this point, knows that Wikipedia is edited by any and everybody. Where we all know how some people like the spread the truth and not so much the truth. Bottom line, people need to realize that there are people out there that can be trusted. But for some reason this slips people's minds when it comes to government and anything on the TV. The only the wake-up forced to late. Good day to you all God-bless us all. Trump 2020
Try to decipher the speech to text. Lol No talking politics while driving!!

0:36 wrong pronunciation of Raleigh
Very good very good.👍🏼
Dang you butchered the pronunciation of Raleigh my guy lol
Yeah definitely lol
The second I saw looks like Tommy Lee Jones I laughed.
The original forefather of the Party of the Klan.
Truly an awful, awful villain of a worm of a man.
Actually Steven's vindictive policies toward the white Southerners caused the creation of the KKK and the Jim Crow laws.
If you think Trump is the worst president, wait till you find out about this guy
Raleigh is pronounced ral-lee
And Surratt is pronounced Sur-ROT.
Sir can u post a video about how to remember organic named rections easily....Nd y we have to remember them nd wr can we use them???
Name reactions are basically standard reactions performed by the person they're named after which are now used somewhere.
For example, the Sebatier Senderenz reaction used for the hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons in the presence of Nickel, Palladium or Platinum.
This reaction is used to synthesize saturated hydrocarbons which are used in the food you eat.
Although unsaturated hydrocarbons are healthier than the saturated ones
He only opposed these measures on constitutional grounds.
That doesn’t matter! it made him more unpopular when he went along to disregard the Radical Republicans and Congress
Yes
I love you.
A. Johnson, Clinton, & now, Trump. 🙂

I like Andrew Johnson, one of my favorite Presidents!
Why?
Uh I don’t think he was good because of he handled Reconstruction very poorly and opposed everything Lincoln worked hard for but I respect your opinion
I like Andrew Johnson!!!
Racist bum
Wowwww
Andrew Johnson only opposed the 1866 Civil Rights bill on constitutional grounds, Johnson freed slaves in Eastern Tennessee as Military Governor! He could have a good, if not, great President.
Oh so we’re making excuse to make African Americans not eligible to vote?
You’re kidding?! You realize he’s very racist which is unpatriotic! He just cared about his own selfish ego and the constitution
Sam Bradley
Yeah, maybe.
_Big_ sad it didn't happen that way though...
Interesting that in 2020 while I'm watching this story about the worst president in history, 2 ads for his replacement as the worst president* in history come up. Hopefully trumpski will soon be forgotten too.
He wasn't the worst, Buchanan was, which is sad because Buchanan was one of the most qualified people for president.
Biden stole the election, and those protesters, who made a riot, were BLM and ANTIFA activists
And know trump.
And now Biden, who’s even worse than Trump
