I just bought one of those and love it. As winter approaches and the sun is going away this UV Lamp set up works great for curing Knob Pine cone pendants.
I agree! I wasn’t sure that I really needed it, but now I’m so glad to have it. 🙂
This was the best tutorial I've seen for UV Resin lamps. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Cathey, for the nice comment! Hope the video was helpful.
@@SandyHuntress I bought on from Amazon Prime right after I watched your tutorial. It's a bit simpler and has no tray. I put it and items on a 12x12 tile and it works fantastically! Thank you for all your tips. BTW mine does not have a tray and it's a SUN
Thank you for sharing this video because I wasn't shaw if the UV lamp was right one for these projects now I know it is ty
Thanks for letting me know you found the video helpful! Happy creating, Angel :-)
I have one of those for nails. I might need to try it for resin sometime.
👍🙂
Great minds think alike! I just got the same one 2 weeks ago!!!!
:-D Happy creating, Christine!
Where do u get it from?

🙋🏼♀️Hello everyone, what a GREAT video! But I wanted to mention something that people don’t think about when choosing the UV resin they use. The resin gel used for nails is made up of the same stuff as we use for crafts. The difference with UV liquids/gels is they come in different thicknesses and colors. Some of them won’t leave that sticky residue after they are cured. Solarez makes a thin UV formula that cures “Bone Dry”. Also the UV resin brand called “Let’s Resin” tends to dry without a sticky film. There are several great UV liquids on the market and there are a few channels here on You Tube that have done reviews of different UV resins. So you might want to check them out to find the best resin for your needs. I hope this helps. Happy crafting everyone, take care, Dee😁👍
Thanks for all the great information, Dee! There are so many different types of resin out there, I’m sure it can be quite confusing, so any guidance is helpful. 👍
Happy creating!😀
Wow !! Thank you for this!! I was trying to figure out how to bring the shine back to my UV resin charm!! I was foggy , i added the clear nail polish gel top and then cured it!! 🙌🏼 my shine is back.
This is amazing!!!
It's the kinda thing you read and go duh why didn't I think of that 😂
A few uv lamps on Amazon without bottom trays, also uv light torches for setting small things like jump rings 🦆💕
Yes, all useful options!
Hi again, Sandy, and thanks again for some good ideas! I had to put some WD-40 on my tray and it worked good after that. I use the tray all the time when using small pieces. Also, I set the timer on my phone since the timer on my light is useless.. I think it goes for 180 secs and that's all. Useless!! Great idea about not using the tray with larger things.. THX!
Good tip about setting the timer on your phone. I usually try to go off and do something else, rather than waiting for the thing, lol.
@@SandyHuntress same here, and I have forgotten about it for an hour or two before and it didn't burn or anything.
@@jpitzner1951 Good to know! :-D
This is an area I want to explore. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Very very helpful. Since I've never done this modality before, can you over light (?) Use too long?? I also noticed in this video that the yellow rose is hanging out. Should it be completely covered? Thanks for reply. 👈💜✌️☯️☮️🙏🌫️
Hi Connie, Those are both good questions! I haven't seen anything out there cautioning you to not leave your UV resin too long under the light or in the sun, so my guess is that it's not an issue.
The entire piece of resin cured, so if a little bit doesn't fit under the light, it should be fine. If it's ever not, you can just flip the piece around and cure for a few more minutes.
Hope this helps, happy creating!
Have you thought about ditching the tray and just putting the unit on top of a mirror? Just thinking 🤔
That's a clever thought, Kathy! At the moment it works fine to leave it in place. If I find myself making a lot of things that are too tall, the mirror trick would be handy. Tfs
Awesome I've been looking for a good UV lamp unfortunately this one is no longer available as its now 2022 but I found another one similar in white with the same basic features and title for £20
Glad you were able to find one. Happy creating!
Yes i need this.
Hope it was helpful!
yes mostly
I see a lot of Amazon reviews for the MelodySusie lamp saying one or all of the bulbs died after two months, or the actual fixture had bulb sockets that failed after a couple months.
What has your long term experience been with it?
UV LEDs aren't in the best wavelength for curing resin efficiently, so I liked how the MelodySusie used florescent bulbs.
I just wasted $18 on a 24 watt curing light (36 watts is recommended minimum for my resin) that the manufacturer lied and called a 82 watt fixture. and I don't want to waste $40 more on a curing station (MelodySusie) if it'll break after the warranty ends.
Thank you much.
It’s not some thing I use all of the time, but so far it has worked just fine every time I’ve used it.
Thank you very much. I'm wondering if I can use uv lamp to cure epoxy resin.
You are very welcome, Alba! Lots of folks had the same question, which is why I made the video. :-) Happy creating!
No you cannot use uv light to cure epoxy resin, you can only use a uv light for resin if the resin is designed to be cured witih uv lights aka: uv resin.
I am wanting to get into jewelry and keychain making. Can you help me with picking out a good beginner kit
I’m late very but there’s a SUMERBOX I just bought as a beginner with colors and resin and a letter mold that comes with the hooks already in! On Amazon
do we have to wear PPE when using uv resin (e.g. ventilation mask)? as i heard for epoxy you do and i’m afraid for my health.
It's a good idea, especially if you work with resin a lot. At the very least you should have good ventilation.
Hello!
I want to start making resin crafts and my boyfriend has a uv lamp, the kind people use for tanning. Does it work? ❤️
Greetings from Finland.
Hi Maryam, that's a very good question. And the answer is... I don't know! I'd suggest you make a small test piece and try it out to see if it works. Be sure to let us know your results. :-)
@@SandyHuntress it works ❤️ I'm ready to start this!
I have multiple LED/UV lights because I’m licensed to do nails and do gel manicures. I use mine for curing my UV Resin as well! I was going to give you a couple tips that helped me (one was going to be to turn the mold over to cure the back but then you ended up doing that, lol). I cure for 5-7 minutes depending on the size of what I’m doing. Also, sometimes the piece will be sticky, or my mold will feel sticky, and some alcohol on a lint free pad takes care of that.
I’m wondering if you took some oil, even olive oil, and just ran some on the sides of the tray, if that would help the tray to pull out more smoothly?
I do love UV Resin - I’ll try to remember to email you to talk about the different brands out there!!
Thank you again for sharing your talent with us! 💜
Thanks for sharing about wiping away sticky with alcohol. I meant to mention that in the video and forgot!
can you recommend me son uv lamps plz for resin
Alejandrab49 The biggest thing to look for is the wattage - if it’s less than 48W, it may not cure through completely. Go on Amazon and search 48W CCFL-LED lamps and choose what works best for you. Good luck!
Nails by Sharon Hi!! I had a question for you since you’re a nail tech... I am doing a jewel piece on paper, since sometimes (or ... maybe all the time) you use the Uv light to cure jewels on nails- I was wondering if you thought putting the top coat used to adhere the crystals on to nails on the surface of the paper and then curing it under the uv light would work the same? I’m desperate to find some sure fire way for jewels to stick!!!
Jessica Hi! It should work if you can make a kind of thick puddle so when you put the jewel in, the gel goes around the sides like a bezel. I have a thick gel that I use on nails to adhere crystals - it comes in a little pot. I’m sure you can find it on Amazon. Oh, and a very important tip - make sure you do NOT put gel/polish/glue on the top of the rhinestone. That will mess up the light reflection and it won’t shine/sparkle. Good luck!
I just got in to wanting to create resin art/resin pieces, I was wondering if there was resin that didn’t need to use the light or is meant to be cured that way?
Yes, there are two-part resins that don't need a light. You need to be precise about measuring and following the directions for these types. Happy creating!
I was wondering. Will 2-part resin dry faster under a UV or will it not do anything?
That’s a good question! No, 2-part resin won’t be affected at all by UV light, it cures by a completely different chemical process.
Sorry to ask but am new to resin and i have read that it needs 24h to dry .. so can i use the nail dryer instead of leaving it all night as it doesn’t take time?? Or its another kind of resin?
That's an excellent question, and one I get asked so often I made a video to answer it. ruclips.net/video/BAEXEqy3sTE/видео.html
Hope this clears up any confusion. Happy creating!
Question ~ when you cured your pieces in sunlight, did you put anything over them to keep out dust etc while they cured? Thanks!
I never did, because then it would have blocked the sun!
@@SandyHuntress Oh sorry. I guess I had something clear pictured in my head such as a glass or glass baking dish. Hmmm. I may have to experiment If I can ever decide which UV resin to try! ha :) Thank you!
Honestly, I never thought of doing that! The UV resin cures very quickly in the sun, so unexpected “inclusions“ were never an issue.
Hi! wondering if I could cure small pieces using UV resin outside in the cold weather? (I have a UV lamp). Do you know if temperature effects this? I do not want the odor and fumes in my living space. Thank you!
It’s the sunlight that makes the difference and not temperature. So you can cure outside on a sunny day, whether it’s warm or cold.
Does UV resin have an odor? Epoxy resin certainly does, but I didn’t think UV resin did.
@@SandyHuntress Thanks so much!! Yes, well at least the UV resin I have used. I did it indoors once before, wearing a respirator so I could not smell anything, but my fiance noticed a strong odor.
Is it possible for the wattage to be too high for UV resin? For example is 150W UV lamp still okay for UV resin?
That’s a very good question! I don’t think it would matter, I think the higher wattage would just make your resin cure more quickly. But you would have to experiment to be certain.
Hello, do you know what wattage that lamp is? I purchased a 36 watt and started experimenting yesterday but the pieces are still not cured. Do I need a higher wattage or am I doing something wrong?
It's 36 watts. Double check the directions on the type of resin you are using. Is it UV resin? If so, try putting it in the sun to see if it cures.
Do I need to cure longer if my uv resin is cracking. And why type of glue can you use on cured resin.
I'm not sure why your resin is cracking. What are you putting it on? What are you putting in it? How is it being used?
The best glue for resin, is more resin! :-)
Cabn you recommend a good silica for flowers?
I use Wisedry silica gel from Amazon 🦆💕
can I use any kind of resin with this lamp, or only UV resin?, btw very helpful video!
There are two main types of resin: one cures in UV light and the other cures with a chemical reaction, usually by started by mixing a hardener or catalyst with resin. The two types are NOT interchangeable.
So, no, only UV resin will cure under a UV light.
(Although one might argue that the UV cure IS a chemical reaction, but let's not be confusing, lol.)
@@SandyHuntress thank you for answering this question. I just watched a video called 5-minute crafts and they were showing resin drying in the UV light. I am excited to work with resin. I've purchased two different brands of few months ago. And they are the kind that you mix the hardener. So I'm kind of bummed that it won't dry with my gel nail polish light ☺️. Anyway, thank you so much for your video. Have a great day ❤️
Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress hi can l use normal resin with uv light or only uv resin thank you 🙏
Hi Sandy. What resin do you use please? It seems really handy that you are just squeezing it out of the bottle :) Thank you 😊
UV resin does not need to be mixed, so it can simply be squeezed from a bottle. If you need to use an epoxy resin, that is composed of two parts that are mixed together, as I explain in the video.
Make sure you watch the video carefully so you understand the difference between the two types of resin. Happy creating!
can I ask where you got your silicon molds?
I saw them on amazon resin kit
Hello my friend
Is this strong material that does not scratch easily
It depends on the brand and the type. It’s a kind of plastic, so hardness is relative.
I have the same kind of uv lamp and the tray is the same, I gave up on it and just slide things in
Yup, that seems to be the best solution. :-)
I tried using a UV blacklight flashlight from Walmart,. It cured my pieces in seconds. Literally seconds. And it was only about $9. If it's a bigger piece I do layers. Only thing is you can't do many things at once, but with it only taking seconds... It's about the same time as putting a lot on the light box. 😁😉
Wow, that’s awesome! I got one of those flashlights and it truly tried my patience, which is why I ended up getting the lamp.
Do you mind sharing the brand? Thanks for letting us know about something that worked so well for you!
@@SandyHuntress I'm not sure I'll look. It was a cheap UV resin also, but works really well. And yes only seconds to cure. I just saw this comment. Didn't get any notification you left one. :/
Hello can u share the brand of the UV flashlight or light and the resin u used please?
@@vidchic18 I wonder if this same Walmart UV flashlight would help cure dental resin fillings, too? Hmm. Thanks. I have no experience using such resins.
Hi
I have used my epoxy resin project on my table with 1:1 ratio . It’s more than a week now . It has been done but its sticky on the surface. I’m in a dry country , due to its stickiness I can’t use he table now anymore . Why is it so?What to do with it now?
It’s hard to know without seeing the actual product you used.
I’d suggest you carefully re-read the directions for your particular resin. Not all are to be mixed at a one to one ratio, there are other factors that can affect the curing as well.
Resin can be tricky!
I bought a uv light with 36 w I'm putting resin under it for 15 minutes is not doing anything. I'm wondering does it have to be a special kind of resin for it to work? Or i just need a stronger lamp?
Is it UV resin? What do the product directions say?
@@SandyHuntress no it's not
@@sallyk9834 If it's not UV resin, it will NOT cure under a UV light. Watch this video to clear up the confusion: ruclips.net/video/BAEXEqy3sTE/видео.html
Does it only work on nails? Or does it work any UV resin?
I’m starting to make combs and keychains
It works on any UV resin.
@@SandyHuntress thank you!
also how many watts is your uv lamp? i heard more watts equal quicker cure...thanks
It's 36W. The quickest cure I've found is to put the resin out on a sunny day!
@@SandyHuntress yes sun works best for sure...thanks
How long should we put resin keychain under the light for it to cure?
You’ll need to follow the directions on your particular brand of resin.
Typically it'll harden after 20-30 minutes.
Hi, if I left Resen 24 hours, will it dry without using the UV device ,please?
If you are using UV resin? No. It will only cure under UV light, either a UV lamp or direct sunlight.
There are so many different types of resins, be sure to carefully follow the directions on yours.
so lets say you don't completely cure...will it finish curing by it self in a couple of days? or can you put it outside the next day and sun will finish in an hour? thanks...
If it’s UV resin it should cure in the sun. It’s a 36 watt lamp.
@@SandyHuntress i ordered a 200 watt one off of ebay for $10... i hope it works...I thanks
Is UV sterilizer & UV light the same?
Sorry, but I have no idea. Have you tried searching that question on Google?
I tried drying it in the sun but it only dried the top layer
It sounds like you have a different brand of resin. Be sure to read and follow the instructions for your specific type, as they can vary.
Can we use normal flashlights as lamps instead
No, that won’t work. You need a UV light.
@@SandyHuntress hard luck😔
@@riverpaul1516 You can use the sun, that's free. :-)
Can you use normal resin with this?
If you mean two-part resin, then it is not necessary.
What should we do if we dont have uv light lamp for resin?
You can cure UV resin in sunlight. I went for years doing it this way.🙂
@@SandyHuntress how about epoxy resin? Can it work?
@@kristinevictorino708 Epoxy resin will NOT cure in UV light, only UV resin will. This video ruclips.net/video/BAEXEqy3sTE/видео.html explains the difference between the two type of resin.
What if im making a big tray that wont go inside ?
Putting it out in the sun will cure UV resin.
i am using a uv nail dryer and after several minutes the charm is still sticky. WHy is this? kinda bumming me out
That is a bummer, Elle! There are SO many different types and brands of resin out there. You have to read the directions for each one carefully. They care vary quite a bit.
I haven't tried them, but I've read that some resins for nails do remain sticky after curing and need to be wiped to remove the sticky residue.
Is there a lot of smell coming from this? Can I do this inside without getting complaints from my partner?
Hi Wendy, I can't smell, so I can't be much help. That being said, my husband is sensitive to smells and has never complained about UV resin.
Some has smell but it’s not really big difference
If you're concerned about smell but still want to do resin, UV is the perfect way to go! It just squirts out of a bottle, so there is no mixing involved such as with 2 part resin-that stuff is stinky.
I want to buy price pls
I don't sell them, but you can get one here: amzn.to/3RmO9Lb
How to overcome the sticky uv resin
Try putting it out in the sunlight.

Mine`s not working in the sun ....
Then it’s likely that you don’t have UV resin. Read the directions on the bottle for correct curing instructions.
So I been waiting to get a heat gun. And could have been. Using my uv light the whole time????
A heat gun will NOT cure UV resin. You need UV light to do that. Either light from the sun, or an artificial UV light will work.
can you cure it with a black light flash light?
You can cure it with a UV flashlight. I’m not sure if they’re the same thing.
Can this be for epoxy resin
No, a UV light will only work for UV resin. Check out this video to understand the difference: ruclips.net/video/BAEXEqy3sTE/видео.html

Ma'am, can UV radiation be used to cure epoxy?
If you mean, can you put it in the sun to cure, then yes, UV type resin will cure in sunlight.
@@SandyHuntress Thank you!😄
what is resin ?
🤔
Sorry: 'UV or LED lamps can't be used with regular nail polish, and the polish won't dry any faster if it's placed under the lamp. When a UV or LED lamp emits UV light, a chemical reaction occurs that causes the polish to dry or cure. UV light causes a polymerization reaction, which hardens and cures the gel polish.'
Thanks for the info, perhaps helpful to some folks who are confused. 🙃
