Please by extremely cautious sanding resin. Inhaling the dust can cause serious respiratory problems. I am not allergic to anything. Always had great health, then suddenly I found myself in the back of an ambulance with sirens on with huge problems to breathe. At the hospital there were eight doctors, nurses and surgeons ready gloved up ready to save my life. It happens that people find just the right “stuff” that irritates the mucus lining in your lungs and respiratory tract and they instantly swell up leaving you with none, or a very tiny opening to breathe through. When that happens, your life is threatened and you are minutes away from dying. I am a tough girl, never been sickly or timid, and like all of you I thought these few seconds of sanding couldn’t possibly be harmful. I did buy the decorom resin too but have not used it for anything yet. Nice to know that it will warp flat peices. I very much like the finish you got with both resin peices. I also like the design you made.
It does but only very slightly for me st least. When I take it out of the light its slightly warm I take a clean tile and push down flat to help it flatten out some that seems to help. I've used this alot and sold alot w using it and no one but me has ever mentioned it so I think it's just us being picky it had a nice finish too. I love it's cheaper and cures so quickly

My biggest problems with UV resin thus far have been trying to use mica based powders- the color is lovely, but the light doesn't penetrate through, and so I get wet spots inside of the gems, for instance. I suspect I will need to try only filling a little, then hardening it, repeat repeat etc. WIth 1 2 part resin I can fill the gem molds and let it sit and it is fine; it is only the uv which gets hard on the outside and stays wet inside.
Thank you ❣️❣️❣️ I so appreciate this video. None of the videos I’ve seen discuss what to do with with resin ‘edge spills’…I’ve thrown away quite a few thinking they could never be fixed. Have you ever used UV Hard Resin ( black bottle with green foral pattern).?

When you use torch go over quickly, did the flame touches the resin? This is always my question as I can’t see the differences at mine (I didn’t let the flame touches the resin)
Hi Katie, you have done so much experimenting I wanted to see if you would be so kind to lend some advice on using the product for a glass vase repair? It is a chip that I will need to fill and also I may need to add a small bit of light lavender. It is about the size of a half dime and the top will be flat once filled with the resin. How would you recommend tinting and any other tips?
Love this video Katie. I have quite a few pendants in the scrap bin where the resin has gone over the edge and bubbled at the back. Thank you for rescue suggestion. Also would it be easier for you to waft a UV torch over the uncured resin just to set a little before taking to your lamp. xx
The concern I have w a hand held light is it is concentrated Ultra violet light which is ultimately what causes skin melanoma but other than that say I cure the outer layer like that one pendant then I tipped it too much you would get the rippling again mainly just to show how people could fix and issue not really how my issue was created because you make enough and u test w other resins its bound to happen at some point its more what do you do when that happens is what I was going for
Hahahaha. Who was the door opener. Hahaha. Buahahahah haha the dog. Like mine. I was wait a minute. She's like hey and I could smell a dogs doing. So relatable while crafting. 🤣🤦🏾
Hi Katie, What do you do if you have small divets on the surface of the resin when you take them out from under the light? Do you clean your clay pieces before resining them? If so how do you clean them? Thanks
Um I don't usually maybe tiny tiny ones but because I'm wearing them I don't do a test piece something small like a quarter inch by a quarter inch I would just rub w 99 alcohol and thin top coat
Ok so I use UV resin and after it’s cured I used alcohol to remove sticky but it makes it look dull! No matter how much I cure it it always looks dull! How can I fix that?
@@rterry2752 i guess u could try to estimate how much it is going to curve before hand but that all depends on how many layers or how thick your resin is and how thin or thick your pendant is but hey if it bugs u may be worth trying I dont notice it when wearing as I said the little bit does not bother me one bit just pointing it out that it will happen w most doming uv resins compared to 2 part resin
Did you ever have problems with curing? In made two batches of about 3 and only one of each worked, I’m really confused and frustrated especially because of the price of the Uv resin.
Nope but I cure longer than what they say I have two how I resin polymer clay videos which go through my process the updated one I believe I say how long I cure and what light that's usually the problem not a strong enough light or not curing long enough
Not that I have seen so far I mean when u apply it no matter which if the 6 or so resins I have they are not as bright after the resin is applied right off but I have not seen any of them discolor in the last year or so
Hii! One question! I have the same brand of UV resin and it looks perfect.. but after a few minutes directly under the sunlight it turns really really yellow!!!! Any advice? What should I do? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!!
Jessama Tutorials did a video on this - something about you have to go back to it after so long I think to check it and re-add it if necessary. Don’t quote me on that lol but it was something like that. Love your videos by the way ❤️
I'm her patreon member and I've watched every video she does two design pendants as do alot of others but I made these flowers and translucent cane with no tutorials I did a lental swirl for the base which is a common technique I dont believe I copied or plagiarized anyone of her videos she is a group member as well and I'm sure she would tell me on fb if I did copy her tutorial thanks for the note tho. She also usually uses regular resin not uv resin i still though this would be helpful for people having issues
@@rebornboulevard9581 oh sorry must have read that wrong not a big issue sometimes w a certain uv resin I get a little spill but not often at all usually when I'm rushing which is what happened here. Figured I'd take the opportunity to show how to fix it
Haha no problem. This is a great video. I’ve never used uv resin before and the 2 part just takes forever to dry so it would be nice to try. I love this bead
I can't seem to find any videos on it, but do you happen to know what to do if the resin is tacky/sticky when done curing? I am curing for the full time under the lamp, but my pieces come out sticky.
I cure 30 min for a 2 to 4 min resin and 60 min for a 30 min resin under the premis same as we bake clay for an hr even tho it says 30 min usually its undercuring also make sure u r using the proper watt light usually 36 w. And some will have an inhibition layer its an uncured layer of resin in the chemical process that needs to be wiped off w alcohol but I'd start w curing longer
i bought a uv light and also a uv resin hard and a siliconed sphered mold but its not curing properly it gets hard yes but it is still sticky. any tips and advice please im trying to make sphere pendants
If it's in a mold it might not be penetrating through the mold well enough I saw a resin tut once n the had to do half at a time check out regular uv resin videos
I have been trying to make UV resin bookmarks and they won't lay flat. How do I avoid this? It's driving me crazy. Just like the piece you made but worse. Any idea of what I can do?
@@katiegordon610 I did solve it sort of. I put the light farther away from it and cured it slower as you mentioned with the two-part resin. It seems to shrink less when you do that. U wanna make sure u pull it to and slighltu over the edge but if it pulls back far which it really never has for me others have but not that one 2 things I would do either re coat it fully or grind that little bit off the edge of the pendant to make it match
@@Decopainterandtea I didnt think she was criticizing at all that's why I said what I said like Haha well good they r my figures not yours like if I were to happen to cutmuself it would be my own fault but what alot of people dont realize is I work w blades in a 1 inch space all day instruments sharp enough to slice ur finger open w no pressure at all with a tongue moving cheeks tightening and all kinds of other weird things going on my tactile ability is pretty attune and what's a little cut. Most the time I have a thumb or some figure fulcrum to prevent cutting but alot of people dont notice that either
I was thinking the same thing , I've done the same thing for years , most time I got away with but I've sliced the ball of my thumb a dozen times or so also, better to place against some thing and cut away , les control but less booboo's.
I’m so sorry to keep asking questions but I’m finding that there are a couple kinds of UV lights. There are lamps that have long light bulbs or most of them have LED bulbs. Are they both equally good or is one better then the other? Thank you so much for your help, you’re amazing
Well uv resin is not LED two different lights so I would say search UV light not LED lights also buy one known for PC if its confusing for you tiny pandora makes a light specifically for what do w PC. Or maybe Google the resin u plan on using and what type of light it needs then research the type of light if it says uv great if it says to use led then get one of those but uv is not the same as led yes they r both types of lights but they may not cure each product the same depending on what product u r using. Like some nail polishes both cure w uv and led but some only need one specific wavelength of light so the other would not work it's like comparing Pepsi to coke they r both soda and similar but different too I'm not an expert in this I just got the tiny pandora light because I know it works w most of the resins I plan on using w PC
What does pc stand for is it polymer clay and why does it not get cured like in a one inch tube pendant I have curd for hours and still got bubbles and it's soft can you use to much alcohol ink and powder will that make not cure it
I know this is an old post, but I didn't want to buy more supplies so I just tried my red carpet nail lamp and it works super well. Like, better than any other I've used. I bought it at ulta years ago and it came with a ton of extras so I can now do my own nails and make a lot of my own home decor and gifts. I'm saving so much money it's unreal.
I only use regular alcohol when I do that not the 99 percent like 70 percent I think it is. Also make sure you are curing long enough people who have issues asked me all the time and if they add another 10 min or so to the cure time most the time it fixes their problem
Some resins, especially the “soft” version, in my experience, leaves that sticky layer, no matter how long you leave it under the light. It’s called an inhibition layer, and is just part of the process, apparently. You just wipe it off with alcohol like the OP states. ITV hasn’t happened to me in a while though, so maybe newer formulation of UV resin don’t leave an inhibition layer?
One not cured all the way. Two using too high of an alcohol percent like 99 which will remove the shine use reg alcohol like from the drug store those would be my options
Depends some projects I do some I don't if the back can be a front yes if not no I show u guys in the pendant projects if I do but really its personal preference and how comfortable you are doing that cuz if it runs u may ruin a side
Very interesting video and great tips, thank you. Am just starting out with UV resin and am in the UK, so not sure if I can get the RJ crafts resin. See my how to uv resin it pulls away some but then more is slightly needed so add a little more pull to the edge if it pulls away add a little more again until it stops

I have also found that if it pulls away and you don't find out until after you have cured it, you can do the same thing that was done here. I add another thin layer, and make sure to pull it all the way to the edge, and it usually will fix that, too.
@@EJPARSONSUK, you're welcome! Lol, I'm still learning, as well. That's why I'm watching RUclips videos, haha. I'm still trying to get my sides to look good. OH MY GOD THE BLADE. also thank you for the video 🥰
I'm cringing too.
When you use torch go over quickly, did the flame touches the resin? This is always my question as I can’t see the differences at mine (I didn’t let the flame touches the resin)
Im wondering the same
Hi Katie, you have done so much experimenting I wanted to see if you would be so kind to lend some advice on using the product for a glass vase repair?
It is a chip that I will need to fill and also I may need to add a small bit of light lavender. It is about the size of a half dime and the top will be flat once filled with the resin. How would you recommend tinting and any other tips?
Love this video Katie. I have quite a few pendants in the scrap bin where the resin has gone over the edge and bubbled at the back. Thank you for rescue suggestion. Also would it be easier for you to waft a UV torch over the uncured resin just to set a little before taking to your lamp. xx
The concern I have w a hand held light is it is concentrated Ultra violet light which is ultimately what causes skin melanoma but other than that say I cure the outer layer like that one pendant then I tipped it too much you would get the rippling again mainly just to show how people could fix and issue not really how my issue was created because you make enough and u test w other resins its bound to happen at some point its more what do you do when that happens is what I was going for
omg your dog is cuuuuute!
Hahahaha. Who was the door opener. Hahaha. Buahahahah haha the dog. Like mine. I was wait a minute. She's like hey and I could smell a dogs doing. So relatable while crafting. 🤣🤦🏾
How long did you give it under the lamp? Mine take long and come out sticky I am using the same brand
I use a soft nail file, fine and extra fine.
Will UV resin work on a high domed cabochon such as a half sphere or will it run off?
Hi Katie,
What do you do if you have small divets on the surface of the resin when you take them out from under the light? Do you clean your clay pieces before resining them? If so how do you clean them? Thanks
Um I don't usually maybe tiny tiny ones but because I'm wearing them I don't do a test piece something small like a quarter inch by a quarter inch I would just rub w 99 alcohol and thin top coat
Ok so I use UV resin and after it’s cured I used alcohol to remove sticky but it makes it look dull! No matter how much I cure it it always looks dull! How can I fix that?
I had UV Resin with glitter separate from acrylic. What did I do wrong?
Cure bake the ploymere so that its got a curve before the dome resin ??
I'm really not sure what u r asking
@@katiegordon610 The dome rv resin makes it curve up. So pre curve it down while baking ?
@@rterry2752 i guess u could try to estimate how much it is going to curve before hand but that all depends on how many layers or how thick your resin is and how thin or thick your pendant is but hey if it bugs u may be worth trying I dont notice it when wearing as I said the little bit does not bother me one bit just pointing it out that it will happen w most doming uv resins compared to 2 part resin
@@katiegordon610 Got it, thanks tons.
Can you tell me where you get your torch? I also wonder which uv light you use. Lucky you to have those beautiful dogs!
Tiny pandora light I have a video showing it my torch is just a little one off of Amazon
Where did you get your bails? Thanks and awesome work!
All over Amazon. Etsy, ebay
Does the resin discolor in time specifically over white? Thank you ahead!
Not that I have seen so far I mean when u apply it no matter which if the 6 or so resins I have they are not as bright after the resin is applied right off but I have not seen any of them discolor in the last year or so
love your work, iwanted to ask what to do with finger prints over uv resin?
Wipe them off just like glasses or mirrors smooth clear stuff like that will always get fingerprints unfortunately
thanks katie
I like the blue and green bead. Can you show how you made the cane for that? Or is it in another video?
It is a barbed cane
Thank you Katie.
Love your dog!
Hii! One question! I have the same brand of UV resin and it looks perfect.. but after a few minutes directly under the sunlight it turns really really yellow!!!! Any advice? What should I do? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!!
I have de deco one!!!
Omg I wasn’t meaning you were copying lol! I was just saying that I’d seen her do something about resin shrinking if it was any use to you!
Hi Katie, can't find the disc for the Dremel, can you send me the link, if they are still available? thank you
So how do you remedy the smell after it's been cured? I just started using UV resin and it leaves a pretty strong scent on my finished product
Watch this one
ruclips.net/video/k_F0SA6_5sc/видео.html
Do you resin the backs of your pieces?
Have you tried limino if so how does it compare to this?
i bought a uv light and also a uv resin hard and a siliconed sphered mold but its not curing properly it gets hard yes but it is still sticky. any tips and advice please im trying to make sphere pendants
Any idea of what I can do?
not really sure maybe a 2 part resin they dont really curve because it is a slow chemical cure
@@katiegordon610 I did solve it sort of. I put the light farther away from it and cured it slower as you mentioned with the two-part resin. It seems to shrink less when you do that. I wish I could use the other resin but I'm allergic to it. It's a shame because the UV resin does have some disadvantages. Thanks for replying.
If it's RJ Crafts, why does it say DJ Crafts on the bottle?
Just wondering.
It does say rj just the font is different so the bottom line for the r is small its Rhonda Jones but she has changed her business name in the last year or so
@@katiegordon610 What has she changed it to? In case I want to order something from her.
I actually don't know ask one of the fb sites people who have been in pc for a little bit will know she has her own fb page I don't order much but that resin and it's been a year or more since I have
Gorgeous dog
i am using the sun to cure my resin... not sure if its fast cure or slow...seems the thick like your fast cure... i have a 200 watt nail lite which only stays on for 90 seconds,,, i have tried hitting button like 3 or 4 times and its still very tacky,,, then i put out side for 30 mins and not tacky... any suggestions? do you have curing uv resin issue videos? thanks
Two of those videos click on my name on here click videos and they will be all under their I can not copy and paste in a response on my phone in the creator studio so check that way please at work so not access to a computer
A computer that is for personal use medixal facility lol
How can I fix a doming issue, where the deco resin did not go all the way to the edge, can I add or I have to take it off completely?
U wanna make sure u pull it to and slighltu over the edge but if it pulls back far which it really never has for me others have but not that one 2 things I would do either re coat it fully or grind that little bit off the edge of the pendant to make it match
Katie Gordon thank you I’ll try it!
Hi there, I have this issue with uv resin where the smell lingers even after cured for days. Do you have this problem?
I have not
Love the video but the way you're using that exacto knife gives me anxiety 😳
Well good thing they are my fingers and not yours right 😉
@@katiegordon610 I think she was showing concern, not criticizing you. At least that is how I read it.
When my uv resin cures there are tiny minuscule bubbles even though I run a BBQ lighter to pop them. Any tips or suggestions as to why that is?
It happens to all of us some reains do it more than others
Libby's Cositas hi there! I use a 15 w uh light. I had a 36 w before but I thought it might help. It still makes a lot of bubbles
When I take the sticky layer with alcohol it takes all the shine too. Any ideas why these is happening?
FROM WERE u buy small drill

What watt do you suggest? There are so many it can be overwhelming
36 is generally good but check the recommended per the brand resin. u intend to use
I'm new at this, I have a question. You don't put resin on the back?
Depends some projects I do some I don't if the back can be a front yes if not no I show u guys in the pendant projects if I do but really its personal preference and how comfortable you are doing that cuz if it runs u may ruin a side
Very interesting video and great tips, thank you. Am just starting out with UV resin and am in the UK, so not sure if I can get the RJ crafts resin. I've been using a resin off Amazon but not the same brand as yours. Do you have any trouble with the resin pulling away from the edges? I have seen your resin on Amazon UK, so would consider trying it if you have no such issues. Gorgeous beads by the way. Just subscribed to your channel and looking forward to checking out your other tutorials. Many thanks again, Emma 🤗😊
See my how to uv resin it pulls away some but then more is slightly needed so add a little more pull to the edge if it pulls away add a little more again until it stops
@@katiegordon610 Thank you. I saw and watched your 'how to UV resin' video just after I posted that message; very helpful. I'll give your advice a try .... fingers crossed 😊
I have also found that if it pulls away and you don't find out until after you have cured it, you can do the same thing that was done here. I add another thin layer, and make sure to pull it all the way to the edge, and it usually will fix that, too.
@@ValerieEarl Fab! Thanks for the tip. Still learning after all this time 😊🤗
@@EJPARSONSUK, you're welcome! Lol, I'm still learning, as well. That's why I'm watching RUclips videos, haha. I'm still trying to get my sides to look good. I tend to get a lot of shrinking on my edges and they look awful. Experimenting and watching videos has helped a lot with previous issues. Good luck!
So kewl ! 👍🏻
If I try to wipe it with alcohol when it has a sticky layer, it will just smear and scratch the resin!
i am having that issue too. and no matter how long i cure it it is still tacky.
make sure you’re using 70% and not a stronger alc content like 90%
My Dog Whine's every night around the same time and we can't figure out what she wants but man its annoying!! Ahh you have a Pit.. Yep its like having a permanent dog coat. Big babys!
Sorry can i get the name of the resin in the tin please... Deco...
The decor rom? None r in a tin though
@@katiegordon610 yes sorry, i found it in the end, thankyou
You gave me so much anxiety with that scalpel 😅
Haha hey I have blades like really sharp instruments in a 2 inch or less space all day working under the gums trying not to cut them I don't think people realize how sharp our dental instruments are I got good hand skills
@@katiegordon610 I should hope so 😂
I have problem when my uv resin curse its sticky how do I fix that problem??
Cure longer I do 30 min for a 2 to 4 min resin and 60 min for a 30 min resin under the same premis of we bake the clay for 60 when it says 30
Double like for the pitbull 😍😍
Does this resin smell when curing?
When curing mine does not some resin has a smell normally but I have not noticed them increase when curing
I currently use Limino brand which works very well but it does have a smell when curing and I need to have good ventilation.
The decor rom does not seem to have a smell to me or the rj crafts again both have pros and cons. The tiny pandora does have a strong smell. The lisa pavelka one does not smell badly either just thicker even in the warmer weather
@@katiegordon610 I think that I will have to try. I have ultra dome, deep shine and Lisa Pavelka. They all have their good points. :) Thank you for your advice. It is much appreciated. :)
my resin is always sticky even if its not in a mold ?? why is thaat and what can i do about it??
I'm not sure contact the manufacturer maybe something is wrong w the resin maybe your light is not the right watts for the resin
It happening with me too, i tried 2 types and all it ends stick
Your lamp is not strong enough , this happened with me with a small lamp I now use a 72 watt and it’s now not a problem .
I have tried some uv resin, but there are some lines on it when I cure it, can u tell me please What I do wrong as it does not become completely clear?
I have gotten clear ripples before kinda of like oil slick looking i think its when I over heated it or left it out too long when I was playing w it not really sure do small tests and try different things
You need to sand it with sandpaper all the way up to 1000 grit or more then polish it
3:52 🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍🤗
Could you paint the uv resin on ?
If u want a super thin coat I dont get as good of results but play w it on baked scrap clay or pieces u made u r not happy w
Cute pitty
hard ;)
