    Another great video. I should've watched this one first! 😁 You have a great video presence and teaching style, and I think you come across as a natural on You Tube. I've watched a lot of poly clay videos and avidly follow a few You Tubers; I shall be adding your channel to my list of faves. More gorgeous beads and lots of techniques there; I'd love to know how you did them. Thanks again for all the useful tips!! 🤗😊

    Hi Katie. I'm somewhat new to resins, both UV and the standard 2 part epoxy. I tried the Limino brand UV resin but it left an oily residue, but then I tried the DecorRom and it works perfectly and cured to a nice smooth hard finish, so thank you for the recommendation. I love how your tutorials are down to earth. You "tell it like it is", and I really appreciate and respect you for that. Keep up the great work.

    Thank you so very much, Ms. Katie, for your wonderful tutorials demonstrating polymer clay craft techniques! I just love all your videos! I am reasonably new to polymer clay! I used to try to do beads in the 1990's but was less than thrilled back then because I did not have the advantage of having a computer with You-Tube and all the current tutorials! I never knew back then what people did to polish or buff the clay pieces, and I bought a clay fish pin that was very exquisite where one of the tail fins on the piece cracked off. I was so frustrated that I gave up, thinking that all polymer clay for any jewelry would easily crack or break! Hopefully, by using a better polymer clay than Sculpey II or III and cooking the pieces longer will help eliminate the chances of that happening now! I am hoping that, almost 25 years after that earlier experience, the quality of clay and the techniques used have evolved to be better over the meantime. I used to make some unpolished beads to use with some mixed media macramé arts and crafts on a small scale despairing that jewelry with polymer would never work for me. I am so thankful that you and others have taken their personal expense and time to so very patiently teach people like me, who am not a talented fine artist, to succeed in making gifts for others and for my own personal use! I would like to wish you a truly awesome Valentine's Day 2023 and hope you will be happy and well for Spring and Summer of 2023 !!! 🤩💓💜🐢🦀🌈🌟

    Thanks for the tutorial, it’s much needed. Sometimes the resin pours over the edge of my pendants and inevitably messes up the bottom of it. (I’m guessing I might be using too much resin at a time. What can I do to avoid this from happening? I’d also like to know what is the best mat to left the pendant on so, if it the resin runs it won’t go under the pendant. Thanks so much….

    I needed this vid so bad🙌 I just started making polymer clay jewelry and it’s a lot of fun. Do you have a video on polishing!? Because idk why but after sanding down the resin edges I can’t seem to get it to really shine again when polishing. Which which sucks because I’m also no where near good enough to make anything without needing to sand something off. Part of that I just learned from your vid is because of the mat I use when curing. It is totally flat and creates flat patched on the bottoms whatever I’m working on, so I just went to Amazon and found the type of mat you mentioned which is so much better

    • @katiegordon610

      YES!! You should ALWAYS wear gloves, have a respirator that is used for vapors/gas fumes, and be in a well-ventilated area. Most resin states it's non-toxic but it's a chemical reaction so it gives off fumes.

I use premo clay i bake it on a tile with heavy foil covering the clay i bake it at 275 for an hour. My pieces are always brittle with no bend or flexibility to them they break very easily. I’m not making the item super thin. Ive tried baking them a little longer or a little less time. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?? I’ve seen a tun of videos where they make very delicate clay pieces and the have a tun of flexibility. Mine would just break. Also the clay i was using was new?????? What is the brand of the resin that you used in this video? I’m partially deaf & could not make out the name when you said it. TIA

      I guess I meant, is heating it necessary before putting it under the uv light?

    That's a baking mat. It's called a pyramid mat...and it's upside down!
    The pyramids should be face up, so you can use it as a doming mat.
    It's much easier to pick off spilled resin, as well.

      The tips are great though - really helpful. Thank you! 😊

      I've tried it the other way and when it spills the other way I get lines where the resin sits when I just have my pendant sitting on the points and I do get a spill it does not travel along the lines into the holes so I get less covering the back. I think on my Amazon where I have this they named it as something else. But as always just my personal preference to use the mat in that direction after trying it both ways, people can def do it the proper way if they prefer

      In this video “How I I’ve resin” at 7:08 you show a pendant with shiny pink. I think I have watched all tutorials up to here and I did not see one for that shiny pink technique. I have not yet watched all subsequent ones. Anyway wondering how you did that one?

    Do you have a video on how you resin the sides of a pendant? Do you recommend resining the sides before the front?

    • @katiegordon610
      @katiegordon610  4 года назад

      I did it in one of my last pendant tutorials maybe the one with the ablone chips but I'm not sure if that is the one or not I usually do the top then the sides just being careful not to touch the top but do what u prefer
