I have said it before and I will say it again, that green is beautiful. When that engine started OMG. Those of you who like your EV cars, try and beat that sound and the passion it gives to us petrol heads.

    • @macman6107

"But my EV does 0-3000mph in 0.05 seconds". Yes but it has no heart. Sure the party trick is cool for a little while but there's more to cars than just going from A to B. More often than not it's the journey we live for, not the speed. This is what cars should be. Appliances are for the kitchen.

What I love is that this car, its engine, styling, suspension and interior are from the creators of dream machines and racing cars, and you have a team of craftsmen now focusing on that shared vision, eradicating the ‘made in the 70s by BL’ hangover that blighted so many Jags. I look at this car and I want one. I’ve always wanted one. I don’t care about cost and practicality I just want one. I’d love Jaguar to get back to that emotional appeal in its cars.

I had one of these when current. Moved it on at 85k mi. The airline captain purchaser thought he had enough $$ to keep it fresh. It was my club show car and dd.
Glad to see you and your marathon team yielding results. These are daunting projects.
    > > Jaguars fitted two screen keeper-retainers to the windscreen top edge. Evidently testing them at MIRA...this bodys' low pressure aero there at the screen created a vacuum, lifted it cleanly out!
Mine was USA-spec, but I observe nothing at that point on your build. As I recall 130mph was alarming. When testing mine on I-90 east of Seattle at 130mph the wipers levitated 4" inches. Achieved 139 indicated incidentally.

I've always desperately wanted one of these. A friend of mine had a bright yellow 4.2L XJC that we smoked around in back in the 1980's. The one thing that really holds me back is the amount of money it takes to get one up to standard and keep it there. As they were so cheap in the past there are a lot of nice looking cars hiding all sorts of very expensive issues. I had a 4.2L Daimler Sovereign LWB which was horribly unreliable. When it went, it was superb - sublime, comfortable, light on its feet and a joy to drive. Trouble was, despite an extensive maintenance budget, it was forever throwing up issues and I never really trusted it. This XJC is stunning though - what a superb colour and with a manual 5.3L V12!!! Can't wait to see and hear it in action. Well done for saving it Harry.

dark greens, especially on cars, especially, especially on Jags, being one of my favourite ever marques. But the paint on that XJ is something else! Fair play to you Harry, you couldn't have picked a nicer colour to suit your Jag if you tried. That car has always been amongst my favourite in your collection, as I've always wanted to sample a Jag V12,coupled to a manual gearbox. Now however, its going to be my favourite hands down, in fact I can't think of many other cars I'd rather own full stop. Absolutely stunning. I love the trick of bypassing the resistor to give the ignition system a full 12 volts for starting. My 1953 Jaguar Mark VII saloon had a button hidden on the dashboard to momentarily do the same thing. It really made a difference with cold starts. I don’t know if that was a factory spec installation. By running 9 volts most of the time the ignition points lasted much longer. Say a year vs 6 months..

Personally, I would now fit a modern programmable ECU for spark and fuel with coil on plug . Better starting, power and fuel economy.
Looking forward to you doing a long journey when it's done . Enjoy.

Arguably the most stunning Jag made alongside the EType. I'm on my 6th Jag and have loved them all, but I would love an old V12 coupe.

Bloody gorgeous. The colour is lovely. I was in a Lexus dealership the other day and they do stunning green metallics (metallic tarrane Khaki or Nori green Pearl) that is very similar. It’s the nicest dark green metallic I’ve seen.

My favorit from your collection! Often toyed with the idea of restomodding an XJ6 series 1. Imagine an Eagle XJ6 with the same drivetrain as their e-types 🙌

The colour (in my memory) is close to a great uncles Vauxhall viscount over 40 years ago.
Deep metallic green, changes dependent on sunlight and angle.
Cool car and great videos thank you.

The Jaguar looks beautiful, and it's not even finished yet. The new ignition is well worth the investment.

Once again , the colour is “Simply Stunning”. Quite surprised they didn’t set timing before start up , but certainly sounds wonderfully smooth , now sorted. Going to be fantastic this car, absolutely marvellous.

I had misgivings about the colour when you chose it but it looks good in the flesh. Great to hear the engine fire up at last!

Thanks for letting us see it get started, Harry! Gosh, I do miss my old V-12 XJS (albeit a U.S. automatic)!
