  • The restoration of my Jaguar XJC V12 manual took 10 months to complete and in this video I go through all the costs on this project and all my other cars in Harry's Garage. I also explain why I'm using ethanol free storage fuel in all my bikes and why I use CTEK chargers in the garage.

Yes, I was wondering, too... I red issue 292 of evo magazine only some days ago, where they wrote about the GR Yaris if it is the greatest hot hatch of 2021. (I disagree with evo!) And when I saw the video I thought: "It only has 3, hasn't it?". :-)

Actually costing B L so much they asked me to delivery back to the factory and gave me 100% back On the way to the factory it poured down and we got soaked the Sun roof wouldn't close.. One of the best state of the fleet updates I've seen this Christmas. I'd missed the Lotus Esprit departure! Athough you have got the Emira coming I guess! Not at all envious! On the fuel and storage front, wouldn't a storeage adative be more cost effective? And storing vehicles with nealy empty tanks rather than full ones?! Does the insurance cost cover the private collection only? ie do you have a seperate insurance account for all the farm vehicles and/or the daily cars? Happy New Year to you and yours, and keep up the good work in 2022!

this was always my favorite car from jag but being a coupe normally are less bought when new , i had some old models but never found a three doors one , like the coupe of the silver shadow its hard to find and being today prices over the roof , i had one that was the 60's model sedan but the bigger one there was a similar one but more litle , i had the luck of a young family using it by being the only car they had from the grandfather of one of them but it drinked a lot to be driven everyday to get the kid from school and work everyday in the morning , it was a fortune spent . I ofered them a perfect condition w123 from mercedes all electric and the 240D , being very economic and more even because the price of the diesel was very cheap , almost no one at the time wanted diesel cars , so it was a direct trade and being a 60's jaguar called them unreliable but this one with basic maintenance rolled perfect for more than 30 years , has i can not buy new cars and today its hard to find a model than one really like , i bought all my old cars when no one wanted them , porshes in the late 80's i bought several in late 80's they were not apreciated , at least the older models , that's how i gathered what i call a poor man's collection , i prefer the 911 turbo mkI to any ferrari to drive , the contauch was a bad car to drive , if i knew i would never drive one because i got the feeling that it was really bad to be driven , its almost unbeliveable it was made by the same brand that built the miura , but i can only watch this on videos the coupe from jaguar , never found one

The projects this year have been among my favorites. A four cylinder Lancia, a V8 Rolls and a V12 Jag all had one thing in common. The cursed demon known as RUST. And no, that is not an acronym for Reveal/Unreal Stealth Technology. It is just a long running battle against a natural process intent on destroying our enjoyment of automobiles. It was thoroughly enjoyable watching these craftsmen work to restore these fine cars. Loved every episode. Here's to a great 2022 and the rebirth of the Lancia!!

Wonderful wonderful work. Knowing the difficulties that any form of Xj6 can throw up when in throws of restoration - the chaps at Painting Classic cars deserve massive praise for what they have achieved with your Xjc. What else so exclusive and so beautiful could you have bought for the money you've spent - I can't think of anything. A great round up of the year - and looking forward to seeing more of the Countach next year! 👍👍

@@rossbright1123 Watch the last few series of The Motorbike Show, with Henry Cole. Allen is one of the guys Henry uses on his restoration- the 6 cylinder Z1A was some conversion.
I love dipping into these Harry’s Garage vids; some lovely motors. As an XFR owner, The Project 8 trip through Germany was scarily entertaining 👍

Love what you’ve done with the XJC, but I have to admit, I rather liked it before; £5k of V12, warts and all!

I personally think that even with the cost of the restoration, your XJC is still kind of a bargain…. It’s as near to a new one as you could get & it just looks fantastic. The colour really suits & the manual box, suspension & wheel choice are spot on.
I’m glad you did it & thank you for sharing all the cost etc.
Hope you have a great ‘22 & I look forward to the next video. Take care 👍

I used to end up behind Series 1 XJ's in traffic jams back in the day and they have always been one of my few 'golden bucket' cars. A lot of cars look good, even great, from the font, but the series 1's look just as great from the back in a way absolutely no other car does. It is the way that the large almost flat boot transitions into the subtle vestigial fins and the shape of the lights that does it for me. A lot of modern cars are shapeless blobs at the rear (although aerodynamically superior). £67k seems an absolute bargain to me (even if it is way out of my price bracket).

My grandpa retired and bought an ex demo XJ6 2.8 Manual and that is the car I have the earliest memories of and it made me a petrolhead. He drove it until he died 23 years later, I was 17 and my Dad sold it for £750 as breaker. If only I had that car now...

Harry, I would just like to thank you so much for the content as ever through 2021. I actually felt a little nervousness when you said you may not do as many videos in 2022 due to trips etc….. PLEASE, ‘we’ beg you, please keep them coming!!!! I really do appreciate both the factual and the personal stuff you manage into your videos, the 99 Ron fuel etc you featured is a huge plus, snippets like that really do make a big deal of difference to your fellow petrolheads. Thankyou again!!!

2:30 Good trick with the number plate Harry - I own an BMW E36 Coupe and it's common to affix them to the lower grille for the same reason.

The XJC looks fantastic, Harry-the color is lovely and glad you kept the wheels as is except for a refurb. The patina of the leather is perfect and agree with no vinyl roof-so much nicer without since you aren't hiding metal seams! I think its money well spent and can't wait to see drive reviews when weather/time allows. Happy Christmas.
