I never realized how much I needed this video before I watched it. Very well-researched content. Learned a lot. Although I am on the slim side, I tend to overeat a lot. And my face gets bloated though there's not much change in my body. The moment I stop overeating for a few days, my face gets slimmer.
I just realized I have all the bad habits you mentioned here. I will start following this from my very next meal. Thanks a lot. Hoping to lead a healthier eating habit!
These are great. I have 3 more important ones to add:
1. Use a slightly smaller plate than you normally would, but with the same amount of food on it. Studies show this helps going back for seconds or thirds and that you haven't missed out, when you feel your food hasn't filled the plate up to the edges.
2. Feel or express gratitude while eating (like a precursor to eating consciously) - just feeling grateful for every mouthful you're about to have (and just had at the end) creates a totally different experience and control over wanting MORE!
3. Be curious (vs absent) about the tastes, like you ate the food for the first time (also very much about conscious eating or mindful eating). Note the dimensions of smell, texture, flavour, etc. It adds enjoyment to meals. 😋
And actually, a fourth:
4. Fasting and intermittent fasting can build control over food cravings and helps regulate Leptin (satiation hormone) and Ghrelin (hunger hormone)

So appreciate this video, thank you! My overeating issue was because I had an eating disorder and food addiction. What ultimately freed me from my overeating was less about changing my diet and more about addressing what was driving me to food in the first place. Once I did my overeating issue went away. Still, I appreciate your valuable tips here!

@@sanisan5787 yes, we reach out for something to eat, when actually we are thirsty. And we still don't feel ok, so some more to eat, when all you need is a glass or 2 of plain water! I do this kind of munching all the time.
I have that same problem i end up getting full and i feel hungry again, then I say "hmm, that's very unusual?"
Then i end up eating everything on Thanksgiving and now i think i have a stomach ulcer lol.

Thank you sir! I have always been a skinny guy since birth and its been difficult to put on weight. I always followed what you said healthy eating should comprise and I've never felt happier from the inside ever before but still people around me keep calling me weak looking and malnourished though I am physically much healthier than them most of them consider over weight to be healthy and are over weight I am so glad that I am on the better side of the weight but I'll still not stop from trying to put on healthy weight

Thanks a lot for revoking these practices among us Vivek ! I recall how my grandpa used to eat a piece of jaggery after his meals and the method of eating curd. He was 96 years when he died and we have never heard him having any sickness. Even few minutes prior to his natural death, he walked few miles to the hospital with my little cousine brother who got injured in the school. They followed all these habits but our generations have gone far away by giving prominance to western eating habits by leaving our own.

I can relate. I recently developed an acid reflux due to overeating. On a diet with small meals now. So important to stop overeating.

It also helps to stop eatting after a certain time (I stop at 8pm) and eat a balanced and healthy meals at the same times. 2 meals a day, no snacks, and only healthy liquids (with no sugar) in between those meals!
Apple cider vinegar (teaspoon/diluted) helps to make stomach more acidic for proper digestion if ingested before a meal. Helps with insulin levels too 😃
