I was given a mix tape in 1984 by a friend and 2 songs from Cirith Ungol were on it and I have been a huge fan ever since :) got to see them live recently when the played the roxy and it was epic!! Love this interview!! subbed...
Cirith Ungol were the first band out on the L.A. metal scene, before Van Halen, the Runaways, and Quiet Riot, but didn't get to record their first album until after the others. Just a legendary band doing its own thing!
My favorite album ? Hard question. Forever Black was unexpected after a long hiatus and is a great album. Dark Parade is very good too. Obviously, King of the Dead is their masterpiece. Nothing to throw away on this album. Only classic songs. I would say One Foot in Hell. Great songs on this album and the final solo of Wart Eternal is for me maybe the most beautiful solo i’ve ever heard. Paradise Lost has been trashed by Restless Records and is unfinished for me but Join The Legion and the last three songs (Chaos Rising, Fallen Idols, Paradise Lost) are very amazing songs.
