    How does a stock F150 do in the snow? Watch and find out.
    Tires are the stock STX, Hankook Dynapro AT2.

    Great advice there at the end. I always run into people who have the gear on their rig cause it looks cool lol but doesn't know how to actually use it properly. I prefer to stick to my dirt and sand though... idk about getting stuck and having to dig yourself out big cold af.

    My 2020 F150 came with a set of these hankooks. If you look closer 2 differences at least from the AT2 you can buy off the shelf. The treadwear on the factory tires is 440 vs 660 on the off the shelf one. And the factory is not 3 peak rated. And the AT2 off the shelf is. Probably to meet noise, vibration and rolling resistance for the OEM setup. Just FYI. I will say even the off the shelf one while I think better than the OEM one is still a light duty all terrain at best. The BFGs or Falkens for instance would just completely out perform them in the conditions in your vid.

    @Simple Instinct glad to see you are having fun doing what you are doing. I like doing the same and do as after as I can. Where I live we don’t get much snow (well we do up in the mountains up the road) but have tons of rock, gravel, dirt, and mud. I agree with you on some of your points but also keep in mind that there are limits to stock trucks. Mainly the tires. Those are the biggest thing getting you stuck. I can see you have 4WD and said you are planning to get tires. You will see a massive difference in your traction and the ability of your truck then. Even the bone stock F150 is very capable as long as it can get traction. Lifts are nice but they also have drawbacks. They put other components such as CV axles into angles that they were not designed to be in and they then have shorter lifespans because of the excessive strain. They also change your center of gravity. But in no way at I saying not to do it. Even if I were it’s your truck and your choice. I’m just sharing a little incase it helps you or others. I’ve learned a ton from others along the way. As long as we all get on here and engage and not argue we can all learn a lot from each other. The truck looks great. I like the color. I currently have the Ruby Red 2018 FX4 with the 3.5L twin turbo V6. I’m going to help out and subscribe and see what you do. What’s your plans for tires? Decide yet? I’m running the Michelin defender LTX mud and snow rated tires but plan to switch out and try the BF Goodrich KO2 or the Falken wildpeak AT3. I haven’t decide between the two yet.

    • @simpleinstinct
      @simpleinstinct  3 года назад

      Thank you for subscribing. I will likely be getting the BFG KO2s. Not sure which lift yet.
      Also, a good lift will come with a drop bracket to keep the CV axles at the correct geometry. A leveling kit would would push the upper control arm and CV axles into extreme angles.

    • @davidlecroy432
      @davidlecroy432 3 года назад

      @@simpleinstinct depending on where I read or review the tires I’ve seen people raving about both tires and saying it’s all they will use. It think it will come down to price and look. Based on that I will likely be going with the KO2 tires as well. I like the side profile better and from what I’ve found I’m not sacrificing with either tire.

    I have the same tires on my STX. I was curious how they did in snow and it sounds like they don’t do great. Have you had it in mud?
    Did you use traction boards to get out of the snow when you got hung up?

    • @simpleinstinct
      @simpleinstinct  3 года назад

      These tires did okay on the first trip (the previous video) when it was just snow. This time they did a lot worse because of the ice under the new snow.
      If I were to go buy tires, these would not be in my top 5 choices.
      Yes I have used the traction boards multiple times for both myself and other people in the snow. They work great!
      I havent had these tires in mud.

      I'm from IL and this past winter was my first time with my F150. It came with these tires and they are horrible! I went into an empty parking lot and left it in 2WD, I couldn't get the truck moving with 3-4'' of snow on the pavement. Using Snow/Slippery mode helped a lot, by reducing the power. But I found myself constantly switching between 2WD and 4HI. They currently have 13k miles on them and are in great condition still, but I am going to buy new tires very soon and probably donate these.
