- In case you are having trouble width your Bluetooth headset microphone when using Zoom, WebEx or other meeting apps.
This video explains in step-by-step instructions how to fix the microphone of your Bluetooth headset or headphones on a Windows 10 computer or laptop.
The majority of the time the problem is that the Bluetooth headset is connected correctly to the computer, but the microphone of the headset is not selected as input device. This setting is not adjusted by default and has to be done manually in the sound settings menu.

Sadly my issue (with two different bluetooth headsets) is that Windows 10 adds the device as "audio" device, so there is no option for the microphone. I need a way to force Windows 10 to recognise that the bluetooth device has a microphone.

@@pedrobrailovsky5382 nope. I've tried three different BT headsets now, they all work fine on other laptops. I've reinstalled the BT drivers, no difference. I'm thinking I'm going to buy a USB bluetooth device and disable the internal one which is obviously junk. This is on a Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. Even the Surface Headphones don't work!
Try uninstalling the headphones on control panel and let windows get the driver again

Everyone, bluetooth headsets dont work properly at all on windows 10. either you use a high quality audio mode with no mic or a shitty quality mode with mic. they are no workarounds

Possible solution: Un-pair/disable your device and re-pair. If it shows you multiple devices with your device name, pick the one with the headset icon (speakers + microphone). My bluetooth headset (JBL Free 2 ) had 3 devices with the same name, presumably 1 for microphone, 1 for speakers and 1 for both. Only when I picked the one with the headset icon did my microphone get recognized!

Hello i have a AWEI B930BL wireless earphone and when i open apps that use my mic my sound completely turns off and if i want to hear others speak in a call i have to disable my mic by going in sound control panel settings any fixes please it would mean the world to me if you can fix it
Great when you select the headset, the audio stop working, or it changes audio to mono.
what do I do if my jbl 660 headphones arent showing up within the "choose your input device" drop box? so far the only thing in the input box is microphone array (Realtek(R) Audio). ive checked the manage sound devices and in input devices thers no option to enable any jbl 660 microphone.

Hi ! This video is great, however I see that the JBL appears among the Microphone options. How can you fix if in the output you can select JBL but in the input the JBL option is not there. How can you make the option appear ? so that you can select it.

Yes I'm having the same issue 😫I opened control panel > hardware & sound > sound which said that the laptop was aware that my Bluetooth earbuds had microphones but I couldn't do anything to activate it.

I had to disable my PC's Speakers, it told me that the headphones where connected, but sound came from my PC until I disabled them.

my galaxy buds is successfully connected to PC via Bluetooth USB dongle. even though audio output and input both set to galaxy buds I only hear output. weirdly enough as I am listening to your youtube video the input takes your youtube video speech as input instead of my voice.

For bluetooth ones, go to settings, Display, Input> Device Properties, Aditional device properties, on the Listen tab go to "play back trough this device" and select your headset, click apply.

If you're bluetooth headphones/earphones dont work try switching a browser because in my case I use the microsoft edge Which produces no sound but after switching to chrome suddenly the sound is playing in my headphone

I've literally done this but mic still not working, it only works on my phone.
I was using my Doquas Care, Sold on Amazon. When i connect it i had two options, Hands free which sounds like crap, and a stereo mode, which is crisp and amazing. I only use to to hear myself as i record for content. And as of now literally after finishing my commentary, i Turn on Halo For Broll and the volume goes out, and now only hands free works. What did i do? nothing is muted.

I honestly give up on windows and bluetooth headsets for voice input, it's been over 15 years literally since my first v1.2 bluetooth and my old dell computer tried in over 10 devices paired with over 10 different bluetooth headsets.
Audio works fine (except for the old days with the audio lag) and voice NEVER WORKED.. EVER.. ON ANY WINDOWS DEVICE.
Microsoft I think this is a common issue with you and well over 10 android tablets and smartphones never had an issue so I simply do not give a shit anymore as I'm sure you don't either.
Don't tell me I haven't tried everything from downloading drivers and all kinds of 3rd party softwares and patches.
I simply give up on you, I'd rather have a chromebook or linux anyway.

My problem is that when I connect a Bluetooth headphone and select the same headphone for both output and input voice, only the voice input works in the game, and the output doesn't. This means my laptop is unable to perform both tasks with the same headphone at the same time.

This didn't fix my problem. Whenever I try to test my mic it says that the sound level it found was 0 percent, so there must be something wrong with my built in mic. Which makes 0 sense because it works on other computers but not this new one for some reason. This is an insanely frustrating thing to have happen and no fix I find on RUclips or google has been helpful thus far.

You could try starting the Bluetooth audio gateway service:

That didn't solve my problem on zoom- when selecting Bluetooth headphones as a mic, it turns off the shared computer sound through the headphones. I have to choose the computer mic to hear shared computer sound (music, you tube, etc) and the people in my meeting.. Any help? I can't find anything online to solve this problem.
My god my man this is the EXACT SAME PROBLEM im facing on my Ibomb bluetooth headphones. If you choose headset mic on google meet or zoom the audio in itself turns off. You have to choose the buillt-in pc mic to hear sound from your headphones smh. This is such a pain in the arse when you have to talk but stay away from your laptop at the same time. Microsoft really needs to fix this issue asap.

Dealing with a similar issue. Shows my bluetooth as a headset with Realtec as the only other option for a microphone even thow my Cowens have a microphone built in. Microsoft needs to fix this probelm so it can detect all avalable microphone devices regardless to wether they are bluetooth or not & let us select what we want to use with ease.
I've never faced such problems with Apple OS, only when I was forced to switch back to Microsoft, the same low quality level has been maintained for the past 12+ years. Anyhow thanx for the video but it didn't work
