This is the most laughable comment, and I see it all the time. It's just lazy. Music hasn't changed. Lots of good music is being made these days. What's changed is what's played on the radio. It's no longer the place to hear the best of the best. Because only a few companies own all of the major record companies and only a few companies own all of the radio stations. Go and listen to a live version of "Midnight in Harlem" by the Tedeschi Trucks Band and tell me it's not just as good as anything produced in the 70s.
Everytime I see David playing one of the myriad instruments he made sing I'm grateful we have so many performances. David and Jackson "For a Dancer" among others. Thank you David..RIPeace.
Another thing about music and concerts from this time period is it is about the music. No big screen behind the performers. The music wasn't just part of some big event. It was a listening experience. The music and lyrics told a story and stirred your emotions. I miss that world. 😢
Just found this. And yeah, in the 70s audiences also trusted (for lack of a better word) that the long intros were part of the song and would always be worth the wait. Many singers played much longer intros live. Springsteen excelled at it.
The Load Out is the penultimate concert-closing song. And it's one of Browne's best lyrical songs. There's a ton of emotion in this song, it not only perfectly captures the experience of touring, but also hints at the experience of the audience... "When The morning sun comes beating down, you're going to wake up in your town. But we'll be scheduled to appear a thousand miles away from here" As a concert goer, I feel this line in my soul. When the arena lights come up, and the show is over, it's really bittersweet. Grateful for the joy of the music and the community with all the fans gathered, but also knowing it's a fleeting moment, and a good concert leaves you with a sense of longing.
LOL, took me years to figure out that falsetto was David Lindley, not Rosemary Butler! JB is a heckuva wordsmith, and he always had the zbsolute best collaberators! RIP, the wonderful David Lindley!
I came back to watch you enjoy this song 😊 Your joy brings those happy feelings from back in the days when this song played as we traveled down the Klamath river road, rocking out to the music on full blast. Thank you 💞
Jackson Browne is the most amazing artist and just as amazing live a gift better than so many artist that everyone knows. Everything that Jackson does is great.
This man is simply fantastic. I discovered him 25 years ago thanks to a friend and immediately fell in love with his music. I was very astonished to noticed there was not much noise made around the man until now.
Jackson Browne is the background music to my college years. He does not have any bad music. Still relevant. Still moving. Check him out singing with Rita Wilson on her "Duets" album.
Except that's not true. What's changed isn't the music. What's changed is who owns and controls what is considered "popular music." No longer will you find it on the radio. Or at the record store. Today, it's places like RUclips and Pandora. But I challenge you to listen to a live version of "Midnight in Harlem" by Tedeschi Trucks Band and tell me it's not as good as anything made in the 70s.
Your analysis of this song is wonderful. I haven't heard it in a while so it was nice to hear it again. Your comment how 70's songs take a while to develop is so true. I was lucky enough to be a teenager during that time frame and in High School. We all loved Jackson Browne.
Just noticed this video - to answer your question, the "Stay" starts out with Jackson singing and playing the piano. The female vocalist is Rosemary Butler. The guy playing the pedal steel guitar and singing the really high part is David Lindley. And just so you know, a pedal steel guitar is meant to be played horizontally, either placed on a lap or on a stand.
One of my favorite Jackson Browne songs is one that Don Henley (a pretty fair songwriter in his own right) called the greatest song ever written. “Late For The Sky”. 😎✌🏼
Jackson is a phenomenal song writer too. He collaborated with the Eagles on several songs, including Take it Easy. Some of his other hits are - Doctor My Eyes - Running on Empty - The Pretender - Somebody’s Baby - Tender is the Night He’s still doing concerts. I found this one from last week, same song. You should take a look at it. 45 years later, it’s fun. ruclips.net/video/d7XYZwPD1gk/видео.html
Jackson Brown has been making great music for more than 50 years now. I know because I’ve been listening to him that long! Amazing! Thanks so much for showcasing them today! If you forced me to pick my favorite song of his, I guess it’s Running On Empty.
It was this song, along with many others like it that captured my mind as a teenager growing up in the late 70's when it was popular. We really had the best music in those days. Music that you looked forward to, and you identified with. Good times.
Yes! This my all time favorite! I can’t even count how many times I played that album. Especially this song. The live version on the album is better in my opinion.
Starting in 1960 to 1970 with THE BEATLES (all the songs are great hits) And in the next years till the 90s we have bands like Kc And The Sunshine Band ,10cc, Earth Wind And Fire , Kool And The Gang , Toto , Electric Light Orchestra , Yes , Pink Floyd , Deep Purple , Genesis , Chicago , Abba , Bee Gees , Kiss , The Who , The Rolling Stones , AC DC , Scorpions , The Police , Inxs , Aha , Dire Straits , The Cars , Journey , Kansas , Eagles , Led Zeppelin, Europe , Alan Parsons , The Doobie Brothers , Creedence Clearwater Revival , Queen , Elton John , Paul Mc Cartney and Wings , Peter Frampton , Boston , Fleetwood Mac , Tom Jones , The Cars , Duran Duran , Foreigner , Hearth Wind And Fire, Rod Stewart , Spandau Ballet Michael Jackson , Prince , Emerson Lake and Palmer , Simply Red and Reo Speedwagon BUT the list is HUGE and mybe i left someone behind by mistake. 1971 STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN Led Zeppelin In 1972 SMOKE ON THE WATER DEEP PURPLE IN 1973 THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON PINK FLOYD IN 1974 DEEP PURPLE Burn and Pilot Magic IN 1975 Bohemian Rhapsody Queen and I'm Not in Love 10cc 1976 MUSIC JOHN MILES and Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry 1977 Player - Baby Come Back , The Load Out / Stay by Jackson Browne and Hotel California by Eagles 1978 to 1979 Last Train To London ELO 1979 Ride like the Wind Christopher Cross and the list goes on and on and on at least till 1990. Wayne Casey from KC and the sunshine band is a white man that have the soul and the music of black people living down deep inside on her BIG heart GOD BLESS YOU WAYNE CASEY. I was born in the golden era of music 1960 and today i am a happy young man on my 64 yrs old. And the only good band we have now is POETS OF THE FALL because they are still playing today.
ROSEMARY!!!! When that morning sun comes up, you’ll wake up in YOUR town. Maybe try The Pretender or Sky Blue & Black for some of his best storytelling. Glad you enjoyed his music. It’s the fabric of my teenage years. Simply the BEST!!
The live version they captured for the Running on Empty album was even a little bit more on point than this version. That whole album is definitely worth a listen. Saturated the airwaves the year it came out.
it was on my awesome mix tapes back in the 80s when I would do long road trips late at night. Flowers on the wall --- Statler Brothers, Turn the page -- Bob Seger followed up by The load out / stay --- Jackson Browne then Running on Empty --- Jackson Browne. for me told a complete story of sorts while driving on the long dark highway at 3 am. the lonelist 2 hours of the day between 2 am and 4 am on the road.
Hi new sub here I just found you gladly. Because of you Joni reaction . And what you said about lyrics I hope you take a deep dive in this artist his body of work is like noone elses very cerebral. I'd recommend before the deluge , the pretender, for everyman , birds of st Marks, late for the sky or sky blue and black
Great video and great reaction Anton. Jackson Browne is the real deal, a very talented singer/songwriter/musician. He had many radio hits in the 70's and frequently played with The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt. The band playing in the video were all top L.A. studio musicians, among the best in the world. Great stuff!
Oh wow dive into some more Jackson Browne!! Many hits and I absolutely love so many of his lyrics. Real life stuff!! Thx for bringing him into the fold!!! 😉 Gigantic hit!,as were more of his songs were too. This I feel is his life for many years. Fun but rough life traveling! 70’s more laid back
Timeless. Yes. For more timeless, listen to The Birds of St. Marks on the Solo Acoustic CD, Vol. I, I believe. That was Rosemary Butler, wailing away there, great voice. Welcome to David Lindley on lap steel guitar and an awesome falsetto. Do check out David, he's done lots of music on his own with other folks as well. Great reaction!
I do like to watch people watch and listen to the GOOD MUSIC 🎶 But I grew up listening to 70's music and it was just a different vibe back then. Today's music they'll sing a few words and then the chorus over and over and over again. Its sad cuz it makes me feel old but I'm still happy I got to experience the old days when life had no computers, no technology... just being outdoors anywhere with your friends and good music!
Fantastic reaction! He’s such a great songwriter and performer. His voice just pulls you in and takes you over. Nice one!!! You should check out The Band performing The Weight with The Staples Singers. Great collaboration and you would really dig it. ✌🏻❤️ Oh, and the drummer sings. It’s great!
Good on ya. Jackson Browne has a nice catalogue of seriously good songs for you to check out. I'd recommend one of three songs for your next JB listen. The three are, Runnin' On Empty, The Pretender, and Rock Me on the Water. There are plenty more, but I find those three as special as this one is.
You should definitely check out his song For A Dancer, that's about as beautiful as 70s rock music gets. Lyrically, vocally and musically it's just exquisite.
Great choice, Robbie! Jackson Browne added the first half as dedication to the load out crew on the road. I like a lot of his songs, but this is one of the top songs, and Doctor My Eyes is probably my favorite (or close).
RIP, David Lindley!
People played & sang music back then. Where did that go?!
My brother has been a tour driver for 17 years... this song makes me think about him out on the road night after night.
I like the 70s comment... BOSTON!
Real talent. Real musicians. Real vocals, Not the synthetic crap of today. Oh, and yes, Jackson Browne was HUGE back in the 1970's
This is the most laughable comment, and I see it all the time. It's just lazy.

Love seeing new people getting turned on Jackson Browne. And other great musicians.
Another thing about music and concerts from this time period is it is about the music. No big screen behind the performers. The music wasn't just part of some big event. It was a listening experience. The music and lyrics told a story and stirred your emotions. I miss that world. 😢
Check out “No More Tears”.
One of his best!!!Keep listening to Jackson
They should pick thiis style back up. I'm afraid they can't play as well? Great stuff!!!😘
Just found this. And yeah, in the 70s audiences also trusted (for lack of a better word) that the long intros were part of the song and would always be worth the wait. Many singers played much longer intros live. Springsteen excelled at it.
Finally!!!!!
I love your reaction 😅😅
I'm just listeningto this over and over. I can't stop.
same!
Im astonished you haven’t heard this song before. Im much younger than you and i have heard this thousands of times.
This really is the ultimate respect song
I do not get you have never heard of Jackson Browne. Where have you been in your life?! My God!
He's just a pup. Not his fault
Wow…Jackson Browne is a phenomenal musician/composer/pianist. His songs are amazing. Catalogue is extensive!! 😊
The Load Out is the penultimate concert-closing song. And it's one of Browne's best lyrical songs. My mid teens thankyou ❤
LOL, took me years to figure out that falsetto was David Lindley, not Rosemary Butler! JB is a heckuva wordsmith, and he always had the zbsolute best collaberators! RIP, the wonderful David Lindley!
that is the transition to Stay
The 70s were all about the music.
We didn't have the internet
The music was so good back then. The good part is we still have it on record.
One of the most moving songs about the life of musicians.
One of my favorite songs, when it came on we'd all jump up and yell RECESS, and then just get silly and dance around the house. Good times...
I came back to watch you enjoy this song 😊 Your joy brings those happy feelings from back in the days when this song played as we traveled down the Klamath river road, rocking out to the music on full blast. Thank you 💞
League, I was blonde, B4, I was grey, and this “smart phone “ dent help, imagine that 😎😂😂
You played along with him! I love it! My husband and I are going to see Jackson later this year.
Where please?
Jackson Browne is the most amazing artist and just as amazing live a gift better than so many artist that everyone knows. Everything that Jackson does is great.
Love Jackson Browne, saw him live and this performance was the showcase of the show. Song came the year I got married.
I love Jackson. It's fun to see your reaction to hearing him for the first time.
it's an homage to both his road crew and the audience.
Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" is a masterpiece.
One of the very best.....
***JUST ANOTHRE EXAMPLE OF WHY WE SAY*** They dont make them like they used to.
Except that's not true.

Oh the way we live to the music and get lost in it, move to it, love inside of it....... Oh thank you God.......
Yess....the band roundabout
"Stay", orig by Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs sometime in the 1950s when I was a small child.
Life on the road... This is a perfect encore song
He is not just supremely talented, he is versatile and intelligent...Thanks for the music Jackson!
So glad you enjoyed so glad love you
i saw Jackson and Led Zep same year and JB was more anticipated
Would love to see your reaction to "Tender is the Night"
Your analysis of this song is wonderful. I haven't heard it in a while so it was nice to hear it again. Your comment how 70's songs take a while to develop is so true. I was lucky enough to be a teenager during that time frame and in High School. We all loved Jackson Browne.
Hold Out, the whole album is great music that got passed over in the 80's. Soundtrack of my life and on Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
My ❤️💜

Classic Jackson Browne.

The steel guitar is a lost art form.
I love Jackson Brown. Bit of a poet, great musician, song writer, singer. Folk rock, or just plain quality rock.
Pay attention folks, this is how you throw down and mean it. What a performance.
One of my favorite Jackson Browne songs is one that Don Henley (a pretty fair songwriter in his own right) called the greatest song ever written. “Late For The Sky”. 😎✌🏼
Saw him in concert early 80's. Wow!
He was like 17 at the time
Man, you MUST listen to Doctor My Eyes and Running On Empty by Jackson Browne if you already haven’t. Classics!
Listen to "Dr. My Eyes" written at 16. The lyrics, my god!
If you don't know who Linda Ronstadt is ... ?!
That's a rabbit-hole you MUST go down !
Jackson is a phenomenal song writer too. He collaborated with the Eagles on several songs, including Take it Easy.
Some of his other hits are - Doctor My Eyes - Running on Empty - The Pretender - Somebody’s Baby - Tender is the Night

David Lindley plays lap steel and does the last chorus. He's a live and studio player that was everywhere in the 70's .
David Lindley R.I.P. went to many many Jackson Browne concerts in the 70s & 80s and David Lindley and El Rayo X concerts in the 80s
"Mercury Blues"!! David knows how to give us a banger!
it was on my awesome mix tapes back in the 80s when I would do long road trips late at night. So beloved! I never pass the opportunity to watch this reacted to!
Outside of Country…modern artist would not survive one week on the road.

50's and early 60's music was short and sweet to get radio play, then late 60's/70s they started recording longer songs for themselves and their fans.
“Stay” was a take off of the Four Season’s hit Stay.
I do like to watch people watch and listen to the GOOD MUSIC 🎶 But I grew up listening to 70's music and it was just a different vibe back then. Oh, and the drummer sings. It’s great!
Might be because people in the 70's didn't have ADHD so this wasn't slow to us. But then we can't follow sponge bob or pokemon that likely caused it.
Good on ya. Jackson Browne has a nice catalogue of seriously good songs for you to check out. I'd recommend one of three songs for your next JB listen. The three are, Runnin' On Empty, The Pretender, and Rock Me on the Water. There are plenty more, but I find those three as special as this one is.
Bonnie Faith Road Tested I must have bought six copies if this double CD live concert. Jackson sings with her. The whole CD is great.
You should definitely check out his song For A Dancer, that's about as beautiful as 70s rock music gets. Lyrically, vocally and musically it's just exquisite.
Reaĺy good movie is August Rush, a kid prodigy plays guitar like.
Cocaine is such a great song by JB and brings back a lot of memories!
Lol, yeah... That's a good one.
Great choice, Robbie!
Jackson Browne added the first half as dedication to the load out crew on the road. I like a lot of his songs, but this is one of the top songs, and Doctor My Eyes is probably my favorite (or close).
" I know nothing about Jackson Browne " seriously ?
Great reaction Brother! Do "The Pretender" next PLEASE! Spread the love😎🇺🇸
