    I think GenZ is in an identity crisis from drinking from the firehose of social media.

      As a cusper (between a young millennial and a gen zer) I agree.

      The majority of gen z are teenagers, of course they’re struggling w/ style, they’re still just kids experimenting! Does no one remember when they just copied anything they saw in magazines or on their fave celebrity? Let kids just find themselves

      I would be happy of my 17 yr old son would just wear clothes that are clean. 😂. He seems to have no aversion to just “smelling it” and then wearing it. It usually doesn’t match either. He has not a care in the world about his outfit choices. The other day he was out front wearing my penguin pajama bottoms. Outside. He is 6’1” and I am not, so needless to say, they were more like capri pants which he paired with a dirty stained tshirt, white socks and black slip on shoes. He was talking to a neighbor whilst wearing this. 😂😂😂

    You worry for a reason! This type of videos are toxic.
    Everyone has their taste and what suits them.
    And it’s not that every country has such thrift stores like rich USA, where you can buy there new clothes with tags from recent collections!
    Therefore fashion, and leaving clothes behind for reasons like “someone labled it unstylish and not fitting 100th tiktok core” in this economy and ecology state is horrendous!!
    It’s ok to leave something behind if it stopped fitting you or you really need to change your style as in punk going corporate. Otherwise i am more and more appalled to this kind of videos and overall concept of “unstylish”.

      Of course you are entitled to your opinion, and I agree that tiktok trends put a lot of undue pressure on young people and fast fashion and the way people just dispose of items is horrendous, but I would hardly call anything that Laura puts out there even close to "toxic". She is one of the least toxic or shaming people on the internet! She is just sharing what works for her own style and preferences (never saying that's what anyone else should adopt), while also informing about various trends, in an endearing and informative way. In other words, I think you have a valid concern, but it's aimed at the wrong content creator!

      Wow….you are way too pressed about this, it’s just fashion and it’s a fun video. It’s not that serious. People need to lighten up. Good grief. 😂

    Yes to “no more core!!!”

  • @maya-gur695
    @maya-gur695 7 месяцев назад +6

    I agree with you on the "core" thing' although I did find a "core" that I was very interested to learn about and didn't feel like a thing that has been done before with a new name: gorpcore. I am enjoying this style this winter. Even if it gets out of style, I will keep wearing it. It's an example of how the "core" thing helped me discover a whole new style of dressing that I've incorporated into my wardrobe.
    Also, I used to LOVE peplum tops in high school (yes, I am a cusper who went to high school in the early 2010s). I thought they were so feminine and cute. There is still a part of me that loves them and it hurts my heart a little bit to see a peplum top at the thrift store and not get it because a bigger part of me thinks "Ew, it's something I would have worn 10 years ago, so outdated".

      I love gorpcore! Totally agree with you that it will never go out of style. Both normcore and gorpcore are so practical and essential so I could never see them truly feeling dated. And ughhh the peplums! Breaks my heart 😂 I have a soft spot for them also but I just can’t get past the ill fitting feel I get 😭❤️

    I can’t wear wide jeans (I’m short, and pear-shaped) so I stick to my comfortable skinny jeans that I love, and wear them with good quality leather boots or platform trainers (sneakers), along with a structure top or jacket, to balance my shape a bit. If it’s comfortable and looks good, I say, ‘wear it’!
    I love thrift stores - I have some amazing, well-made pieces that are all at least 70% wool/cotton/silk. So much better!

    • @lauravonv
      @lauravonv  7 месяцев назад

      “If it’s comfortable and looks good wear it” is the best way to look at fashion 🙌 I also love any type of denim as long as it’s good quality denim. I’m still always one the fence with how quickly my skinny jeans would fall apart 😭 or get stretched out. If you have any brands that you love the most for quality I’m always interested in what works ❤️

    I have to to say I don’t mind the cores because when I’m second hand shopping online and I know what I’m looking for falls into a certain core it makes the searching so much easier.
    I also though I’ve never been one to completely deep dive into any trend or core. I thought that was where fashion was going you just kind of did what I liked and that’s what I like about your channel is you’ve never fully deep dived into one aesthetic. Also, I’ve never been into peplum tops but I think that mauve embroidered one is so pretty and I would wear it with baggy Capri/khaki pants green, tan or navy with sandals spring/summer😍 Thanks for another great video.

    • @lauravonv
      @lauravonv  7 месяцев назад +1

      I agree so much with how easy the cores make it to search things! I definitely love using them as a tag for obscure items. That’s a really good point. I might need to give that peplum top another try with those style suggestions 🤗❤️

  • @juliehanson1175

    Peplum goes back a ways obviously and still manages to circle around again (always for a short period of time). I never liked it except maybe in a holiday wear/velvet reincarnation. "Booties" are something I'm confused about. If you mean the "shoeties" version, then yes absolutely out. But if you're talking about a classic suede or leather ankle boot (or longer shaft now) as done by Thursday Boot Company or say Donald Pliner, then no, they will be with us for a very long time. The sneaker trend is hard to fight these days, but I think the Adidas Sambas have had their day simply because they are EVERYwhere. I bought a brown suede New Balance 425 (men's) shoe for spring for something different.

    I love Kiziks sneakers, and I finally did break down a buy a pair of Sambas, but the stripes are purple, so they're not the same old-same old. Both brands have been so comfy! I might also be ditching my peplum tops. Honestly, I didn't wear the ones I have much because I feel like they don't do enough for my waist to justify the extra visual hip volume! LOL!

    I really don’t like the wider leg jeans. I like skinny jeans and booties and since fashion is in eye of beholder so I’ll keep wearing them 😊

  • @rorycalabrese9092

    Mostly tongue in cheek here but I feel just saying "bootie" is what is propelling the "short boot" out of style. It can take the current style jargons- cozy, chunky and pieces right along with it, please!!!

    Couldnt agree more! The trend cycle is giving me whiplash! Also, im just not a sneaker gal and never will be. Its all about clogs, cowboy boots and doc martens in my closet for the last 6 years and ongoing 😂❤❤i am v sick of sheer things too!

  • @SallyLanger-rd6ew

    Loved this video, the core genre never appealed to me, seemed like a way to get people to feel they had to jump on it $$$ and especially younger girls who feel fashion peer pressure. For the sheer dress I thrifted, I found.a vintage longer black slip that works. The only peplum type top I kept is a faux black leather that I wear over a plain white or graphic tee. Oxoxox

    I agree about it all, BUT the Sambas. As i see it they were never out of style no matter what. I have a pair of grey Gazzelle's for 10 years now that serves so well, and i was on the fence abot buying the Sambas for 2 years and finally bite the bullet on them understanding that they will serve me just as good and i don't care for over popularity of them as long as it really meets my own style and the parctical point of view - just as the NB for you.

      Such a good point! I love the sambas and I love seeing the colorful ones used as a pop of color or how easy the neutral ones can integrate into a wardrobe. They are an absolute classic ❤️
