Batman First Season Goofs

- In this video, I take a look at behind the scenes visual, plot, prop, and stuntman goofs from the 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
Episodes we will be looking at from the 1960's Batman TV series are Hi Diddle Riddle, Smack in the Middle, Not Yet He Ain't, Instant Freeze, The Joker Goes to School, The Pharoah's in a Rut, The Ring of Wax, Give Em the Axe, and The Bookworm Turns.
Goofs and various behind the scenes mistakes we will be looking at include the Batmobile, stuffed props, obvious stuntmen sightings, explosion goofs, and even sponges used as Batman's utility belt compartments.
Also, I look at a shared explosion between Batman and the television series of the sixties, Get Smart, and did the Batmobile really ever leave the Batcave. I also look at mustaches like the one the Joker actor Cesar Romero wore that was painted over with makeup and one that gave away a Batman stuntman. Also, how re-using stock footage sometimes caused goofs in the storyline of the show, and how actor Frank Gorshen Riddler traps turned into goofs a couple of times.

You missed the two in DEATH IN SLOW MOTION. When Bruce and Dick run for the Batpoles, they collide, stop and Bruce says, "Excuse me."
Later at Mother Gotham's Bakery, Batman reaches for a broken pie crust and picks up a piece of paper instead. Adam West later contributed this mistake to the fact that his cowl interfered with his peripheral vision.
Even as a kid watching Batman I thought the stories and characters were ridiculous but to me, the star of the show was the batmobile that was really all I cared about.
I feel that!
I agree.,. I thought the show was silly, even as a kid..But that car and his weapons, had me watching.
All I cared about was Catwoman and Batgirl. I was a kid.
@@mordechai- Which Catwoman? My favorite was Julie Newmar (she had legs all the way up to.......uh....never mind! Batchgirl was nice too!
I hope you all enjoy my new Batman goofs video. Let me know what you think. I'll be working on another Adventures of Superman goofs and then back to another Batman video after that. Thanks for watching!
The Catwoman episode with the tiger always was funny to me.Batman puts the earplugs on the outside of his cowl instead of actually putting them in his ear canals.
In the episode with Batman and the tiger, as Batman is hanging on the wall, the tiger swipes at him with his claws. Look at the bottom of the screen and you can see the crewperson's hand holding the fake tiger leg.
When these episodes aired on their original air date in the 1960's, most televisions had small screens (like 16") and high def wasn't a thing yet. So, with today's TV quality, I always notice background shadows and "goofs" when watching old shows like old game shows (love Match Game, 1975) and how often they went to commercial breaks. We can still watch Batman on MeTV every Saturday night and love the camp. The villains made the show!!!
Either way when Batman gets the Tiger instead of Catwoman, I'm shocked that there wasn't a single can of Tiger Repellent Bat Spray anywhere in the ol Utility Belt!!
I never caught the goofs as a kid being carried away in the drama! Thank you for calling these what they are...goofs and not bloopers which are actors messing up dialog that does not end up in the final product.
I appreciate it. Thanks
I love your witt TVcrazyman. More please. 😊
@@brianmuhlingBUM Thanks I appreciate it.
Batman Stuntman With The White Mustache Looks Like A Healthy Alfred Pennyworth.
His cape slides down slightly while being carried?! Some hard hitting journalism right there...
Fun Vid! a good reminder of No VCR, DVD, Streaming. Just get to the T.V. Same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.
Thanks
Glad you refrained from mentioning your comics in this one - Liberty Ace.
Also in the Mr. Freeze "Ice in July" episode, Alfred is tending a fire the the Wayne Manor fireplace when the Batphone beeps.
I never noticed that because I live in Australia, and we have winter in June to August.
Batmans second sidekick was SpongeBob SquarePants. Je would ride around on Barmans belt.
7 year old me loved this show
I love your videos! Thank you!
Glad you like them!
I love how Batsy's gadgets have conspicuous labels written on them like the one on his belt at 2:27 and 2:34. This aside from his machines in the Batcave.😄😁😅🤣
Yeah, it is funny. Why would Batman label everything.
Batman would say after me your the next world's greatest detective. In seeing the goofs 🤪
It's on Saturdays on METV and I saw it on tubitv a while back and watched it as a boy back in the 1970s on WPIX Channel 11 in New York City.
Thanks. Batman was one of those shows I watched after school on re-runs every afternoon when it was on back in the 70's. They would rotate shows a lot in the afternoon slots.
Really like your videos, and your voice is perfect for these.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Brilliant. These goofs vids are so addictive 👌👍❤️🏴🏴🏴🏴
Thanks
Back in the day, the resolution of TV transmissions wasn’t as high, nor were television picture tubes as large, as today; so we didn’t notice things like painted-over moustaches, or cables pulling or holding objects.
Always enjoy anything to do with my childhood shows even if they are bloopers. Enjoy the that much more.
By the way in the monkees did you ever notice that the only one who really played their actual instrument was Michael Nesmith or Davy jones with the tambourine. A lot of scenes show Peter playing the keyboard but his hands are off the keys when you hear the keyboard playing.
I'll have to watch for that the next time I watch the Monkees. I've pretty much got all the classic 60's shows on DVD that I rotate around in my watch schedule. It's about time for the Monkees again.
additionally in the episode "when the rats away..." as batman unstraps robin from the wheel after he escapes, he accidentally pulls at robin's trunks instead of a strap. the waistband is pulled away from robin's body and snaps back when batman realizes the mistake and lets go of it.
You have to remember this was before the days of VHS tapes & dvd's. Really didn't see the Goof's because the shows just ran once on tv .The days of only 3 networks.
Cold cuts on Batman night.
These are brilliant
I've never seen this old series, but it certainly seems more likeable and entertaining than the current movie Batfilms they churn out
It was. It was intentionally comic bookish and campy. If you took it that way it was a hoot.
Just ran across your channel and subscribed! Lots of cool stuff!
Thanks.😀
I have watched almost everyone of his movies and I never noticed any of them
I’ve noticed lot of obviously fake robins during most of the fight scenes; the hairline is much higher on the fake one, very similar if not the same stuntman as used in the car at 5:59
Batman and the wild wild West are 2 synonymous TV shows
I own this classic series on dvd the complete series always fun watching these goofs
Thanks. Me too. I'm basically collecting all the classic TV superhero shows on DVD.
Your welcome awesome man I love owning these classic tv superhero shows on dvd as well
One goof that shows up in every episode that no one has ever mentioned is that when Bruce and Dick slide down the Batpoles, Dick is on the left and Bruce is on the right. However, when they reach the Batcave, Batman is on the left, and Robin is on the right, so they can run to their respective sides of the Batmobile. So, in addition to changing costumes, they also change sides.
I have noticed that, but would that not be caused by the bat cave being in front of them rather than in back when the reach the bottom? So the camera is pointing in the opposite direction.
Not a blooper but did you know that for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne, it came down to either Adam West or Kyle Waggoner.
West won the role, but Waggoner got a role in another superhero TV show, as Steve Trevor in "Wonder Woman".
I always find that fascinating. I wonder what Batman would have been like with him as Batman.
I find your videos very entertaining!! Subed.
Thank you very much
At 544 wasn’t that super man standing there?
Got to love the Goofs great video again bud 😀
Thanks Pratman!
Congratulations on reaching 10k subs bud 😀
@@Pratman Thanks. 😀
I recall an episode where Robin came through a door and ended up putting his face in a cake, and it nearly took off his mask, not sure what season it was in that should make it too the goofs
Especially since in the next scene, his mask is cleaned up and put back in place!
Great stuff fellow southerner! When you get to season 3 there are a couple of prop goofs you may want to be on the lookout for. 1) Batgirl's watch which only appears in Ep 1 and then appears and quickly disappears in one other recycled scene couple of times in later episodes. 2) A egghead prop that prominently appears in an egghead episode BEFORE it was stolen by him in the prior episode (due to Ep 2 being aired after Ep 1 and 3). Cheers!
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for them.
Loved batman
Holy sheep shiz Batman, Robin laid an egg!
Good stuff
thanks
The Bat Rope is so thin that nobody would be able to grip it. An ongoing blooper that I noticed when I was 10 years old.
It's very hard to catch these goofs in real time and if you don't know what to look for. It's only watching shows like this that when you slow it down and see where the goof is you get it.
The one about this show that drives me batty is that the villain ties Batman and Robin up to some contraption that will lead to their doom. Then, after the villain turns on the death-defying contraption, they leave Batman and Robin to face certain death! Why don't they stay to watch the heroes suffer?! Did they assume that the duo couldn't escape or something?
i thought the "punches" were just as bad if not worse in Star Trek: TOS.
Flash filmini bekliyorum dostum. İki batman göreceğiz 🤜🤛🙌
Yeah, that should be interesting to see.
Did you notice that in almost every episode the Robinson Force Field Projector from Lost in Space is propped on the Batcave wall just right of the Bat Poles!!!!!!!!
I'll have to look for that. That's cool.
@@tvcrazyman Contact me when you find it...O.K.!!!!!!!
Holy Goofs
Wao me gusta mucho la capa de Robin me fascina la capa
MInor nitpick, I always wondered why did they pick a skinny kid like burt ward you think they would pick someone with some muscle he looks like he couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag.
I think he had that acrobatic skill thing going though.
The show was too much fun for a child to notice the goofs.
Wow, how in the world did you find the same footage between Batman and Get Smart?
Your shows about batman and superman are awesome I love them. It just amazes me that when I was a kid. I was so into it that I didn't notice any of the goofs, well maybe one or two, but that was about it. Do you think you could do the same treatment for captain nice and Mr. Terrific?. And Maybe the green hornet.
You should do a goof video on the greatest American hero
Yeah, that was another favorite of mine. I loved that show.
@@tvcrazyman me too It was one of my favorites alongside of dukes and the incredible hulk I have such fond memories of it thank you for responding
that whole series was a goof.
From what I heard running back then running was considered a stunt.
Check out Batman ‘the movie’. During the end fight on the submerged Penguin submarine, you can clearly see the zipper to the Bat-suit when the cape drapes over Adam West’s shoulder.
Also when the duo are tied to the subway rails, the rails are made of two by fours
And the "cement" is plastic wrap.
You are really good looking that you are show us how they made mistakes
Thanks it's fun looking for stuff on the old classic Tv shows.
Got one for you. Early in the very first episode when The Dynamic Duo are in the commissioner's office Batman's shoulder hits Robin in the jaw. Burt Ward looks slightly shocked by it but Adam West continues with the scene. I always wondered if it was "accidentally" on purpose.
interesting. Hopefully, he didn't mean to.😀
Ah well, least the kids enjoyed the series I suppose.
I think it's enjoyable, you just have to look at it like a comedy adventure and not take it too seriously. Pointing out goofs is fun though. It's like examining history looking for missed details.
The computer used in the batcave is the same used in Lost in Space. Just a curiosity.
its a Burroughs B205,
* Goof on EVERY episode ~> Villains captured Batman &/or Robin tying them up or knocking them unconcious BUT never thought "Hey! Let remove the mask and see who this guy really is!"
True that's what I always thought.
@@brianchaplin9085BEC.And they put them in a trap to kill them, but never stay around to watch them die.
The original series was always tongue in tooth and never really to have been taken seriously, I think they really were not goofs but bad continuity as it wasn't taken seriously and made with low tech and a small budget.
I don't think they used 2 sticks of dynamite, my brother used a half a stick to blow out a stump one time and shattered windows hundreds of feet away and almost caused us to be deaf. We were about a thousand feet away and dirt clods rained down all around us
Did I say 2 sticks? Sorry, if I did. I think Burt Ward said 2 half sticks of dynamite in the interview I listened to.
Why can't we have some wholesome entertainment instead of the on the edge porn.
Thanks for posting this. Even more reasons now why I didn't like that show.
Technically, the Bat mobile was waiting for the elevator.
There are several sequences when they show the Batmobile in a long shot, driving perfectly down the center of the road, following the yellow line. It kind of looks like a slot car racer on the track.
Gotham city was never really define very well in this series lack of real outdoor live images
Burt Ward is an unreliable narrator. He said during the filming of the Batmobile exiting the cave that Adam West was having coffee on set in Bronson Canyon. West stated in interviews that he (West), was not there the day the Batmobile scene was filmed.
I think there are subjective memories with both. Adam once made a comment that The Riddler had a green umbrella. It must have been that unaired episode where he teamed up with The Penguin. HA!
My fiance asked if you could do classic Charlie's Angels sometime.
I may at some point. I got to get the series on DVD. That was one of my favorite shows growing up.
Awesome thank you so much, I'll tell her she adores Cheryl Ladd and was born 10 years after Cheryl's first season in 1977.
Wow! Cool story bro.
3:49 hahahahahahahha. At least we DO HAVE cgi. It can fix little things. Still a great show. Not soooooo serious.
At 8 minutes did Robin just Punch-Out Batman?
It was a fake Batman who was really a bad guy.
Plus Robin punched out Batman in that episode where Catwoman brainwashed Robin and turned him bad.
The show itself was produced by a man who HATED comic books, and did his best to make it as campy and terrible as he could, so it's no wonder the goofs happened on a regular basis.
Funny how I heard that Zack Snyder hates comic book Superheroes as well.
That must explain his jokes of movies.
Two guys ejected from a car art 30 mph? They'd have been pretty dead stuntmen. Are you high?
Let's count some of the ways of possible death, assuming they used an air cannon for ejection.
1. Death by malfunction.
2. Death by hitting the skull on the car on the way up. It's also the forces on the car, which cannot be precalculated, combined with the way the body leaves the vehicle.
3. Death by inversion in the air and landing on the head.
4. Assuming a safe touchdown, the unpredictable way the body would decelerate from 30 to 0 mph. Oh did you forget they were moving laterally, while falling?
5. Death from internal injuries from said impact or lateral deceleration.
Use real humans? You're insane.
Well, I did say they had to pretty tough to do it. 😀
@@tvcrazyman tough and suicidally stupid are 2 very different things.
But then isn't it silly having the henchmen still be alive afterwards.
Shouldn't they have died then?
Batman was good enough without boy doofus the frigin nerd
You think kids watching Batman are going to EVER notice these mistakes. This show was so campy.
These are soooooo lame. It hurts.. it really hurts..
It was a sorry TV show. . The Green Hornet was much better..
WHO CARES??????
I have a still of robin punching Batman. 8:31
BAtman and Robin, Shazam, Isis, Dr. Strange, Superman. I thought all of these shows were terrible and didn't make any since.. But. i did like Batman And Robin, The Hulk and Wonderwoman the best out of all these shows..
