I knew not the story of David Copperfield until I had the pleasure to learn about his life through this beautiful movie. Here's to 🥂Charles Dickens a stupendous writer. Thank you for giving us beautiful stories 🙏🏻.
i obviously always knew who Charles Dickens were, and I am sure we all know "please sir can i have some more" but I did not have intimate knowledge about his books -did a bit of a binge watch this week end and i am now an ardent Chales Dickens fan!! Thank you for the upload
I sincerely hope you will take my advice, and read the book. It is even better than you can imagine. I have read it about 12 times, thus far. I recommend it, highly.
I ugly cried, rewatching this. Stories like these, interpreted this way, makes you see love as something pristine & magical & so beautiful, so priceless. The brazen "intimacy" scenes in modern movies, cheapen the whole concept and leave nothing to the imagination. This shows you can catch all the feels without the need for a bed scene. Such a heartwarming story of a man who conquered the darkness of a painful past & found everything that was stolen from him & more ❤🥹
His childhood almost looks similar to mine it kind of broke me I think i should let my past stop holding me This movie taught me to move forward I was too lazy to read the book and i now know what i missed out
What a terrible mother. She allows him to be beaten by his new stepfather then tells him “try to be better”??? What a spineless woman. She made the worst decision of her life by allowing the attentions of the wrong man. She was financially stable….she married a cold man who did not love her nor her child, when there was no need for her to. She turned a house of light into a house of darkness and terror.
What are you talking about? Edward Murdstone is a man of great honour and dignity who disciplined David Copperfield for his idleness and inattention! David's Mother is horrible because she allows her son to be spoiled! Look at Singapore - despite of the severe discipline of children, such tiny country is one of the advanced nations in the world!
@@KM-qx2qi I am talking about the way this movie is portraying it. His new stepfather is cold and harsh and disciplined him unfairly according to the movie. 🙄If the movie is inaccurate, then so be it. I raised five outstanding children to adulthood. I know how to correct children the right way. There’s a right way and a wrong way. Discipline without love is never right. That’s what the movie portrayed.
@@KM-qx2qiso he is , but he is still very cold and harsh and there is a way of discipline, of course beating can lead to discipline but there is a better way , Edward never lover or cared about david

The incredible voice of Peter Woodthorpe(1931-2004) jumped out at me while listening to this. Here he plays Mr. Creakle but I knew him as Golum / Smeagol from the BBC radio play of Lord of the Rings from 1978. It appears this was his last performance on film.
Memories memories memories. We used to sit with my siblings and our brother Harun would read the novel to us. He had been bought while admitted in the hospital by our late dad and brought it home. I'm nostalgic

Demon Copperhead written by Barbara Kingsolver. It's basically David Copperfield reimagined and set in current day Appalachia and includes child neglect, drug addiction and poverty and the resilience of people who survive. I think it won the Booker Prize.
Now i see thet this kids in this 21st century era have more freedom snd have and enjoy more happiness compare to the kids back on late 1800s thst experience such abuse and no voice to fight for themselves snd their rights. I've had david copperfield on my bookshelf for like 10 years, and it has always put me to sleep before page 3. Let's see if this is a snoozefest, too.

I always hated Edward Murdstone because he was a cruel heartless man for torturing, treating badly to David
Im sure he killed Davids mother and a bunch of other young ladies. Him and his ugly old ""sister""

I cannot respect any woman that allows a man to treat her child or children like she allowed David to be treated. Sad.
