I had heard about the campaign, but I don’t think I had ever gotten the bigger picture of the buildup to the reveal until now. That was very interesting and comprehensive! Also, random side note, but some of those early ads that you showed that had Herb’s parents and friends talking about him, immediately reminded me of the scene in “The Lego Movie” where Emmett is shown the video footage of people in his life explaining him behind his back.
An entire corporation hounding one man to try their burger to the point of turning the man’s family and friends against him to pressure him to conform? You can make a Truman Show-esque thriller with that concept. Maybe even an “ARG” as the kids are obsessed with saying these days.
People underestimate how much the Burger King Kids Club helps Burger King create a much-needed long-term identity. Identify what Burger King lacked until the creepy Burger King ads years later.
