Dude, disassembly of an electronic device on a dark-pattern quartz surface is like playing in Expert mode. Get a mat or magnetic screw dish to prevent losing parts.
I def. came into this overly confident since I've worked on so many OG Switches and Joy Con 😂 I did not make the same mistake on my latest purple Lite build!
Not gonna lie, this is not an ideal project if you aren't comfortable taking things apart. The results are cool though! Glad I went through it even though it became a PITA
Got a switch lite cause I miss owning a switch. And day after having it I opened it up waiting on my other new shell do do a transparent/white build it will be my 5th time opening it up. Took my around 1hr to do my shell swap.
I replaced just the back half of my switch lite to be clear and kept the front grey. I think it looks great! There's also always skins if you're afraid to take apart your switch, or don't have the recourses.
Installed this same shell yesterday with a lite. Not as nice and tight fitting as the original shell as there were some slight gaps at the top and bottom but it does look nice.
I no longer have the Lite, but if you're concerned about durability definitely go with one of the clear options since it doesn't have that soft touch texture. While it feels nice at first, soft touch is pretty notorious for wearing badly unless you baby it
It certainly is an adventure! Believe it or not I get more frustrated with skins (always get wrinkles or bubbles) and prefer dealing with mechanical changes. But even I had a *lot* more trouble doing my latest shell replacement (latest video).
Didn't have an issue with cracking, but the soft touch coating did start coming off after a few months. I blame this mostly on the case I was using rubbing against it though. After I switched it to the purple case in the follow up vid, I did get a slight crack afterwards, but that was 100% on me since I dropped my Switch
Great tip for anyone interested in going through with this! I usually am a lot more organized, but I was overly confident since I had already done this to many regular Switches and Joy Con.
Quick question for you Juan, would you be able to link the tools you use. That little tool set with all the bits, wondering which one you use. If you can. Please & thank you. Want to shell swap my Lite but, want to buy the proper tools.
quick question, if I just wanted to change the 4 buttons on the right side real quick do I only need open the case and then replace the factory buttons with the custom ones ?
Likely not in stock, but this led me to look for alts and I see people are FINALLY making other colors! Added a new link in the description and pinned comment.

I want to do this with my lite but I’m scared of braking it

Nice video, I love this shell.
By the way what kind of grip do you have on?
How is this shell holding up? Is the paint wearing through or anything?

@@eightbitJuan Thank you for the reply. I ended up ordering the translucent options in a couple different colors.
I have literally broken everything I’ve tried to fix so I’ll be *sticking* to skins
(haha get it? Because skins are stickers? Okay I’ll go)
It certainly is an adventure!

Dude this white shell should look pretty good with the coral pink bezel
I really enjoyed watching you! I hope you continue to upload videos :)
im really hoping that they make a lot more colors cause ive only seen the clear purple ones and white ones
Same! I would totally be down for more options or intricate designs like we have on the OG.
you know of anyone that has tried, and succeeded to add rumble to this switch? I feel like if you remove the games slot you can stash one in there.
Congrats, i'm your 100th subscriber
Great video! How has the shell held up after all this time? I've seen people saying that it's prone to cracks, etc

Easy fix: put all your parts and screws in a little Tupperware container while working.

If you have a hair dryer around you can probably also get away without needing a heat gun.
@@eightbitJuan thanks so much bro. Ended up getting the regular Switch Animal Crossing Edition. Indecisive to shell swap it lol
Nice pick!
This shells tend to show finger marks? My nintendo switch has marks around the buttons and i want to change the shell just for that
This is chill.
Hi, does the plastic buff smooth like Nintendo's cheaply made plastic? Especially around the face button area? Thanks.
So far this shell has been fine, but I didn't have that issue with the stock one

Yes. You'd still have to disassemble a bit of stuff, though
Muchas gracias amigo 😃👍
Why is the shell different in Amazon?

does the color turn yellow or darker after a while?
So far it has maintained its color. I'll try to update here if that changes at some point
Some one NEEDS to put a switch(inerds) console in a wii u shell who's with me..
Who's coming with me maaan..

Yeah, I don't trust myself so I'm just gonna pay the people at the game store to do it for me😂
