Owned an '87 CRX Si purchased new and drove it for over a decade. Installed a Jackson Racing suspension and close ratio steering rack which gave the car tremendous handling. I can imagine that handling with about 250 BHP on a race track. No wonder why this little car is staying with a C5 Corvette, Nissan GTR and AMG Mercedes. Both generations of the CRX were incredible fun to drive..
That was superbadass! Nice display of driving talent. I can't believe with the rod ratio angles of the B20, that you can get it to rev so hard. A testament to the tune. Thanks for sharing.
That little thing looks so out of place out on the track with cars that cost 10x what it does. Keeping up just fine though. Amazing what a well put together Honda with a decent driver can do.
Squealing tires also means that you are hitting the limit of the tires. From what I learned in in autox, it's actually a good thing because you are learning the limits of the tires and knowing how to take specific corners and certain speeds. Hell, you can understeer the entire corner and still run a good time if you take the corner right.
It's up to you if you think a CRX is worth getting because for safety reasons, they are not as bad as you're making them out to be. And you don't really need a K20 swap to race. I would suggest not doing any kind of swap yet until you know the car enough. The majority of CRXs that I've seen at autox still have the OEM (D series) motor and those guys are in pro class. They usually get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place every time I go autox.
@mrphrancis013 From what I saw the vette almost lost control cause he was going too fast into a turn, not cause the other pilot was too aggressive. If anything, the other guy was trying his hardest not to let the CRX pass him and that's what almost caused him to lose control.
If the tires are squeeling, its meaning you are driving the corner too fast, which will cost you time when accelerating. The only drawback of the CRX is, that if you drive it on the street and are involved in an accident - you are instantly dead.
I love to see all motor cars win. and it doesn't matter if it's a Honda, a v8 Mopar, or any other. it takes actual talent/skill to build a winning naturally aspirated engine. I personally am so sick of turbo and nitrous engines that make 1500, 2000 or more horsepower. and that's true whether its the "street cars" on street outlaws, or any other class of cars. no matter how much power a turbo or nitrous car makes, it won't EVER sound as good as an all motor car, whether 4, 8, or 12 cylinders
Well, i really wanted a streetcar with the performance of a racecar. The best way to go was the CRX - light, looks good, good power with k20. But i somehow dont want to risk my life just for that. I tried to find anything to make the car more safe, but it seems impossible.
@mrphrancis013 IMO the amateurs have to let the professionals pass, when they notice, that they are beat and are struggling to not let the other one pass..
***** An experienced driver with a fully gutted crx thats around 1950lbs with what sounds like a fully tuned B series that should put him around 190-200hp this car does probably high 11 second quarter mile times you know what else does that? 09-12 GTR. This car is no joke but when you have a guy that goes to the track every weekend and has a dedicated race car vs some 40-60 year old with his mid life crisis car that goes to the track maybe twice a year guess whos gonna be better?
Nice car and good driving skills. I love the car. Just ease up a bit before you cause an accident, you are too aggressive. That's why the guy in the vette damn near lost his car. Only do that with pros, not an amateur track day.
Well, it wasnt a 90degree crash... more like 45degree. Most of the energy threw the car in the air, so the engine didnt even get a scratch, but the front axle wasnt on the car anymore. Also the Gearbox collapsed when the car hit the ground again. Yeah, it doesnt have to. But i had one previous crashs, had summertyres, it was 3degrees celcius and raining. A hole in the corner made my car liftoff oversteer and so i couldnt do anything.
Al amigo que subió el vídeo que ponga que es Chile, no sé para que los suben en ingles, o los estadounidenses los suben en español?? Por otra parte, repasaso al corvette, sls y m3 jajaja
Ok, can still be a good time - compared to the others, since everyone makes mistakes. Imagine a CRX getting hit from the side, while it is waiting for the lights to turn green. The CRX-driver will have no chance. This is the main reason, why i dont buy myself a CRX. I know, that i am paying attention, that i am unlikely to do an accident. But on the streets you arent driving with racedrivers. Just maybe a dude, who drops his phone in the car and crashes you and ends your life.
@ridv34 That's why I said he was too aggressive for an amateur. The guy in the CRX is fine as far as going the way he did. He was just too aggressive for the amateur in the Corvette. Any real racer will let a person pass when they know they are beat. Whether it is a track day, or in some cases a professional race. This guy just needs to ease up on the amateurs.
Yeah, but i want a car that i can push to its limits - like my Civic EP2. Its funny somehow. One month ago i crashed into a stonewall with 70mph. The only thing that happend to me was that my back hurt a bit and that i had a scratch on my leg, thats all! the car was totally gone though. Dont judge over me because i wrecked my car - there were many things not going as they should ve. But thats why i dont want to risk my life - just my car.
Yeah it's a car that was made from the 80s and early 90s. I bet you that every car that was made in the era is dangerous. Not only that but are old and rusted out most of the time (unless you live in an area with no snow). Back in the days, they didn't have high tech shit for crash test rating compared to what we have today. The limit on a car being safe for roads was also low back then too so car companies could even make their car out of plastic, like the 1st gen CRXs. Plastic everywhere.
To anyone who hates one platform or another need to get your edumacation checked learn to appreciate all forms of cars I love imports more than any cars but I will not hesitate to say a gto is amazing or an 82 camaro ls swapped and built is psycho cool or a 53 ford pickup with a fully built 513 making 700hp makes me speechless but I love my honda's mitsubishi's nissan's equally as much and they're more efficient
If you hit a tree at 200kph your dead anyways. CRX is unsafe but its a classic wich should not get detroyed so just take care and slowly drive riskier when you gain experience. by the way its allredy fast with d16, b16 and b18 makes it damn fast and this thing here comes straight from hell! it messes with supercars cost as much as hundret crxes..
First round - Ok. Second round - well.. Third round - Seriously, somewhen he has to know, how to take the corner. I call BS on the last sentence. If you understeer(with a fwd) you will definitely lose time because of tractionloss.
70kph into a stone wall? cant be straight, you would be dead then also in a civic ep. and as you crashed, its good that you dont had a crx ;) and driving at the limit, or close to it, doesnt have to end in an accident..
The previous crash was a factor, because i didnt care about the car -neither about my life at that time anymore. Had to pay hundreds of euros, my car was kinda destroyed and despite the fact that the crash wasnt my fault, my lawyer failed to do anything. Massive Shit happend in that week. Luckily the other guys i was racing, stopped, checked that i was alive and told the police that i just evaded a animal which crossed the road, so my insurance pays the crash.
I said you can still run a good time. Didn't say fastest. This is because you're at the limit (and even surpassed the limit) of the tires throughout the entire corner. Oh and you said this "The only drawback of the CRX is, that if you drive it on the street and are involved in an accident - you are instantly dead." What is this supposed to mean? Taking corner on public roads? This isn't Need for Speed man...
So your saying that this CRX can keep up with a 500hp 4wd GTR35 because its a small track? No its because its an amazing built car, i love how a japanese car worth 5 grand can keep up with the pinacle of American engineering in the corvette lol makes me laugh.
hahaha badass, i can imagine the gtr driver driving with one hand with his climate control on, this u ahve to work and to know how to drive and follow the perfect line to be fast in :)
LOL Honda Idiot? I'm a fan of all cars, Of course the SLS would pull of the straight, it has a 6.3L V8 and cost $300,000. and the only way the vette would win is on an oval...... Oh wait theres plently of them in America
i gotta say its been years now and this video still makes me smile every single time i watch it lol.
Owned an '87 CRX Si purchased new and drove it for over a decade. Installed a Jackson Racing suspension and close ratio steering rack which gave the car tremendous handling.

nice video crx was kicking ass love the sound of that motor.vtec kick in yo
great set up and awesome driving!
Got my crx out today from its winter sleep b16a loving the cold Canadian air
Love the camera transition!
BRAVO! Un autentico MISIL! Un SideWider! Congratulations!
awesome video!CRX!
Fire on the Vette down the back straight🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
sick car! keepin up with some of the fastest supercars out!
Congratulations!!!
Driving that FF by the book, sexy left foot braking.
Did you know the corvette driver? In the uk he would have been booted off the track for such silliness. The Crx was faster, deal with it!
videos like this are great motivation
inexpensive (compatively) CRX
vs much more expensive cars
and the CRX holds its own
great driving. I miss my rex
Makes me even more proud to be a CRX owner, lol.
Amen to that. Proud owner of a 1991 JDM EF7 here. DOHC ZC1.6L for the win!
Claro en la trazada, conoce su auto, usa sus dos pies con el freno...... un crack.
thats skill right there
That little thing looks so out of place out on the track with cars that cost 10x what it does. Keeping up just fine though. Amazing what a well put together Honda with a decent driver can do.
also how much does the car weight and what is the width of your tyres?
GREAT video, love it!
@ridv34 Either way great video. Keep it up.
Respect.

ill ass ride bro killing it with this bad ass setup!
you made them look weak nice job!!
Gread vid. These fancy car guys spend more time memorizing stats about their car from magazines than actually practicing their driving.
That hatch is boss lol
Nice skills, does your CRX have power steering?
It's up to you if you think a CRX is worth getting because for safety reasons, they are not as bad as you're making them out to be. And you don't really need a K20 swap to race. That vette was playing with that match box
lol almost loosing control a few times is not playing. that vette was sweating.
Vitor Trastoy The Vette wasn't playing with that CRX. He was lucky to stay ahead of him on that track..
The shitty corvette was trying its best.
only one that had a chance was the Mercedez Benz on the long stretches... that was a cool fkn video...
Nice car. Whats the specs on the motor?
but that vtec sound tho
Is this stuff as fun as it looks?
02:00 Release the Kraken! LOL

Those guys in the more expensive cars aren't even driving their cars to the limit whereas the CRX is hitting the limit a lot.
@PiroFyre little do you know..
damn e cutout lol no joke
@mrphrancis013 IMO the amateurs have to let the professionals pass, when they notice, that they are beat and are struggling to not let the other one pass..
Obviously the Vette guy was trying but the other cars (like the GTR) are not pushing the car too hard. But of course, skills
This isnt crx vs... this is experienced driver vs. shit driver
***** An experienced driver with a fully gutted crx thats around 1950lbs with what sounds like a fully tuned B series that should put him around 190-200hp this car does probably high 11 second quarter mile times you know what else does that? 09-12 GTR. maybe but is a 20-25k car vs a 100k car lol
Nice car and good driving skills. I love the car.

Some people just hate being pased up by a honda lol i have the same issue lol

this is why people hate Hondas because they spank anything on the track if your a good driver lol
Joe Armijo that's actually not true
Gonna elaborate? Orr
if you really want to know just look it up, you'll fine some good information :)
Let me guess little girl, yoiu drive a Honda
nope I don't have a car anymore but prefer rwd or awd :) ...and im guessing you didn't look it up either huh?
lol, then u was lucky^^
crx needs more power

this guy doesnt have the balls to pass
he can't pass because of torque steer, if he attempted he will probably crash and die or do a donut.
hahaha badass, i can imagine the gtr driver driving with one hand with his climate control on, this u ahve to work and to know how to drive and follow the perfect line to be fast in :)
pasao a caca
mete-o numa pista verdadeira não é mini pistas ,depois quero ver a apanhar gtr mercedes corvete
