  • I was Unprepared for this Philippine island 🇵🇭 Philippines
Today I traveled from Davao City, Philippines to the nearby island of Samal. This Filipino island is a short ferry ride from Davao city, Philippines, making it an easy weekend getaway or a longer term stay. Samal island is a beautiful Filipino island located in Mindanao, Philippines! Thanks for watching!

I'm sorry the guy asked you for a water, next time just say no, a good person will help for free...I'm filipino but I'm embarrased to tell you that some of my kababayan would see you/foreigners as money instead of a person......but anyways i hope you won't get disappointed because i assure you that there are more and more and more Filipinos who will treat you good and will respect you.

Hi Jonathan! I'm from Davao City and I saw your Vlog in SAMAL Island just now. Please bear with those drivers in the port area as they are a bit silly and annoying sometimes. There's a lot of high end resorts in SAMAL for you to discover. I hope you have someone to accompany you so that you can resist some of the opportunistic people who wants to get something from you. Although they are not harmful but sometimes it's annoying to mingle with those kind of people. I salute your patience towards that kind of people. I hope you enjoy Davao and Mindanao. Stay positive 😉

I cant recall his name , i misplaced his contact number but he said he is from Cagayan de Oro and lives in Samal Island with his wife.

I've been to Mindanao a couple times but only in very specific areas in South Cotabato. I can recommend the Sarangani province, very close to Gensan, for a relaxed experience and nice beaches surrounded by mangrove forests. They charge you a tourist fee in the checkpoint, last time it was around 20 pesos, earlier this year.
Also Lake Sebu is worth a visit, one day should be enough, there you can go into traditional boats and learn about the indigenous tribe T'Boli, who are the original inhabitants of that area

I've never been to Samal Island always wanted to go - even when I was young. But my parents always say - you spend dollar in Samal island. Your experience summed up what my mum said -- and this was well over 25 years ago.. so it's always been an expensive place then..
and i'm from Kidapawan city - and the closest "big" city is Davao.. by the way since you're in the area - if you happen to travel around there -- look for Lake Sebu (few hours drive) is also some kind of experience, and Makilala (kinda like half tamed monkey sanctuary) --- by the way, these two are opposite ends from davao...

Yes!! That was in Mang Inasal! Haha.. I hope she understood my humor when I said that. I think I said “you stole my chair! 😂” it was definitely meant to be in a joking manner, so hopefully she understood that (but she did steal my table 🤣) I was sure to say thank you as I was leaving though. Tell her I said hello!

She might be in background as I eat halo halo 😂 but I don’t think she is. I think the camera was pointing the other way ruclips.net/video/KlL-XtnS_ps/видео.htmlsi=7UYJuXiRuouzH4MA

@@MegaZewe base on the video, I don't like how those individuals acted around him, ig they need to be tamed down....poor attitude, this need to be addressed by the local tourism, we shouldn't tryna rob an innocent tourist...ik this ain't new. It's happening anywhere else in the world , but such behaviour shouldn't be tolerated and being a Filipino we need to be discreet with our action, not ruining the real Filipino culture.... helping others without asking anything in return for the favors. Idk, if that makes sense but, I don't like they way they acted.

I know what you mean about those who are in Luzon because I experience them myself, mostly during festival season like when Christmas is near....ig those are indigenous group of people, I would understand them because some of them are not taught or not having an education.

The unripe mangoes with Bagoong is a thing here btw. It's an acquired taste - both the sour mango and the Bagoong, so i'm not surprised you didn't like it. We Filipinos love it though. Esp. pregnant women. They crave for that. :)
