We camped and fished in Creed in the 70s. It was fly fishing heaven with no pressure to speak of.
That sounds amazing. It's still pretty un pressured compared to a lot of places, but has been getting busier for sure.
When a stream receives so little fishing pressure it's crazy how big the fish can get. I cant imagine a place like deckers if it had the same fishing pressure as that stream
Right. With such an abundant food source, it would be crazy I bet
Hey fishing buddies... before the crowds... before the flood of 95... before whirling disease... Deckers was epic. You could stand on Deckers bridge at Hwy 67 and look down in the pool and see 30 - 35 fish 12 to 22 inches. The 23 to 26 inches were upstream from the campground in the canyon.
Love it there
It was awesome. Can't wait to get back that way to do more exploring
I just fished here 2 days ago and saw a beautiful drake hatch, bugs everywhere, but no fish :( It receives a lot of pressure now and the fishing sucks compared to 10-20 years ago. Southern colorado used to be a gem, but now it's turning into texanville with people and campers everywhere.
Drakes are the best. I hope I can catch one this year. Didn't get a good one last year .
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed.
Awesome vid. I want to plan a trip down that way and fish the Rio too. Which campground is this?
We camped dispersed up there. There is a good amount of that available throughout that area. If you have Instagram shoot me a message there since RUclips doesn't have that option anymore.
Nice fish. Great video. How many days fishing does this cover? What flies where used?
Thanks. It was one day. Afternoon and evening. Used an orange stimulator on top with a small baetis/Pheasant tail dropper
That was a lake trout at 7:00 ... were you near a dam?
After catching a bunch of Lakers ice fishing, I've always wondered if that was one or a splake or something. We were downstream a ways but I think there is a dam within a few miles.
God's Country
It's an amazing area. Wish it were a little closer to home but that's probably why it's so secluded in some places
If you fish a bigger weight rod you won’t have to play the fish for so long: one of the variables in c&r mortality.
Makes sense. Will definitely up size next time up there. I really wasn't expecting some of that size fish in this size of stream.
If you’re so worried about the fish maybe you shouldn’t fish.
Always pulling out hogs
Missed the best one too but the stream was fantastic. Will go back for sure
