I’ve been tying a version of this PMX for years as a cricket. First found it at a local fly shop years ago and started tying them. They are killer summer flies on the limestone streams here in Pa ! These and Chernobyl ant patterns are my favorite summertime flies.

Yo, what is the downside to using spanflex instead of round rubber legs for a size 10 chubby Chernobyl? Don’t like the colors of regular rubber legs I have in stock right now

Me personally I don’t think there is a down side. I think spanflex gives more movement. I use it on my chubby’s and it works fine. You shouldn’t worry about trying something. Sometimes fishing a fly a little bit different than what everyone is buying at the fly shop is a good thing.

Spanflex be like using sili legs. Agree with more flexible movement an smaller, great material. Down side would have to say larger style dry flies would be able to help stabilize to keep it from rolling.

Good fly. Love those and Quigley Cripples. Wouldn’t go anywhere there are mayflies hatching without them.
