You can tell by smoothly he handles his tools and how he worked the shoe on the anvil - and how he pre-fit the shoe - this man is a true craftsman! Well done sir!
I really love how gentle he handles the horse ❤ dedicated in life to help horses walk and distribute their weight properly again, while killing his own back - what a man 😊
As A horse I am very much satisfied with his work..
Thank you, Maupin for the first video of the New Year! May the new year bring you heath, wealth and happiness!
For those who are wondering, the horse does not get hurt. It is like you are wearing shoes, and the restoration is happening beneath the shoes. You feel it, but will not get hurt. Same thing happens with the horse. Hope it helps.. 👍
The hoof is like a giant, thick nail, the horse does not feel pain on the hoof anymore than we feel pain when we trim a nail, basically.
@@ManoredRed unless you cut to close and dig too deep. That is why a good farrier is worth his weight in gold. Healthy horses can be kept in shape by responsible owners. But once a problem arises, the horse needs an expert. If you had an ingrown toenail you'd go to a professional, they keep the discomfort to a minimum because they know the hoof anatomy.
Horse would soon make it known if he was in pain.
I find it hilarious that anyone thinks otherwise. The horse isn’t restrained in any way, and can kick a farrier at any point. Some do
To a horse this is just like a mani/pedicure or a haircut. You don’t feel pain when you’re at the barber or when you’re clipping your toenails. But if you nip your scalp with the blades or cut your nails too short, shit’s gonna hurt. It’s all about taking care.
Always impressed at this skill and ability. They can see things and adjust thing in ways to fit that are amazing.
I can’t believe this video only got 4K likes and literally had 1.2mil views. Like come on people! This video is amazing!
This is pure craftsmanship
Great job and oddly satisfying. Great side shot showing how the new shoe helps with the restoration!!
This horse is very calm
My back hurts watching farriers work.
A master craftsman at work. A delight to watch.
I was surprised that you didn’t put in some resin in the broken part of the hoof.
Man! This guy really knows what he’s doing. What skills.
You did a beautiful job restoring that horse hoof and shoeing! ❤
Nice job; given the broken & missing lateral wall, and the nails still in the hoof, guessing he pulled a shoe off and that's why the lateral chunk is missing. But there's also a surface quarter crack coming there - the missing chunk creates its own floated relief, but what are your plans for dealing with that crack over time? (With no narration, One is left to ponder, lol.) Happy New Year. Keep making these vids - Nice to come hold with an aching back and throbbing arthritic knees, and rasp-scraped knuckles, and sit back with a cold one and watch someone else working!
That was my thought, whenever there is a big ol chunk missing out of the hoof of a shod horse, 9 times out of 10 it's because they threw a shoe, lol
He makes it look so easy...😮👌🏽
It would be nice to see the whole horse for a few seconds not just the hoof
Type “horse” into a Google search, then click on “images” and you will see what a horse looks like.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL job. Lucky horse ❤❤❤🎉🎉
Damn, that hoof knife is a thing of beauty.
That's gonna be one happy horse thanks to this awesome man
Yes, of course, I would like to see more. I’m trying to restore our Civil War era blacksmith shop at the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, Nevada.
That must feel so much better. Shoeing has been around for centuries. It doesn’t hurt the horse.
GREAT Job Mr. Blacksmith
That man has skills.
This is highly skilled work.
Beautiful new shoes for a lovely horse ♥️
Like glove...the horse will like the new shoes
Now this is a man ,I need me one of these
Good clean honest work.
One horse takes almost an hour?? Holy moly
I was always told that the frog is pretty sensitive, is it similar to the rest of the hoof in that it has growth that covers the sensitive parts?
So satisfying
very skilled man
Nice job! What skill 😮
I have been watching these videos everyday for the past 2 weeks!!! haha WTF RUclips! :P
Beautiful work, thank you.❤❤❤
It's always nice to watch a Mastercraftman's work. =}
When you close over the back of the frog , it holds rocks and debris, but if you leave it open when he moves it will clear naturally 🎹🎼🎼🎺!
Very nice work
Feliz 2024 thank you my friend
Like your work.
Every time I watch a farrier doing back hooves, I always wonder how many times they've been pooped on! 😅
Bravo chacun son métier
My kind of video. - Not a lot said, but the job got done.
🥰GOD JOB!🐎🐎🐎🐎
Milei,s shoes!!
i know nothing of horses, so I am genuinely curious, why do "wild" horses not need horse shoes? I live in the Western US and we do have horses that live in our high desert areas.
Good question, they generally wear them down because they're constantly running over rough terrain.
Question? So when you put the horse shoe on the top of the anvil looking thing is it a way of like using it as a way to make or see if its even?
I could be wrong on this, it’s a way to make sure it’s 100% flat and even, if its not flat rocks, mud, dirt ect can get into the crack of it and that’ll mess up the hoof!
@@M.U.S.H.R0.0.m I thought about that option too. I thought it was for flat and even. THANK YOU!
Really enjoyed that…
Why is it necessary or desirable to pare back the frog. What is the benefit?
Neat job.
It is normal for a horse to remain calm when undergoing this procedure? Very nice video
I don’t have horses myself so I can’t quite tell if it’s normal for them to stay calm. It shouldn’t hurt them tho. Their hooves are made from the same material as our fingernails are so it is as painless for them as clipping your nails. And should be done regularly as well so I assume they probably get used to it over time.
I’m a farrier here in Montana so I can tell you haha. The good clients that have taken the time to train there horse for the farrier are the ones that stand good. There are a lot of horses that either require sedation from the vets just so you can trim there feet without getting kicked or seriously hurt. I broke my wrist working on a dangerous horse last summer so I just say no or have them sedated. It’s probably a 50-50 of good standing horses and difficult ones but knowing how to work around them is key.
Nice work… what hoof knife are you using?
I like it!❤
wonder full art work
Krásná práce 👍💯👍💯👍
Un arte muy bonito y un alivio para el caballo
What does the scorching the shoe on the hoof do?
I think it's to check if the shoe is flush or not.
Tapak kudanya..di cetak sendiri atau di pesan broo?😮
Nice job.
How many times do you think that this guy got kicked either on purpose or by accident
He definitely gets a work out lifting n carrying that anvil. I know they are very heavy. My dad used to work in a welding shop years ago n they had an anvil there it wad heavy.
Your knife looks sharp and larger What brand is it and where can I find one
I wouldnt wanna have his lower back at 50
Happy New Year❤❤❤ may you be blessed as well as your family.😊
I'm curious why the bottom of the horse's hoof is branded. It obviously didn't hurt the horse so it's fine, but just wondering if there's a technical reason for it.
It’s to see if the shoe is flush or not
@@M.U.S.H.R0.0.m ohhhhh that's really smart actually. Thank you!
@@schleepy6362also kills white disease which is common to horses with shoes
that look like some major ocd you got there with the horse shoe man xD
Do you not answer questions in the comments, or read them??? Just curious.
No more Milwaukee sander?
Silly question: why do you use such a small headed hammer?
I’m not a farrier so I could be wrong! It’s probably more precise!
Hi❤
My bro just got them Nikes steel 12s pro max Edition
Austin County?
Smooth part of my brain: “it hurts them”
My only braincell: “no it doesn’t, it probably feels nice”
….
*it hurts the-*
SHADDUP
Bro, those forearms from just work?
Y is half the frog white with black close to the heel?
It’s probably bruising!
How did native Americans maintain their horses hooves?
Probably the same way, and I’m assuming without the shoes?
More impressed with the horse
말이 참 행복하겠네요 : )😜
Looks like some of that hoof was missing
Klasse 👍👍
❤😊
In der freien wilbahn haben pferde das doch auch nicht 🤔
The ground where horses live is rough and rocky. So as they run it wears down their hooves!

That's awesome!!! I know nothing about investment and I'm keen on getting started. What are the strategies?.
I'll advise you to work with a financial advisor.....Building a good investment portfolio is more complex so I would recommend you seek an expertise like Fergus Waylen's support with his top notch experience and insights to secure and minimize the possibilities of losses
Wow I'm amazed You mention expert Fergus waylen I thought I'm the only one that benefit from his services
Well, you are saying the fact. I invested $4,000 with fergus Waylen. and earned $12,000 .
It's been a good year since I found ways to improve my finances and by working with a renowned professional Fergus waylen, I was able to attain financial freedom.
Tools seem a bit dull 🤷♂️

I wonder what horses were doing before Humans
The rough and rocky ground they would run on would wear down their hooves for them!
Первый раз вижу, чтобы стрелку отрезали от пятки 🙄.....
It’s called a frog! And it does need to be trimmed. You don’t cut it off completely (for obvious reasons.) you just cut off the outer layer!
Маникюр😂
That looks painful
Hoof is basically keratin. Like hair or finger/toenails.

Horses hoofs are NOT METAL. Why would you put slippery METAL under foot? Get some new hard plastics or rubbery hoofs and watch him run , like with Asics. Horses should not Slip on dry or wet ground. A bare foot horse has better traction than a horse with a metal shoe. That's crazy. What Engineer thought of that? Oh wait.. I bet thats the problem. It takes an Engineer to fix everything. And nobody has discussed this yet except farmers.
-_- the shoes help horses hooves not get cracked, broken, ect. Because unlike horses in the wild, they can wear down their hooves themselves! Hard plastic would probably cause them to break their leg/s. Have you ever tried to run with hard plastic stuck to your feet on a wet surface? It’s just like being on a wet ice rink with no grip on your shoes. Rubber would do the same thing.
Not good
