  • Laffland is one of only a few operating dark rides manufactured by the defunct Pretzel Ride Company, of Bridgeton NJ. It was built at Sylvan Beach Amusement Park in 1954 and still contains many of its original stunts. This ride-through was recorded by Bill Cherkasky on August 3, 2023.

Sorry to disappoint, but it's a fake facade with no upper level

I used to go to into a ride in the same style, when I was a kid here in Mexico, back in the 80s; my favorite part of the ride was the second floor. The car came out into a balcony, and you could see the people waiting in line, then your car went back in and there was a little drop, that broke the monotony of the ride... and then you were greeted by a devil at the bottom, so it was like a "descent into inferno" sort of thing 🤣

Grew up at this park. It’s a classic but nothing like it used to be.
The dark ride was actually made from 2 old beach houses that used to be on the shore. They were moved to the current location, placed side by side and converted into the dark ride. You can see them clearly from google maps.

Another great installment...such a classic attraction not to mention the ride mechanism and props. Hope to see coverage on RUclips when Gene Staples crew gets Flying Witch up and running at Niagra.

In the early 80’s as a kid I got “stuck” in a similar dark ride at Riverside Park in MA
The cars stopped working and when they put the lights on and I remember being so surprised (and also a little disappointed) seeing all the other cars in the same big room without dividers.
The lights came on and they instructed everyone to walk out the nearest exits
It was kind of cool and a better memory then the ride itself probably
Does anyone remember the names of the dark rides at Riverside in the 1980’s ?

I have similar memories from small town dark rides. They were always just a big dark room, and when they broke down, the lights would come on and you would see everything around you.

This is close to where I live in Syracuse. Rode it as a kid, was too scared so i had my eyes clenched shut the whole time while my mother in the car with me kept trying to get me to open them. Good memories

It's amazing these dark rides still exist. It was okay at best. The Best one I ever rode on was golden nugget at hunts Pier in wildwood NJ

The Golden Nugget was a classic...part roller coaster, part dark ride.
