Asia Williams right like how can a makeup artist not know that you can't highlight black skin with the same products you use on fair skinned women....she needed warm peach and orange-toned cream highlights
Do Buzzfeed content creators not realize that they're putting the MUA on blast on how unexperienced she is with dark skin tones? Why would they put this video up when there's a HUGE FLAW? Is Buzzfeed really running out of content that they'll just put whatever video they can to satisfy their daily quota, even if it's not the best video? Geez. Buzzfeed.
Karl Marquez Even the Asian girl looked better without make-up. Everytime they get a "professional" to do something for one of their videos, they always end up doing a mediocre job in my opinion. The hairstylists rarely choose a haircut that goes well with the client's morphology (the one for Eugene was ok though), or with their hair quality. The make-up artists put too much make up (and not in the right shade), which makes you look like a male exotic parrot. Even the plastic surgeon sucked. Are they low on budget or something?
Buzzfeed I hope you guys are cooking up a redemption video for Daysha right now. Like a contouring video for all the brown girls in the office where the MUA actually has colors that match their skin tones.
Sad part is she DID have enough colors, I'm looking at a still of her palette, it just would've required some work with mixing and matching. She doesn't know sh*t about actual color theory and she applied a highlight waaaaay too light and then tried to blend it out. She's a total disgrace to the makeup industry.
+Lulu W. That's just it - this girl calls herself a MUA but all I see is her just applying makeup on her own face and posting it on IG. That does not a make-up artist make. There's a lot more to the craft than just being popular on the Internet.
+CiCiTV I don't think they messed up her hair in that video, but she obviously wanted something different than her natural hair. This girl fucked up her makeup tho.
+Cailyn Charron What? It's actually too dark. Daysha has a light reddish tone to her skin and the makeup used was actually darker than that and had a bluish/purple tone to it. That's why it doesn't look right.
And here we have a lesson on why Instagram MUAs ain't it. The wonders of someone who is IG popular with nothing but pics of them doing makeup on themselves --- GIRLS! don't fall for it. That womans slabbed colors on Daysha that are too pale for fluorescent beige folk and this time FaceTune wasn't available to save them. Welp, Daysha....your hair is cute.
exactly!! her eyeshadow was off too. I'm a makeup artist as well, and she did not do a very good job on the black girl, sorry I don't know her name, but yeah. the foundation and eyeshadow was WAAYYY OFF

if you're gonna call yourself a "professional makeup artist" you should have a kit you bring yourself to shoots. you should potentially have multiple kits depending on the job. at this woman's level she should have introduced herself as a professional makeup liker with little skill and less knowledge.
Driven Off The Edge Everyone can't apply makeup to African Americans unless they study what looks best on our skin. Like I wouldn't know how to put makeup on a white girl unless I worked at it!
They weren't trying to lighten her skin, it just came out lighter, that often happens when you do extreme contouring and highlighting, you just don't notice it on light skinned women.
Jaden Ernst No honey, search some AA contour tutorials on youtube none of them look ashy nor does it look ashy on light skinned. If it is coming out ashy looking that person is doing it incorrectly.
Jaden Ernst That's great! Since you say you are skilled then you will understand that the lightning that happens when one highlights is netrualized by the contour and the final look should in no way look how Dashya looks. Also a skilled MUA who knows how to work with AA people understand that the highlight color should have yellow undertones to avoid looking like bird poop or "ashy". So again you should take some time and learn how to work with AA's to become an even better makeup artist cause it seems your stuck on one side of the spectrum. Thanks, and hope you build your profession into a better one. :D
Alyssa Kalama what?? that made no sense.. i think you're missing the point. A PROFESSIONAL should be able to know how to do makeup and make it look flattering on all skin tones not just dark skin, not just fair skin, ALL SKIN TONES.
+Alyssa Kalama a cardio surgeon should be able to do ALL cardiovascular surgeries. Same goes with a neurosurgeon or general surgeon. That's why the spend several years in schools and learning; to become professional surgeons in their field.
How did they mess up the black girl makeup?! Like she could have done so much better. I rarely wear makeup but I know that the highlighter was too light like tf? Next time get someone who works with all skin tones not just light to medium. This is literally so insulting.
+Elana Tober Because in my opinion, you can't call yourself a makeup artist if you can't correctly match the shade of every skin tone. Her makeup was not that dark. All of the other women's makeup looked alright, but the black girl looked like a ghost.
+Elana Tober Why do you care if it offended her? Leave her tf alone. Its offending because the makeup artist had no idea how to work with darker skin tones yet she still has the audacity to call herself a makeup artist. She has a right to be offended
obviously she didn't have the correct shades for the black woman, its not racist, I don't see why youre offended, I highly doubt she messed up her makeup because of the melanin in her skin. its not like she messed up on YOUR makeup. its a completely different human.
***** Lots of professional makeup artists can't do makeup on dark skin. There was a dark skinned model who spoke out on this issue in the fashion industry pretty recently.
KnG1Dakota I believe she apologized and said that she didn't have the correct shades, but she still could have mixed the darker shades with the lighter ones to match her and then create a highlight and contour out of what she had for Daysha
This MUA is very talented but I dont think she is skilled in working with darker skin tones...the foundation was totally off and highlight was super obvious and too light.
The MUA blocked me for posting about the horrible job she did and providing constructive criticism and explaining the benefits of continued education. WOW. Childish at best.
I keep forgetting the name of the black girl, but the foundation was wayyyyy off smh! first the hairstylist now this make up artist. These people are not doing black women justice! They need to stick to doing pale skin tones... Update: I get it it's Daysha, thank you. For anybody asking the hair video is called: "Powerful hair makeovers that transform people's lives"
Shay l-/ I loved the woman who was contoured to look like an Asian Ruby Rose. It was perfect and amazing. I think the woman who was doing the make up did her best and it turned out great, they just had really bad lighting in the video. If you notice, during the process Daysha still looks good with the contour, but as soon as it was the finished product(different lighting) it looked too light.
M CJ Unfortunately it was on Buzzfeed this time, the girl in general I think was obviously more experienced doing contour on lighter skin but buzzfeed provided her with the makeup that was too light (the highlighted parts) instead of letting her bring her own kit
This was absolutely terrible. Poor Daysha! She looked like someone smashed her beautiful face in a pie. This whole thing was painful to watch. The best one was the girl with short hair but even her look was poorly blended and overdone. I can't believe this woman calls herself a makeup artist.
She is not a professional if this is the quality of work she's putting out. Not only were did all three of these women get botched makeovers, if you look closely, the "artist" herself is wearing makeup that is a good 2 or 3 shades too light and that isn't blended into her jawline/neck.
SunnieUrieCarlile And for your comment. Her foundation isn't too light at all. It matches her chest perfectly. It is all blended out fine. It is the angle and lighting that may be making you think that. Not trying to be mean at all..
Dasha has such a beautiful dark and radiant complexion, I know brown skin clients are harder to work with but.. come on. Dasha looked like she just did the full face high light challenge. I'd loooove to do makeup on someone with her skin /: Sorry to nitpick but her face looked way too shiny and pale. (Also sorry if I spelled her name wrong, I see different people spelling it different ways)
So true she just looked like a gold tin man they should have hired +Nikkitoutorials to do this video I personally feel like she is such a great makeup artist
Bonnie Allaut A little unrelated, I know, but is RUclips not letting anyone else change their profile pic? It keeps saying "error, make sure it's a JPG, PNG or whatever" and I'm trying to use a JPG image. I even tried using previous profile pictures and it still kept giving me error messages. I tried several hours ago and it was the same thing. Anyone else having this problem?
As a makeup artist, I would never have allowed myself to let this makeup go to camera. It was just awful. I dont care for excuses either... this is why I bring my own kit to every set... never rely on the "Production" to supply the product. You're the professional, that's why they are hiring YOU and not doing it THEMSELVES. ALSO if you pause at 1:20 you can see that she actually has a nice selection of shades to choose from for Daysha! SHE JUST DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S DOING! As for the other makeups, I thought that they were WAY too heavy and the symmetry was off. +BuzzFeedVideo / +BuzzFeed Need to step up their makeup video game and stop hiring RUclips/Instagram makeup artists that only display work on themselves!
This reminds me of my prom makeup. I had to go home and darken it on my own. If you cant do makeup on people of all colors then don't call yourself a makeup artist. It's really not hard
Ugh, I'm sorry about your prom makeup. Yea, and color matching is so important whether someone is cool tone or warm tone. You can't just slap a darker cool tone on a person when their coloring is clearly warmer. Color matching 101
+Timmy Akanbi Oh i'm sorry about your prom make up, it must have sucked :/ Each skin tone have it's own particularities and it's hard to get it right. But for a professional artist I didn't like it. Besides the asian girl, the other two were just...not good.
+TheOliviab1 girl... If they do her wrong one more time, I will personally fly to HQ and slice somebody. This "professional" got me fucked up if she thinks I'm buying one second of this "look" on Daysha. Worst part is that she had to be polite about it too, had I been Daysha I might've straight up walked off the set. Lol.
+Le Ours-garou exactly!! I am sooo sick and tired of it. I hope these complaints under this video will let buzzfeed realize that they got to do better.
+TheOliviab1 It's kind of difficult to have perfect knowledge on every skin tone. I'd like to see you try and do this. Seriously? Why does this concern you. Either way she is beautiful. The point is to see the power of make up, not to perfectly match skin tone.
Agree but I don't think she used yellow on daysha. I consider yellow a warmer color but she used some really cooler tones on her which did not work >.< 💔
+Christa T yeah daysha is so pretty and her skin colour is gorgeous....i don't know much about makeup but that makeup was terrible and painful to watch
Daysha is terrifying. Upset that she didn't color match. She looks ashy and the eyeshadow isn't helping either. For a "professional makeup artist" she clearly only works on her skin tone.
***** I was thinking the same thing. The colors were all wrong for her face. It made the makeup look sort of unflattering. The makeup artist mostly had little experience working with black/dark skinned individuals.
The make up artist good don't get me wrong but, only on herself. I just don't understand why she thought that using the same foundation on Daysha from the other girls was okay. Like isn't getting the right kind of make up for your're skin type and complexion a basic beginner thing?
+Vivienne Gucwa (travelinglens) Yup! I personally think orange works better, but I'm pretty fair toned. Just don't use lipstick for it, it doesn't turn out as magical, or magical at all.
Vivienne Gucwa Fair/Medium skin tones should use light peachy correctors, while dark/deep skin tones should opt for darker peachy colour/orange to colour-correct, works like a charm and allows to use less foundation :)
I think the dark skinned woman looks HORRIBLE! The makeup artist made an awful job. her skin is like 4 shades lighter and that eyeshadow? NO NO NO. I think the asian woman looked AMAZING! I love that makeup on her sooo mucj
Can we just find a black makeup/hair artist come in to do Daysha and Quinta and Heaven etc so they can know what they ACTUALLY look like with good makeup? I'm not trying to segregate (I know somebody's gonna say that I am). But, like the whole "Black girls try nude fashions" video, can we just get a little love without someone trying to whitewash Daysha or turn her hair into a birdsnest? I hate how they treat her. I know she wiped all that mess off after the shoot, fairly sure she took an hour to take down that hair mess too when that happened. Certain MUAs/hair stylists just don't know how to deal with darker skintones/kinkier texture and that needs to be recognized. -Hops off of soapbox-
Bella posted to her Instagram and apologized. Apparently a ton of people are going to her page and calling her racist because of this one video. She said that she's worked with many WOC and it had never turned out like that. The reason being that she wasn't allowed to use her own makeup. As a professional MUA you should be experienced working with all skin tones, and this MUA is, but she had to work with what was provided to her, which, in turn, made her look inexperienced with WOC. Depending on how long you've been following buzzfeed, you should know that they have had problems with MUA's in the past where the MUA could only use the makeup that was provided to them by buzzfeed. Some brands just have limited makeup for WOC, I don't know if that's the case here because I don't know what brand of makeup they are using. *hops off soap box*
Jaden Ernst Oh wow. I agree Bella 'effed up on Daysha but for people to go as far and call her racist is ridiculous. But even if she couldn't use her own makeup she should have known how to blend colors and stuff to get an acceptable look. She cant call herself a professional make-up artist and can't come up with acceptable last minute fixes sorry.
Daysha has such a beautiful skin color why would the artist ruin it by making her light? The girl has beautiful melanin that should not at all be lightened ever.
I feel like the lighting was bad or they need to find a makeup artists who knows how to do makeup on brown skin. I swear the black ppl always be looking pasty af
looking back at this video daysha's light foundation is waaayy too light for her skin tone its like 5 shades lighter as to the 2 shades lighter it should be no wonder she looks so pasty
Usually it's the lighting with darker colours, especially powders that don't photograph well or when light hits. And I'm not sure if she's a certified MUA or just a RUclips-declared Makeup Guru.
I feel you can't call yourself a "professional" if you can't do it on all skin tones. I don't know if she didn't know how to do her process on darker skin tones or if she came unprepared, but Daysha was looking very gray and I cringed.
+Alyssa Burton I couldn't agree more, if there is one thing a make up artist needs to be prepared with it's bases to suit ALL skin tones. If there's one thing I judge an artist on it's their ability to match a client's skin tone.
The only reason why Daysha's skin looked different was because she used a foundation that has an SPF. When the foundation is then blended the camera lights react to the SPF making the color look ashy.
Interesting video, but they should have left Daysha's clips out of the video if the makeup artist didn't know how to do makeup on dark skin. Yellow faded to dark gray? Really?
Your face makeup shouldn't be the colour of your face but the colour of your neck. Which hers is, so actually it is the right colour, it just looks like it isn't since her face is so naturally dark/red.
So when the artist said she was going to try different skin tones, she meant she was going to do pale makeup on all skin tones. Now that's what I call equality. PALE SKIN FOR ALL!! (with as much sarcasm as I can muster)
I never used to wear makeup because I never cared for it and my skin was very clear. When I started college though, I started having some acne, due to stress, that left blemishes I actually wanted to cover up. However I have a very oily face. When I went to a Sephora in Providence, RI a young White man helped me find a foundation and concealer that matched my face perfectly. He even educated me on my red undertone and what products to use or street clear of. I know I was lucky because I've seen quite a few Black girls looking like ashy, dead zombies with makeup done by an MUA.
+Don Dollie same! I always try and look for a black makeup artist. I literally had a white makeup artist try and convince me that my tone in makeup was a lighter color when i knew it was the darker color. Sigh it's so hard for us >_
Only the asian look worked. The white girl looked way too made up kind of clownish and I can't find words to describe how bad the dark skinned girl looked after.....
Makeup is never really tailored to darker skinned girls, the highlight she was using was much too light, and the contour color she was using was only about a shade darker than her natural skin tone. It's a great look in theory, but the makeup shades she had just weren't right
Jaden Ernst You make a point, but a good makeup artist really should have enough knowledge (or at least the right tones) to do the job. The fact that she used such a stark, pale color as a highlight just gives away her inexperience. I hate to say that it seemed like they only featured her because she started the trend. Her makeup is spot on, but doing others' makeup is another ballpark.
l RED l Yeah the extreme makeup contouring she did on these girls really should only be used for big events, like a photoshoot or maybe a prom type situation, where you want to look extra glam. Not for an every day contouring.
Jaden Ernst I mean yeah they could. I personally just wouldn't want to take all that time everyday.. takes me long enough with my contour/makeup already xD
3StarLogo Thank you! She's gray! I thought it was just me. I'll be the first to admit I don't know jack about makeup, but that looks awful. And while I understand the merit of contouring and highlighting, they've got WAY too much makeup on.
I feel sorry for her, she sounded so sarcastic when they saw what they looked like. I think the makeup artist should stick to doing makeup on her own face for now...
The only one that looks great is the beautiful Asian woman. The other two lovely ladies....well...one was turned into a drag queen and the other an ashy ghost (and ghost's can't even get ashy!). She clearly had different shades of foundation on that palette for the lady with darker skin. As an MUA she should know, whether its her makeup or not, how to mix the foundations properly to match and compliment a persons skin. Shame.
Jaden Ernst what I mean is that it's too much makeup for her. I love drag queen makeup (they can contour like nobody's business!) but they typically wear A LOT and make it incredibly dramatic. If that's the look she was going for then I guess it's okay but just looked like too much. Sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.
Completely agree. The African Americans skin is way too beautiful to be turned into that grey crap. And the beautiful Caucasian looked really scary after that. It was all wrong
She just really used the wrong highlighting shades. Dasha has a warm skin tone so she needed more of an orange/yellow highlight to not make her look icy. If you watch RuPaul's Drag Race you will see most of the women of color will use an orange/yellow to highlight so they don't have an icy-white washed look, and it is MUCH more natural looking! :)
Jaden Ernst "Let people do what they want with their faces" NO they didn't do their faces Bella did. She failed. No excuses even if production supplied the make up. She did not have to use alabaster on Daysha. She didn't even blend her eye shadow. Fail
+HERstoryFIRST I wasn't talking about this video. I was talking about all makeup. If people want to put on stage makeup as their every day look then so be it.
This MUA didn't even try to color correct for Daysha. She still looks gorgeous, but for someone saying they'd experiment with multiple tones, I feel like she really needed to take the products she used into account.
they did the black girl so wrong my goodness....
i wanna give her a baby wipe and tell her itll be oaky
and she was really acting like she liked it but she knew she looked a hot mess..this video needs to be taken down its embarassing lol...
and she was really acting like she liked it but she knew she looked a hot mess..this video needs to be taken down its embarassing lol...
yes it is me lool thank you, you should come and check out my youtube channel too !
+Jenny DesRoches I thought she looked very light and almost green
She didn't even do true "clown contouring" for Daysha, that's just regular contouring with the wrong colors.
+Annette S Even though she made Daysha look horrible, she said she was doing clown contouring on just 1 person and regular contouring on the others.
Her face was wayyy to light for her skin tone
+Caitlin Hannan Yeah, and that reflected light as much as a flash would in a picture, which made her skin look super oily ):
Thaf profile pic tho
I highly appreciate your profile pic. 🍓❤️
People CANNOT do makeup on black skin can they? The color was all wrong and too grey toned. SMDH.
Asia Williams right like how can a makeup artist not know that you can't highlight black skin with the same products you use on fair skinned women....she needed warm peach and orange-toned cream highlights
Asia Williams she looked dead..
I know, smh! 0.0
Her makeup looked horrible.
They used all the wrong colors like you can't use light colors on person dark skin
Daysha's foundation is wayyy too cool toned for her skin
MakeupNerd it's not even her shade
MakeupNerd it was the highlight shade
Kamy Beckett The highlight shade was WAY too light for her and made her skin color look ashy.
MakeupNerd yea
she just looked yellow

Exactly..The black women looked stunning but it looked like she had a mask on
Smiley Face *chime noises*
Raphanne i thought the asian girl looked beautiful but not like herself
the only time somebody's makeup would look good was if it was done by a drag queen
Buzzfeed I hope you guys are cooking up a redemption video for Daysha right now. Like a contouring video for all the brown girls in the office where the MUA actually has colors that match their skin tones.

+Lidiya Abroad Even the makeup on herself on her IG is too pale! She is really just not very good.
truuuue 👌👌👌
PREACHHHHH
buzzfeed really needs to make a video just for Daysha. they continue to mess up her hair and makeup and she's so nice and sweet about it.
PREACH 👐👐
She's paid to do it XD
I love Dayshas "What if I knew I was beautiful" video
+CiCiTV I don't think they messed up her hair in that video, but she obviously wanted something different than her natural hair. This girl fucked up her makeup tho.
For real tho. I woulda smacked someone if they gave me a "natural fro" in that hair transformation video. Daysha is awesome
Poor Daysha! She looks like the tin man! The makeup looks about 4 shades lighter than its supposed to be!
Right! I feel like the girl never really learned how to contour African Americans and so she just decided to make her lighter
ik :'(
Lol yep
I know I felt so bad but maybe the makeup artist wasn't used to doing makeup on that shade of skin?
+Maggie Mae that means nothing
The makeup artist should've realized she messed up on Daysha when the "contour" shade she picked was the same color as dayshas skin tone
Lol yeah
+Bella Da Unicorn I love your profile pic. (:
+Christina Mack Thank you!
+Christina Mack Misha is bae
Bella Da Unicorn Totes, and Dean!! (:
I feel bad because Daysha was so excited and then she looked in the mirror...
Who is she?
I know, but, which of them?
The white girl
The short haired girl
Or the black skin girl?
but she was gorgeous
BeyoncèVEV O it's not racist ☺
Yes she was so excited
Daysha's makeup was way way way too light. I almost felt bad for her. She is still incredibly gorgeous though
I agree, she's beautiful but the artist did a poor job of color matching. It shouldn't look like a mask.
omigosh yes shes gorgz bt that mua messed her face up
Chileeeee daysha looked casket ready! They didnt even have to do her like that!!!!
Yeah, she has such a rich natural skin tone, didn't need to be completely obliterated
+Cailyn Charron What? It's actually too dark. Daysha has a light reddish tone to her skin and the makeup used was actually darker than that and had a bluish/purple tone to it. That's why it doesn't look right.
Daysha deserves an Oscar for that performance
Delia Mae right she know it’s a mess
To This Day !!!!!! Where is Her Trophy😠?
And here we have a lesson on why Instagram MUAs ain't it. The wonders of someone who is IG popular with nothing but pics of them doing makeup on themselves --- GIRLS! don't fall for it. That womans slabbed colors on Daysha that are too pale for fluorescent beige folk and this time FaceTune wasn't available to save them. Welp, Daysha....your hair is cute.
I was mad she acted like she liked it. I would have thrown that mirror.
***** Glad I wasn't the only person who noticed that.
Her skin look bout ashy as hell. Like her skin looks brush gold. 😕 I hope buzzfeed pays her well, because this is just sad.
38ktgold I was mad when they did her real hair and left it messy and she was so appreciative...I hope they're paying her well.
exactly!! her eyeshadow was off too. I'm a makeup artist as well, and she did not do a very good job on the black girl, sorry I don't know her name, but yeah. the foundation and eyeshadow was WAAYYY OFF
BELLA DE LUNE , if you don't know how to do makeup on dark skin tones, then you're not a good makeup artist .
She made her look gray
PREACH!!!
So true...the makeup looked crazy and ashy #notagoodlook.
+Hannah Johnson Well She Might have just added to many light skin tones which corrupted the dark skin tones. GET IT RIGHT! jeez Hannah so quick to judge
+kamstacheo :D But yes her dark skin tones were off and if she ever wants to be professional then she must Learn to Blend skin tones within the right shades!
She should never do makeup on a black woman ever again.
Jasmine Simone she needs to learn or find a new job
***** I love this comment
victoria f wordddd i saw the clown face on candace and i was waiting for her to fix daysha's but she had the nerve to just go and blend...lmao god bless daysha for staying so positive but nah i wouldnt have any of that
Jasmine Simone I don't think she ever has either. Hence the problem
I really tried to be positive about her look.. but I agree with you lol. she should've went with a more brownish color.. ugh lol
This lady needs to learn how to do makeup on a black women like that was sad. And she was trying so hard to act like she liked it😂😂
Mckena Grace I think she said it a public apology that they didn't give her the right shades to match Dayshas skin..
if you're gonna call yourself a "professional makeup artist" you should have a kit you bring yourself to shoots. you should potentially have multiple kits depending on the job. at this woman's level she should have introduced herself as a professional makeup liker with little skill and less knowledge.
I'm really hoping that the darker skin toned woman's foundation was just really reflective and didn't look that bad in real-life
Yeah
Mikayla Snow Pretty sure it did. the MUA was ineXperienced with people with a rich skin tone, I dont think she had the products for the job.
It looks horrible. It looks like she didn't have a color dark enough
"darker skin toned woman" hahaha that's a new one :p
***** Me too :) it was refreshing seeing someone actually try to be racially sensitive
daysha got played
Preach
Fr😂😂
right😩😔
I feel like the blending was good but the color was so off. Just like totally mixed up between warm and cold tones. 😕
LMAO! fr
Totally messed up daysha she looks so gray
yeah, she isn't very good with other skin shades
Tristalista period. she can’t call herself a makeup artist if she can’t work on melaninated/darkskin.
The black girls face now looks silver
Lol I felt so bad for her 😩
+Brooke Ashley Yeah, i thought she looked horrible. Much better without the makeup.
Yeah, the colours were all wrong so she ended up looking super ashy
It looked ashy
+ולריה רוזמרין hahaha xD
it doesnt really match the black girls skin
Driven Off The Edge yeah the mua used the wrong color palette
Driven Off The Edge yeah.. it made her look grey and kind of dead o_O
She looked gray
Driven Off The Edge Everyone can't apply makeup to African Americans unless they study what looks best on our skin. Like I wouldn't know how to put makeup on a white girl unless I worked at it!
KatReneé XOXO It's kind of a shame, especially because of how she makes a point of saying "different skin tones" at the beginning.
Daysha be honest, this looks way bad and it is disgusting that they would try and lighten your beautiful skin.
I don't think she was trying to lighten her skin tone... She just didn't use the right colors
She wasn't trying to lighten her skin. The makeup artist used the wrong shades of color on her.
Someone help these girls. Especially Daysha she didn't deserve that kind of treatment 😭
nate the snailboi well if Daysha likes the way she looks in it, it doesn't matter.
I don't get what you are trying to say. Are you being mean or nice?
Aliya Kensler they are being "mean". They meant the makeup artist didn't do a good job and the black woman's makeup looked horrible for her skin tone
nate the snailboi
IKR I feel bad cause there aren't a lot of shades 😭 but they looked great without makeup and with ❤️️
If she can't do a black woman's makeup correctly they should have left daysha out of it
MimiMadness94 or get someone who is actually a skilled mua, that knows how to match colours.
MimiMadness94 buzzfeed were the ones who supplied the makeup its not her fault that they didnt get the right tone for daysha
as a mua wouldnt she make sure the products were correct before putting her work on a platform that reaches thousands of people?
Whoever got the makeup obviously didn't get the right tones for Daysha, but Bella should have said that she didn't have the right tones to work with.
true she should have at least tried to mix shades to make the right color
If you cant do makeup on all skin tones you are NOT a professional makeup artist
This is a lot like saying "if you can't do all surgeries on humans you are NOT a professional surgeon" shut up.
Alyssa Kalama what?? that made no sense.. i think you're missing the point. A PROFESSIONAL should be able to know how to do makeup and make it look flattering on all skin tones not just dark skin, not just fair skin, ALL SKIN TONES.
+DoryenxBeauty Right. I'm not going to have a surgeon perform a surgery on me that he/she isn't familiar with either, wtf?
Jason MacGillivray exactly! her comment made no sense at all lol
+Alyssa Kalama a cardio surgeon should be able to do ALL cardiovascular surgeries. Same goes with a neurosurgeon or general surgeon. That's why the spend several years in schools and learning; to become professional surgeons in their field.
don't mean to brag but uh I can paint faces silver too.
makeup artist in a nutshell
Lol!!
Those were not the right tones for Daysha... she seemed so excited I feel so bad :(
How did they mess up the black girl makeup?! Like she could have done so much better. I rarely wear makeup but I know that the highlighter was too light like tf? Next time get someone who works with all skin tones not just light to medium. This is literally so insulting.
+Keziah White how does someone elses makeup insult you?
+Elana Tober Because in my opinion, you can't call yourself a makeup artist if you can't correctly match the shade of every skin tone. Her makeup was not that dark. All of the other women's makeup looked alright, but the black girl looked like a ghost.
it offends you that she messed up someones makeup? alright then.
Daysha's makeup had me cringing so hard man
Sameeee
Me too. It was like white face or something
right?!?
Me too! I knew it would be bad when I saw how light those colors were.
me too
She's obviously not a professional makeup artist because she can't match that dark skinned girl's skin color. Everyone looks so cakey and stripey.
And I'm surprised this "makeup artist" is teaching classes. I'd rather learn from someone who can match every skin tone and has an actual portfolio.
+Andy T chill. She probably brought a bag, and didn't have dark enough colours.
+Andy T I totally agree with you , but that is kinda hard to know every perfect makeup for skintones (but still I agree with you).
+Alisha van der Veen what's the point of being a makeup artist if you can't adapt to different clients?
***** Lots of professional makeup artists can't do makeup on dark skin. There was a dark skinned model who spoke out on this issue in the fashion industry pretty recently.
She made a beautiful woman like Daysha look horrible! she doesn't know how to apply makeup on different skin tones at all.
KnG1Dakota I believe she apologized and said that she didn't have the correct shades, but she still could have mixed the darker shades with the lighter ones to match her and then create a highlight and contour out of what she had for Daysha
that so true and I was looking for this comment
KnG1Dakota ikr
KnG1Dakota I know right she made her way to high lighted and look like someone dumped flour on her face
true
This MUA is very talented but I dont think she is skilled in working with darker skin tones...the foundation was totally off and highlight was super obvious and too light.
candiwax Yep, i agree
candiwax Yes the black girl was GREEN like an alien. Honestly, many white people can't color match dark skin tones correctly.
It was definitely a little too cool and ended up a bit ashy with the lights. Otherwise, fantastic job.
There you go thinking again
Yes. V ashy
i think this makeup artist is only good at makeup on her own face
dude
bruh...nuh uh
What do you two mean?.. ↑
She's good at makeup!
Lovin da profile pic btw
The MUA blocked me for posting about the horrible job she did and providing constructive criticism and explaining the benefits of continued education. WOW. Childish at best.
Girl, this is something. I lose even more respect for her. What a shame. Love your videos by the way and how freaking real you are ✌
That's not a quality MUA smh
+Tina Marie A good makeup guru or makeup artist should accept criticism and apply it.
What is the name of the video? Love your channel btw
Tina, you have my mother's name and half of my middle name.
If you can't work on dark skin you're not a makeup artist, sorry
sophia K tru
Exactly but she’s not even “dark skin”
I keep forgetting the name of the black girl, but the foundation was wayyyyy off smh! first the hairstylist now this make up artist. These people are not doing black women justice! They need to stick to doing pale skin tones...
Update: I get it it's Daysha, thank you.
For anybody asking the hair video is called:
"Powerful hair makeovers that transform people's lives"
carolina T Her name is Daysha. And you are absolutely correct.
They don't need to stick to pale skin tones. They're makeup artists. They should learn how to do that or find another job.
Agree
carolina T Was literally just about to comment this. They got black girls fucked up
internet explorers they better practice on a mannequin or SOMETHING, because after this they enforced the reason why they aren't touching my face.
When I saw the color of the makeup on the black girl I almost wanted to pass out. The tones were wayyyy off blessss
Gabby Avery yeaaah:l
Omg I know right? Sub for sub?
SparkleFace okaaay x
Gabby Avery she looks extremely ashy
Gabby Avery I agree, her natural skin tone is so beautiful, a lighter base closer to her natural color would have been more pleasant
I liked the white girl and the asian girl's makeup...but the black girl's makeup was off.
Sorry to go by races but I don't know their names!
The white girl is Candace, the black girl is Daysha, but idk who the Asian girl is
R Khan
thanks!
Why does it matter if you go by races
Shay l-/ I loved the woman who was contoured to look like an Asian Ruby Rose. It was perfect and amazing. I think the woman who was doing the make up did her best and it turned out great, they just had really bad lighting in the video. If you notice, during the process Daysha still looks good with the contour, but as soon as it was the finished product(different lighting) it looked too light.
Shay l-/ TWENTY ON E PI L OT S MY BEEAAANNSSS
Why did two of them get full lashes, lipstick, and blended eye looks, but Daysha got ashy skin and two eyeshadow colors that aren't blended? Shadyyyyy
If you look closely when she’s profile her eyelashes were not even connected with the false ones.
Bunny totally should have been on this episode she would have loved for this to be done to her
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+lizbeth hernandez yeah....who's Bunny?
Nathan Petronzio grav3yardgirl
Mack W. Lady Bunny? LMFAO just kidding
+lizbeth hernandez grav3yard girl. She's a RUclipsr and her nickname is bunny
That black girls makeup looks HORRIBLE.
blame it on the makeup artist
Her name is Daysha just for future reference :)
+mrblf652 RACIST!
Horrible like your mom
Sergio Mendoza You are an idiot.
I AM SO UPSET WITH HOW SHE DID DAYSHA!!! THOSE COLORS ARE ALL WRONG! She made her look ashy!
M CJ Why're they always doing this to Daysha? First the hair video now this? Can't we find someone who know how to work/style black skin/hair?
I want to see but... clowns, soul sucking evil devil clowns
M CJ Yea, it did not look good at all. She looked better in the _before_
M CJ Unfortunately it was on Buzzfeed this time, the girl in general I think was obviously more experienced doing contour on lighter skin but buzzfeed provided her with the makeup that was too light (the highlighted parts) instead of letting her bring her own kit
lmao she did her so dirty 😂😂😂😂😂
She made Daysha far too pale. Daysha has beautiful brown skin and the makeup artist didn't honor that at all.
This was absolutely terrible. Poor Daysha! She looked like someone smashed her beautiful face in a pie. This whole thing was painful to watch. The best one was the girl with short hair but even her look was poorly blended and overdone. I can't believe this woman calls herself a makeup artist.
I totally agree.
Jaden Ernst true, i guess people are being a little too hard on her
She is not a professional if this is the quality of work she's putting out.
Ik im young but even ik how to blend better then that and she shouldve came with correct colors for each of their skin tones. :/
Omg yes
yesssss i thought that too.still she is really pretty
they used the same white color as they did on candace. If She just used the middle color (1:34) instead of the pale then it would've looked fine.
So true she just looked like a gold tin man they should have hired +Nikkitoutorials to do this video I personally feel like she is such a great makeup artist
I agree completely
The asian woman (sry I just don't know her name) looks stunning with that make up on!
Agree! Her look was my favourite
Bonnie Allaut Its the only one that doesnt look like total garbage when they were done :D
I just hit 2000 subs! Come check me out!
+Sam no
They did NOT match the skin tone of the black girl
talk about ashy
Totally agree with you!!!
Joseph Hinds yup agree. Very well said
Preeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaach!!!
I don't think you should criticize Kandee Johnson until you have a makeup line with Kat Von D...
Joseph Hinds i wish i could like your comment 50 times
+Lina Gomez Gerard is cool Mayne I agree
Gerard
Daysha will conquer one day.
I hope these complaints under this video will let buzzfeed realize that they got to do better.
yup
+TheOliviab1 It's kind of difficult to have perfect knowledge on every skin tone. I'd like to see you try and do this. Seriously? Why does this concern you. Either way she is beautiful. The point is to see the power of make up, not to perfectly match skin tone.
Alyssa Nyce yeah but she's a mua, she literally gets paid to know all that stuff
She didn't do a good job color matching or blending on any of the girls
ikr especially the black lady like wtf this person does not know how to makeup
everyone looked like a mess.
ikr
Ikr. Daysha's foundation was WAAY to light.
I think she did a pretty good job on Candice, aka the white girl. It's like she didn't even try on the two POC's.
Can buzzfeed employ a decent makeup artist for once.......
You took three words right out of my mouth. It's becoming disrespectful at this point because they're not even trying. It's so obvious...smh
omg I was thinking the same thing!
Like really who is this and why?!
I think the make up artist tried her best but she should've used darker colors for the black woman.
her name is daysha :)
she said she didnt have all the shades
Well if she's a professional MUA she should have every shade.
Yeah.
I applaud the artist for "fighting back" at haters but she should've at least gotten colors that match Daysha's skin tone
totally agree
I am not trying to offend anyone I just would like to say something is that okay?
where has she fought back? I'm curious to read it!!
In the video she was talking about how the clown contour was her fighting back at the haters
In the video she was talking about how the clown contour was her fighting back at the haters
none of them matched their skin tones???
April Mazae omg right!!
April Mazae right
especially daysha. she got white-washed
Nicole Maloney I think daysha secretly hated it
Nicole Maloney yeah dayshas was the worst
felt really bad for daysha in this video
Yeah the make up artist didn't do too well with her...
same. :(
Honestly I think I expected it (not being racist)
The makeup artist couldn't bring in her own makeup that's why the colours are not right. Buzzfeed provided the makeup
+Jelly Jay buzzfeed didn't provide the makeup. She said so on her Instagram. She wasn't prepared
She made the black girls face look muddy and ashy..clearly she's red toned. not yellow..some makeup artist she is..
***** Right! I agree
Agree but I don't think she used yellow on daysha. I consider yellow a warmer color but she used some really cooler tones on her which did not work >.< 💔
ya, the black girls original skin color is really pretty. the makeup artist made her look drab. :(
+Gabe Hooker Ikr... she looked really 2 dimensional
+Christa T yeah daysha is so pretty and her skin colour is gorgeous....i don't know much about makeup but that makeup was terrible and painful to watch
That Ruby Rose vibe girl has gorgeous bone structure
Yes, her face shape is really pretty.
agreed
Daysha is terrifying. Upset that she didn't color match. She looks ashy and the eyeshadow isn't helping either.
For a "professional makeup artist" she clearly only works on her skin tone.
Brown to silver with the power of ... MAKEUP 😂
+Nevaeh Chambers lmfaoooo
+Nevaeh Chambers rofl
lol I agree if she's going to work with someone who had brown skin she should keep them brown not turn them white
And she know damn well she don't like it
she didn't color the black girl right.
They never do
+Alex-Ian Adams ikr
***** I was thinking the same thing. The colors were all wrong for her face. It made the makeup look sort of unflattering. The makeup artist mostly had little experience working with black/dark skinned individuals.
That's what I thought
Actually it might be because of the contouring colors. Maybe there wasn't enough variety in the palate so it might be hard to do.
The make up artist good don't get me wrong but, only on herself. I just don't understand why she thought that using the same foundation on Daysha from the other girls was okay. Like isn't getting the right kind of make up for your're skin type and complexion a basic beginner thing?
true.
See, they all look bad. Instead of applying makeup effectively, a gimmick was used.
Daysha's was the most noticeable, but still, they all look bad.
I love Daysha's Laugh!
Daniel P very true
They all looked terrible. It was bad.
Wow, the red under the eye actually works!
+Vivienne Gucwa (travelinglens) Yup! I personally think orange works better, but I'm pretty fair toned. Just don't use lipstick for it, it doesn't turn out as magical, or magical at all.
Vivienne Gucwa Yeah, for vampires!
Vivienne Gucwa Fair/Medium skin tones should use light peachy correctors, while dark/deep skin tones should opt for darker peachy colour/orange to colour-correct, works like a charm and allows to use less foundation :)
IOANNA333 My skin is pretty much vampire white so this helps for me :).
Vivienne Gucwa
That's cool!I haven't ever tried a red eyeshadow(even though i would like to) but i really love a pink one.Especially under the eyes.
I think the dark skinned woman looks HORRIBLE! The makeup artist made an awful job. her skin is like 4 shades lighter and that eyeshadow? NO NO NO. I think the asian woman looked AMAZING! I love that makeup on her sooo mucj
I agree but with the makeup she looks 5 shades darker not lighter
On the dark skinned woman
I agree, and her name is daysha btw 😉
Ashley Nunez thanks
GOD YOU ARE SO RUDE
We need a dark skin "try girls" because there are too few professional videos out there on make up, hair, and fashion for black/ethnic women.
Yesss!
Daysha's too nice for that I think :c But you saw it in her eyes.
im not trying to be rude but it kinda looks like daysha got white washed by criminals on the street
She made a public apology. She didn't have the right shades that day.
emilia s ok... i i not know that thx
is there a link?
Why did she do Daysha so freaking wrong! She mad her look like stainless steel
*made
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
+Noella Yellowe i just died laughing
+Noella Yellowe Lmao! Poor Daysha.
😂😂😂😂
Daysha has such a beautiful skin color why would the artist ruin it by making her light? The girl has beautiful melanin that should not at all be lightened ever.
I TOTALLY AGREE... OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST THE CAMERA
DEFINITELY NOT THE CAMERA
I feel like the lighting was bad or they need to find a makeup artists who knows how to do makeup on brown skin. I swear the black ppl always be looking pasty af
Don't makeup artists practice on all skin tones? Doesn't always seem like it, I was looking forward to Daysha's the most
tru
looking back at this video daysha's light foundation is waaayy too light for her skin tone its like 5 shades lighter as to the 2 shades lighter it should be no wonder she looks so pasty
Usually it's the lighting with darker colours, especially powders that don't photograph well or when light hits. And I'm not sure if she's a certified MUA or just a RUclips-declared Makeup Guru.
Wrong shades 😭
Daisha was sporting Tin man realness
So wrong but so funny LOL
I feel you can't call yourself a "professional" if you can't do it on all skin tones. I don't know if she didn't know how to do her process on darker skin tones or if she came unprepared, but Daysha was looking very gray and I cringed.
+Alyssa Burton AGREED
+Alyssa Burton I agree.
+Sandra Rodriguez or you know, using colors not for the skin tone anyway
Interesting video, but they should have left Daysha's clips out of the video if the makeup artist didn't know how to do makeup on dark skin. Yellow faded to dark gray? Really?
yes 100% what i said
yeah
Is it just me or do i think that Daysha's makeup did not match her skin tone. I feel bad for her
+Gina Davis its bothering me so much I feel mad.
+Dahlya Mann I feel the same way!!!
I really hate seeing darker skin tones being "whited up" and I'm super pale so I couldn't relate but I'm so sorry for my race
me 2 😢😕😶
Your face makeup shouldn't be the colour of your face but the colour of your neck. Which hers is, so actually it is the right colour, it just looks like it isn't since her face is so naturally dark/red.
Why is she using the same shade on daysha and candice!?!?
She sucks at doing darker skin 😟😒 she made her look so awful! And who clown contours!?! 😂😂🙈🙈🙈🙈
I think this should be taken down! As a MUA I'm so offended lol she's a Instagram makeup artist 😤😑
STOP SCROLLING
you look amazing... continue
Awe.This comment made my day 😊
King Productions Aww, thank you :D
King Productions You are an amazing person for posting that :)
That's so sweet😊😊
:3
Daysha looked better without makeup 😥
I agree and WASSUP PHAN MEMBER
Elisa Watson I mean, she did look FUCKING GRAY afterwards, so yeah.
Elisa Watson hey look it's phil trash #1 in your profile pic
yesss!
They all did..
Omg wtf. She managed to pick good colors for the other women, but somehow Daysha got like... fairest of the fair highlight.
So when the artist said she was going to try different skin tones, she meant she was going to do pale makeup on all skin tones. Now that's what I call equality. PALE SKIN FOR ALL!! (with as much sarcasm as I can muster)
oml hahaha
I have pale skin so lll
*lol*
she had to work at sephora, I always walk away looking pale af there. gotta go to a street artist for the best results on black women
😂😂😂they did it to me too sis. I looked so crazy. There is a reason the lighting is so terrible in there 😆
+marla79 make me not even want to buy from there
Mac , and Bobbi brown do real good on my dark skin... This chick had no idea what she was doing
I know they did her dirty😓
Alyxina clownish? i like the white girl the best
ashy
Alyxina I think it was the lipstick. The lipstick choices were awful.
NO IT DIDNT IT LOOKED SO BAD ESPECIALLY THE LIPS
Daysha is so much more beautiful without all that makeup✨
Agreed
WOW... She had NO idea how to do a black person's makeup...
Yeah she looked crazy. I can't believe they let that girl do that to her.
I know it's ridiculous! People who were editing or filming 100% knew so idk why they let it through...
Apparently she wasn't allowed to bring in her own makeup to work on the girls. She apologized for it on her Instagram.
I would break out but poor Daysha! I thought she was going to look stunning
Minty CandyArts You are here too?
You can't break out because of foundatio
hiii you are from Ldshadowlady channel! lol I didnt know you watched buzzfeed too
Evelien Steur SHE IS EVERY WHERE LIKE EVERY WHERE
Same every foundation I try breaks me out really bad.
Can she do my make up? like everyday?
Yep, $1200 everyday.
no
Sameeeee
+likeliterally lol. did you ever saw a dragqueen? if yes, you wouldn't say that 😑
see*
she failed deysha sooo hard, even i could see that the colors were off as hell
poor Daysha! can this artist see that Daysha is black and not put the lightest highlights all around her face?
+Hannah Schnittger ikr
You're right
She looks ashy because of the intense highlighter
Honestly they all looked better before, sometimes that much make up is too much.
There's no such thing as too much makeup.
l RED l Yeah the extreme makeup contouring she did on these girls really should only be used for big events, like a photoshoot or maybe a prom type situation, where you want to look extra glam. Not for an every day contouring.
+HannahL0ves Or they could do it everyday. No one should care.
Jaden Ernst I mean yeah they could. I personally just wouldn't want to take all that time everyday.. takes me long enough with my contour/makeup already xD
+HannahL0ves I would, if the world wasn't crappy and judgmental about guys doing makeup
The black girl looked really weird after the makeup.
ikr, she looked really unnatural /:T
That makeup artist fucked up bad
***** No no, it just looked unnatural. :)
+N1njabacca It's not racist. The makeup artist didn't use the right color, which made her look weird.
Jokes are supposed to be funny. What you said wasn't funny.
they white-washed daysha so bad. she should have had a various of shades instead of just white.
poor daysha.
I know. I cringed when I saw her results. =|
right like that doesnt match her at all😕
3StarLogo Thank you! She's gray! I thought it was just me. I'll be the first to admit I don't know jack about makeup, but that looks awful. And while I understand the merit of contouring and highlighting, they've got WAY too much makeup on.
Barry Allen there's no reason someone should look ashy and grey. There is no excuse for that.
+3StarLogo they really fucked her up
daysha is beautiful, but with this... I kinfa hate it
grey
True, she looked kind of sick actually😂
She looks gray
Yeah she looks dusty. It's kinda sad😢
Shame.
Thanks for bashing drag queens
Jaden Ernst what I mean is that it's too much makeup for her. I love drag queen makeup (they can contour like nobody's business!) but they typically wear A LOT and make it incredibly dramatic.
If that's the look she was going for then I guess it's okay but just looked like too much. Sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.
OhOhSheeiila I totally agree!
+OhOhSheeiila thank youuu. Only the Ruby Rose looking girl looked good
Completely agree. The African Americans skin is way too beautiful to be turned into that grey crap. And the beautiful Caucasian looked really scary after that. It was all wrong
she has clearly NEVER done a black woman's makeup before
Seriously
Hah, you can say that again.
Why'd she put white girl foundation on Daysha? She was so shimmery she looked like a vampire...!
I HATE what she did to Dasha... it looks like she tried to make her skin tone 9 shads lighter
SO true!
I was just about to comment on the hat
She just really used the wrong highlighting shades. Dasha has a warm skin tone so she needed more of an orange/yellow highlight to not make her look icy. If you watch RuPaul's Drag Race you will see most of the women of color will use an orange/yellow to highlight so they don't have an icy-white washed look, and it is MUCH more natural looking! :)
Why did Daysha look so pasty? Everyone's makeup was so heavy. Like stage makeup. Fail 😑
Let people do what they want with their faces, if they want to cake on the makeup just let them do it.
Jaden Ernst I don't know what Country you're in but in America there are no law governing makeup.
What the hell are you talking about?
This MUA didn't even try to color correct for Daysha. She still looks gorgeous, but for someone saying they'd experiment with multiple tones, I feel like she really needed to take the products she used into account.
She made Daysha look green wtf
