    I knew so many people who had these when I was a kid. The thing I liked about them was how high the rear seats were off the floor. As a kid I could easily crawl underneath them.

    My family had a white 1989 short cargo model for my grandfather’s painting business.
    My parents later got a 1993 XLT extended with the 4 litre engine. We had it until 2016 on it’s original engine and transmission and no rust when we sold it with over 200,000 km on it. Blue, silver and dark blue to match the bumpers and 1994 Ford Ranger wheels.

    The best thing we LOVED about our Eddie beaur rear seats, was that they folded into a flat bed, had very thick cushions on them, so we would take many trips with it, and the kids would sleep very comfortably back there, to me this was a MAJOR selling point, but ford did not advertise that feature well enough, I know everyone that had one of these Van's did not want to give them up, and nothing made today has those amazing rear seats.😢

    90% of consumers today wouldn't understand what half of this stuff means and how it translates to the ownership experience.
    When's the last time you walked into a dealership, and the salesman mentioned the wheelbase?
    We've gone backwards. 😢

    Oh boy this was my first mini van growing up- my family drove everywhere- we had the blue Aerostar which you see in the video. The seats folded down which it makes a bed and we would sleep with the family and then some drunk lady crashed into us and we gave it away- insurance paid us money and we paid the van off and got 2 Cadillac’s which were junk. Dang, good times! It’s crazy to think life continues and we all grow up and we all will die.

    Surprised these were available in manual as late as 1993. I'll bet very few were actually ordered that way.

      They were available with a manual till the very end. It was the standard transmission on the cargo van, until 96. When for 96-97 Ford offered the automatic as standard. But you could still opt for a manual and receive a 300.00 credit.

    I loved the aerostar, it was just a pain to work on because of its short hood. That was the biggest draw back to minivan's of this era.

    • @LynxStarAuto
      @LynxStarAuto 8 месяцев назад

      Not at all. The Aerostar was actually one of the easier versions to service. The front clip was designed to remove in minutes. You could strip the entire front end in under 20 minutes, AND did not require discharging the air conditioning. The condenser lines were secured to the frame with brackets. You could undo these brackets, and the lines with hoses provided enough flexibility to set it aside, and pull the rest of the front clip off.
      The thing was, few mechanics or shops back then had the intuition to do this, and Ford didn't do a great job explaining it.

    my parents had this and trade it in for 02 honda odyssey. We kept the odyssey and she still is being used today. Reson why well Aerostar transmission kicks the bucket.

      We had the ‘89 model and my dad kept it until 2011. Never had a single issue with it. I got my first speeding ticket in it back in ‘96 but that wasn’t the car’s fault lol.

    • @Poopsticle_256

      @@ryankane7177 Because vans are slow, cumbersome, heavy, and provide a subpar driving experience. I don’t care if these things had some slushy 4 speed auto, a manual in an Aerostar, using it for what you were meant to use a minivan for, is terrible.

    Ugggh… seeing this van makes me want to puke 🤢My Aunt is the original “soccer Mom” and had a van exactly like this, same color and everything. One day my Mom had to borrow it for some weird reason and my Mom shows up all mad, I ask what’s wrong and she says “just get in and you’ll find out”. Oh God…. it smelled SO BAD! My Aunt never cleaned it and she had three kids, two rowdy boys and a toddler. It smelled like rotten milk and rotten McDonald’s, it smelled like a school cafeteria dumpster on a hot summer day, we couldn’t stand it, my Mom kept saying they were all pigs🤮
