What an enjoyable chat You two had. Thanks a lot for making it happen. Johnny s just a freak of nature as a musician and a very real and kind person to boot. God bless You both.
Good interview Levi! IMHO Johnny was the ultimate lesson in 'HOT' Nashville country guitar while playing with Don Kelly at "Robert's" on lower Broadway in Nashville during the late 90's. Every solo he takes contains the exact right notes at exactly the right time. And he is such a down to earth human being with a heart of gold. We sure miss him in Nashville.
Fantastic job Levi one of the best Johnny Hiland interviews I've seen so far. I know he was really looking forward to this. Great Insight on music and playing, love your channel.
I cannot even tell you how much I enjoyed this interview. I loved melody is key, even as a very average bedroom guitar player I have always felt that.. You can see he was so passionate talking to Levi, the mutual respect just shone through. Thanks a lot.
This is a Fantastic interview Levi!! I love JH and I have enjoyed you as well all these years. Wow, and as of late I am really learning that the Tele is fantastic, it can play all music. Thank you. ❤🤓
Good job Clay for a great interview with one of the best all around guitarist and a super nice guy! I have taken lessons from Johnny and he is so kind and motivating! Get ahold of Johnny and take a lesson!!
Would have loved to been there when Johnny first got to Nashville and was asked how do you play like that without a B-bender?. I could see a young Johnny Hiland standing there asking himself what's a B-bender? Totally an amazing, amazing player👍.
Great interview !! Johnny is one great chicken pickin' son of a gun.....no question about that but I am all about clean. When he cranks up the distortion he loses me. But then, I am about 10 times older than he is so that probably explains it. 😄😊😄
Oh my...... God Livi ... Phuuuu.... That topic is about as long as a year I guess. Lenny Breau is probably worse. Johhny Hiland is one of the greatest picker Iv'e heard, but when it comes to jazz pickers like Lenny he would really get his head hands and feat full. And he know it. So did ths old master Mr. Guitar C.G.P. Chet Atkins..Thank you for getting an interview with the awesome Johnny Hiland.
I'm just gunna come out and say it. its ironic that JH reps Truefire so much, when its actually quite a difficult and inaccessible website to use as a blind person. Try using that online player with a screenreader...you really can't. Speaking from experience.
@@LeviClay I also cannot read tab. But you can get a lot from Truefire by watching the instructors, rewinding the video and listening again etc. But I as a blind player cannot use the Truefire interface to do even that, because the controls don't work. I love JH's playing...but I can't learn any of it using his TF courses, not because I can't read tab, but because the website's tech stack is inaccessible to me. And as a blind guy, you would think he might consider that, at the very least.
@@LeviClay I have. Turn on interested. That’s kind of why I brought it up here to be honest. Because Johnny is clearly dealing with a company, who clearly don’t give a shit about blind people, though he is one himself, and they’re happy to profit off his instruction.
@@bermibrit you’re being unfair. If you run a business selling scissors, it’s not that you don’t care about people who don’t have thumbs, it’s just they might be such a statistically insignificant portion of your market that the cost of making scissors that don’t require thumbs might be cost prohibitive. It’s no different than complaining they don’t cater to deaf people, or create Gaelic subtitles. As a blind guy, this must not be a new thing to you. Car manufacturers don’t hate blind people. Book publishers don’t hate blind people.
Jeff healey was amazing also but if you are interested in country get into jerry reed man, he was the king you wont hear someone who can shred like he can

You’re very welcome!
Johnny Hilland, amazing person, already a legendary player among us. Thanks Levi! Thanks Johnny! Keep rocking Y'ALL!
Johnny is such a legend. I’ve been TRYING to study him and Brent Mason lately. Insane players. Thanks for the interview Levi.

Such a soulful player - and nice guy too
Coooool! Big fan of JH. The dude has chops for days. I was listening to him on the bus yesterday. Great antidote to screaming children! 👀🤣😝
What a nice guy and what a player, thanks for this great interview 👍
Great interview Levi, with a friendly down to earth and talented musician

Maine boy done good. I saw him at the Fryeburg Fair in the late 90's in Fryeburg, Maine. Yessah.
Johnny Hilland is a beast!
Awesome - this is fantastic!
Fantastic!

That's fair - Johnny wouldn't even consider that because as a blind guy he doesn't even attempt to deal in tab, he's worked on his ears.

@@bermibrit that a big shame, have you raised this with TrueFire? They should work on that.
