I went to the shelter and a handsome pit pointer chose me...standing at attention and looking at me very straight with chaos all around. I'm 76 and it has been very challenging because my yard is overgrown with trees and full of prey. He sails over the 6' fence with great enthusiasm. I finally for his safety and my nerves, decided to keep him tethered (25') and play in the house with prey toys and go for rides. We have made a life for ourselves. Toto is a gentle and friendly youngster who loves the cat and plays well with other dogs in my extended family. I won't use electricity because to me it seems dishonest...I want Toto to know what I'm doing is personal and for both of us. I was raised with Pointers and hunting...they understand everything you say to them.
Finally I found the true breed of my dog. My mother one day came home carrying this puppy, we first thought he was a dalmation due to the spots, but she said he's a pointer dog. I researched about pointers, they're skinny and kinda tall. More than 1 and a half years later my puppy who became a big ass dog developed muscles and features that are distinct and only seen on pit bulls, his height wasn't even on par with an adult pointer. He's playful as hell and causes chaos most of the time, protective, and surprisingly athletic. He isn't skinny but bulky, we thought he was fat but his bones are wide and his paws are similar to that of a pitty. I could never be more proud of my baby due to finding this out. I own a Pit Pointer, a very very loving yet over protective (at times) dog.
I have a German wired haired setter mixed with a purebred Pitbull mom. I ended up with a dog who has kind of the shape of the body of a pitbull, with sleek but coarse hair like the pointer tiny floppy ears and the face that looks more pitbull. He is energetic, intelligent, adorable, cuddly And just a big sucky do. I honestly click trained him for 2 weeks and he is so smart that he got everything right away. We had a Malamute mix and she just loved him and they are the best of friends. I didn't even have to teach him to play fetch to return the ball he just did that on his own. Very intelligent very loyal and good companions. Even better around kids! And it's so funny when he hears something he points just like a pointer and it's hilarious! I did notice that he gets dandruff sometimes.
I rescued my GPS/Pit and he is the prefect specimen 80lb with the the size of a pointer and the body of pitbull. He is so pretty everyone wants to know what kind of dog he is. He is 2.5 and is with and brown with a the marking. I wish I had a way to post a picture.
