toasted bread can I use posterbord?
If you use paper or cardboard for a head, it can mould VERY easily. If you make one please don’t wear it regularly or outside, the mold can kill you if you breathe enough in.

@@ryan-yz1sc yes it is cardboard while paper CAN mold it is very hard to. Also if you put paint and sealant on it its even harder to but thank you for being concerned for others

This is so helpful! I'm planning to do a cosplay of Yumiko from Brawlhalla, and do her normal skin, but add a kitsune mask like her other skins. I'm doing the cosplay once I do my first cosplay of course ^^

Another option to bevel would be to sand/cut them in after. Might be easier for some people.
It's pretty hard to cut the bevel after you cut them because of the nature of the foam(it tends to squish away from the blade), that's why I showed the option with the Dremel
I've been wanting to do a worgen cosplay for a while now and I wonder if this base would be good for that. Add a lower jaw and of course fur and other elements. Guess I'll just have to try it and see!

I love this pattern! I was wondering if there was a way that I could elongate the snout a bit without distorting the pattern. If so, would you mind giving me a recommendation please. Wonderful work, by the way!
I haven't tried it myself, but I think if you take the pattern and split it along the registration marks and add in and equal amount of space there it should work? Putting the pattern together in full once, even just taping paper together should help you understand where to split it to add the length you want. Good luck! I'd love to see the results!

I love the design so much. The mask is decorative right? Can it be changed at all to be an actual usable mask? If so how?
It can be decorative or can be worn! There is instructions to add a place where a ribbon can be attached then you can tie it around the back of your head

I haven't actually made this mask so my words are technically invalid - that and I'm a bit late to commenting, but I assume you could just add a little extra material? I'm really not sure, tbh. But it !might work?
Is there any possibility you could use a substance such as hot glue to bind the pieces together or must it be contact cement?

I don't have a video about it but basically I take a tiny tape pattern, scan it, scale it up 400% on my computer
Would it be possible to create this mask with carboard and then put a layer of paper clay above it?
I haven't tested it myself, but I think it could work with carboard :) go for it and send me your results!

I've seen people do it with leather and stitched together.
In general, when making the pattern, how do you know which parts to bevel?
kinda late but it depends on whether or not the area in question is supposed to be concave or convex. the direction of the beveling will either push the bevelled edges inward or outward.
You want to bevel we're you want a hard edge. Like if you wanted a sharp corner somewhere
could you make this from cardboard rather than foam? im looking to make a mask base shape to then sculpt over and as im using paper mache clay i feel cardboard would be better

That's a good idea, but I think sks props may already have a template for it if you're interested!

I print it on 8.5" x 11" paper and use 6 mm foam

Yep! Might take a little trimming as well, but it should work!

Yes! Just when you go to print, set the scale to 25% and use 2 or 3 mm foam to build it
