You always do your homework! Great value and learning in all your videos! I love learning something new with my spare time. This channel is doing that!
Before I read the title, I got excited bcuz I thought ya'll were building a barn on your property 😅 Same principles though. Nice to help out your parents! I have been trying to get my mom to move here from Phx but she's afraid of hurricanes & tornados 🤷🏼♀️
I’m glad you pointed it out. A lot of people put them vertical come up it should be horizontal, your studs are your vertical shrink. If you put your panels up and down, then you have a vertical strength and your buildings easy to push over. I only really see people argue about it on the Internet, everybody I’ve ever worked with in construction understood this and I didn’t understand it until I was well in my 30s but I knew it when I was in my 20s because I work construction and they told me to do it that way 😅 If we’re gonna argue, we should argue about construction and he’s of and gluing the sheets down😂😂
@@TKCL I think it’s just systemic of the world today, most people don’t really care about their jobs that much so they just kind of do what they were taught to do and earn a paycheck and go home and don’t really care if they did it right or not as long as they got it done. But someone building their own home pays more attention. I think people just used to understand what they did better or maybe it’s just my impression. Lol that was kind of the case with me. I just did what my boss said the way they said it and had no idea why. Lol
Real excited to see you install HardieBoard, been thinking about redoing my house myself. Just can’t figure out the start and stop layout for each plank. Down the road from you guys in Monticello so if you ever get too bored let me know ;) just kidding. Absolutely love your content!!!! Found your videos since I’ve been here in Iraq and well, let’s say you all have helped me stay sane and it’s always awesome to see how it looks at home (weather conditions and such). Many kudos to you and yours, give Ruger a good round of scratches for me :)
Hey Andrew, great video. I like that you worked with your dad on his property. It looked like he could take that nailer and run up all that OSB with no problems. Ruger did a great job as onsite safety officer...
Hi Andrew, you always do an excellent job on all of your projects and also reviewing and explaining the tools you use. Great job. I saw Ruger in the background. He is a gorgeous dog. 😊🤗
Hi Andrew looks like your parents have a nice peace of property also. I like that guide your Dad made good idea. That’s going to be a nice shop when finished. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
OK Andrew. I thought you were cheating on us building a secret shop on your property without bringing us along. It wasn't until 5:13 you reveled it is your Dad"s shop! You are lucky being able to work on a task with your Dad. You will cherish the memory of working with your Dad for years to come. You need to talk to him on videos. I think he is proud of how far you have come.
Have you tried the junction box cutter attachment for oscillation tools? Its a blade for the oscillating tool that is perfect for the box. Never used one myself and they have mixed reviews.
@The Kelley's Country Life I'm gonna build a pole barn 40x60x16... looking at the most efficient way to enclose it... so looking into options... thanks for your reply and amazing job on your videos
Hi Andrew! I noticed you didn't mention anything about using clipped-head vs full round head nails. Do you have any opinion? What's required in your area? Haven't seen Ruger for awhile. Man, is he getting big!
If my dad was helping me hold up the board and I was talking he would have a few choice words..... I'm sure he would say to hurry up and nail it along with some bad words or just let go 😳😆
Andrew, great video but misleading IMO because this is your father in laws property which you failed to mention! Glad you mentioned that on your next video however clears up confusion!
Nicely done, sir!
Nice job! You can make that notch to stretch the chalk line by using your utility blade.
Great information, Andrew. I know you're enjoying working with your Pop!
Hope you are doing well!

As always, great, informative video!

A lot of very good tips in this one...thank you Andrew!

I'm just picking on the Andrew. I love you, I've watched for years and couldn't wait till you got the tools that I have and watched you enjoy them 💓

Ruger seems to be very fond of your dad:))
He's fond of anyone that gives him attention 😂
Exciting. That outdoor kitchen was what got me following this page 👍💪🙌

He sure was!
Hi, Andrew! You certainly post excellent how to videos. Very thorough and informative. Ruger is a good supervisor.
Yes he is!
I think it will be a great little series. Bet you Dad is so proud of you!!
I hope so

That’s a nice shop!
It looks great okay and be safe two of both of you please and thank you very much okay and I am just letting you know about that okay
Great info. I never knew that OSB had a sheer strength direction. Now I wonder about plywood...🙂
All sheathing should run horizontal to vertical studs, plywood or osb.
@@TKCL Huh? Never knew that...🙂
A lot of good studies and tests online. Crazy increase in wind shear alone with vertical VS horizontal.

I heard once but don't know how true it is but on OSB the slick side should go in because it would be a first layer of vapor barrier.
Haven't heard that one, but technically the first vapor barrier is always on the outside of the sheathing via felt, plastic vapor barrier ect.
Dang, not first but I'm back!
Been dealing with cleanup after that big ice storm we got over here in tx. But I'm all caught up and ready to go! 🤣
Welcome back
@The Kelley's Country Life thanx! Good to be back!

I've seen the sheet rock one. Can't imagine one working well on wood.
I have to ask you this were you a school teacher? because the way you explain things makes it very easy for people to learn, especially me!
Never, thanks!
The panel bit and 16p nail thing are definitely some tips I'll keep in mind! Does the panel bit work on drywall, too?
No it doesn't
@@TKCL But it'll work on even the thick 3/4-ish wood stuff, right?
Yeah it is adjustable.
Did you Dad not want to be on camera? You are a good son Andrew.
He's not a camera type 📸😬
But he totally supports what I do.
I was just wondering the way you crosscut the sheet and added an inch and a half. Did you also add the curve of the blade?
🙄
what is the cost difference between osb...house wrap... siding .. vs wrapping the shop in the same metal as the roof... ?
Not sure, meatal is very expensive right now. OSB has dropped a lot.

Haven't seen Ruger for awhile. Man, is he getting big!
No requirement has ever been mentioned here. I use full head because that's what my nailer takes.
Hi. QUESTION I can not find the previous videos on this build. How do I get to them this one was marked #7.
This is video 1 of me helping my dad with his shop project. Video #725 for the channel.
The side with the lines is more textured and should be installed facing up when used on roof sheating to achieve better grip when installing on roof
Hey Andrew, is it possible to put a link for that guide that you have? I didn’t see it in your Amazon or in the description
It's from Harbor freight, I'm sure Kreg or someone sells one in Amazon. Try Clamp on saw guide.
@@TKCL thank you Andrew. I hope you know how much I and everyone else appreciate how you respond back to people

Not all saws are 1.5" blade offset Measure yours first your mileage may vary my DeWalt is 1.125 or 1 1/8"
Interesting, my Milwaukee and Dewalt are both 1 1/2.
Not all circular saws are 1.5” to the blade. My Ridgid is 1”
That's very strange
PUT SOME SAFETY GLASSES ON !!!!!
