    I’m really fancying doing a bit of trade plate driving just for one of the reasons you said a bit of spending money and getting out and doing a bit not old enough to pack in work all together

    The monies shit, companies take the piss with how much they pay in comparison to what they’re charging, the companies go through drivers like no tomorrow, VOSA should get involved & regulate the industry, the hours can be horrendous (putting other road users at risk) yet lorry driver’s legally have to abide by strict driving hours.

    Can can I do trade plate driving on the side as part time. I have another full time job I could probably do 10 shifts a month

    • @jenniferwinters
      @jenniferwinters  6 дней назад

      @@gang-gang8325 I wouldn’t recommend it just because TPing works on a rolling basis where your last car of the day you take home, and delivery it the next morning. Without doing that you’d be wasting so much time having to get public transport home every night and then again the next day after you’ve had a day off if that makes sense?

    • @gang-gang8325
      @gang-gang8325 6 дней назад

      @@jenniferwinters I could probably only work 2 back to back days as a trade plate driver per week

    What insurance do you have? I have trade plates for my small time car trade business. I have trade insurance and includes as standard up to insurance Group 39 up to a set value; and I ask for anything higher; like I have a Group 44 and 50 on mine because I asked before hand, nicely. I am just curious on the type of insurance you have.

    Good to see the game is still knocking about.Did this for 7 years back in the late 90's where hitchhiking was a big feature of the game back then.(wish i'd kept a diary lol) My last week before becoming a euro trucker saw me taking a type of sweeper truck from London to Elgin- Scotland (13 hour slow drive) drop off...,hitch down to Peterhead,collect a petrol tanker-deliver to Newcastle.Tomorrows job text drops (Liverpool ,car to ,Manchester) Hitch across A66 to Penrith m6 junction.Half hour wait at motorway junction...hitch down to Forton services (truck driver needs tacho break).
    Another half hour hitching from services.(pouring down) A group of funeral cars stop and l get in front one,they're fellow platers bringing the volvo hearses down from Immingham to LIVERPOOL.Wahey.My last day as a plater and i'm being whisked (100 mph+) to my destiny to Liverpool docks to collect a merc Maybach.Arrive (job cancelled due to customs issue lol.This is plating at it's essence.
    That's the plating l knew,bitter sweet,character building and horizon expanding with the hitching more challenging than simple driving.Not much hitching any more with the game which is a mixed blessing.You miss out on the rich tapestry of experiences and the pay is as ever sub par Maybe car plating is different from truck plating which tends to be more 'vagabondish'.
    Distance lending enchantment to the view,it was a demanding few years but very,very stimulating with great experiences and memories,way better than HGV driving which is the opposite,hyper legislated/monitored (cameras staring at the fkin driver) ludicrous long hours with crap roadside facilities.Like being in an 18 wheel factory/office.(Not what i signed up for)
    Got the sting of nostalgia to the nostrils watching this clip.Excellent stuff.

    Great informative videos .... Which company do you work for?

  • @mrpeace7708
    @mrpeace7708 2 месяца назад

    Hey, thanks for taking the time to do these videos. 4 questions for you:
    1. SALARY - you said they pay by the mile. Are you willing to say exactly how much they pay? .... and would you say its better to be paid by the hour?
    2. REIMBURSEMENTS - There's another channel similar to yours called TradePlateTravels. He says that certain companies reimburse for any travel, petrol, or electric charging. Is that true?
    3. GARAGE/ DRIVEWAY- some job boards say that this is required if the driver takes the vehicle home overnight. Is this true? And how problematic would it be if you don't have these?
    4. FLEXIBILITY - one week I may want to work 2 days, and the following week 5 days. Is that okay for most companies?

    Great video! I am coming to the end of my second week as a trade plate driver. I see so many similarities between the way the company you work for and the one i work for. I use the MoDel app and i also get paid for the distance i drive between collecting and delivering a vehicle
